Many people in the comments comparing the sorento and other mid sized crossovers to ppvs, even though they are not at the same level... all midsized crossovers will look overpriced next to ppvs in paper and brochure specs, but the even the worst crossover in this class is still far and above better than the best of the best ppv in terms of comfort, handling, driving dynamics, and overall refinement. If u look at sorento next to a Mazda CX-8 or Hyundai Santa Fe, both of which are direct competitors to the Sorento, and you will realize that the Sorento isn't actually too overpriced. It loses some features, but the money you lose in features u gain in the diesel engine (diesel versions are more expensive than gasoline counterparts). If kia brought in the gas Sorento instead, that would have been more competitive against the CX-8 for sure in terms of pricing.
In my country (Indonesia), Sorento and Santa Fe are available in Gasoline and Diesel. And I think korean cars in Indonesia, they offering 2 variants of engine like Seltos, Santa Fe, Sorento, Palisade and Carnival they are available in Diesel and Gasoline engine

well, hyundai indonesia will start export sta fe and creta to the philippine market. others are tucson and staria from SoKor and export to the philippines next month(june 2022)
Agree with you here. I have a CX-8 and an Everest and I find myself going for the CX-8 more often for the refinement (no diesel rattle/random shakes) and much better handling. Even the fuel economy is practically the same. Everest is only better when going on broken pavement/dirt roads in the province and cargo capacity.

This is so true. Yes, mid-sized crossovers are more expensive than PPVs, but the comfort, safety, refinement and overall feel it offers is in another class compared to PPVs. It's like comparing the ride of an Xpander with an Adventure, or a CR-V with a Crosswind.

The fuel efficiency part was unexpected. When Caco said it was going to be not really good, I was expecting like 6-7km/l in the city and 14km/l in the highway.. but holy 23+ km/l for any 7 seat vehicle is very good! The smaller diesel CR-V with significantly less power and weight does around the same in the highway and just slightly better in the city.
Bruh, CRV and Sorento aren't in the same class, in Indonesia Sorento in the same class with Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-8, VW Tiguan allspace and Peugeot 5008 (because they are 7 seater)
@@bayukrismantoro that's part of my point 😅 the smaller and lighter CR-V, with a 1.6 diesel, isn't much more fuel efficient than the significantly heavier and more powerful Sorento, even though on paper the Sorento should be a lot less efficient

I gotta say, the detail that kia went into for this thing. Pretty cool. Practical and logical features and design
The two things missing in that vehicle are adaptive cruise and a premium audio system to justify the premium price. By the way, once you have Android Auto on your phone, you never need a cable to connect to the audio system. Mine connected right away in the showroom without needing a cable because I already had AA on my phone. The larger screen, the 10", is cable only, and it doesn't use the full screen for Car Play or AA, so I prefer the smaller screen with actual buttons, the bigger screen is touch only, no physical buttons. It does have wireless charging also, so that goes with the wireless connection to AA and ACP. The drive modes are interesting and change the instruments. A sunroof in this heat is unneeded. It is very fast, rides well, handles bad roads and is very comfortable (same seat as in the Stinger with the almost the same adjustments, just missing the side bolster adjustment) and the highway fuel mileage is incredible.
That 3rd and 2nd row space looks REALLY impressive. Too bad the infotainment screen is still an ordinary 16:9 aspect ratio screen, would've much preferred getting the same gigantic screen size as other markets.

I'm currently abroad (ofw) and I own the same Kia Sorento here. This car is so smooth to drive and really an eyecatcher. I never regret my decision getting this car, it's all worth it. I wonder if the Philippines model has a Bose sound system as what it has in my Sorento. Really really nice car! Mine however has a 2.5L petrol engine 4wd. Price of gasoline here is very cheap, so no issue getting a petrol engine.
Finally! Their blind spot camera already made it to the philippines. It took some time but at least we can have it now.
The new generation Santa Fe has that Blind spot switching screen in the dash first i think since their 2019 or 2020 model.
Finally a detailed and precise content, nicely delivered without a doubt, i must admit that despite the price, this car is appealing to my eyes 🤤👍
I got a 2018 in December. It has less than 7k miles on it and has been back twice for dropping to limp mode from a knock sensor code. That's once before they changed the sensor and once after. The car can't handle rpm load when passing or merging onto the highway. Both times the car dropped to 40mph almost immediately, almost causing pileups. DO NOT BUY A THETA II EQUIPED HYUNDAI OR KIA.
This car has so much to offer if we even have the full specs version from Korea but imagine how gastronomical the price it would be even more. This SUV is so much underated but is actual value for money. What this will suffer from is getting it's usual stigma by being a Korean product and the fact people see the price tag for what it offers more compared to it's competitors. You can never compare apples to oranges but people will sure try. My challenge to the Kia distributor now is to offer this car with an extended warranty similar to what they do in other countries and offer it to a price that would give a run of the money on the more coveted PPVs which are still King when it comes to the SUV segment.

Finally a Kia Sorento. I've been a fan of this since 2020 and was thinking how it would be if it's in the PH
The Sorento is nice however it should be priced @ 1.8M. The competition has much to offer for 2.6M.

No mention of good aftersales and the 5-year warranty? Well, this car is as good as this review is. Also, yes ACC with LSF should have been included since CR-V has that and even the new HR-V has that at half the price of this one.
One of the better looking "suvs" out there, on par with the Santa Fe, IMO.

I just got my first 2022 KIA Sorento last week and I’m loving it. Mine is AWD and has a massive sun roof. The only downside I noticed was the acceleration. It doesn’t give me that power I’m looking for.
You must not have the turbo . 281 hp. 311 torque . Mine has alot of pickup either that or you drive in Eco or Smart. Normal or Sport are the only ones should be used for the sx turbo. I had a 2021 s and traded it in for the 2022 sx. That 21s was slow .

May I ask what is your ave fuel consumption?
@@sharifasemillano6154 mine is about 25-26mpg normal driving. If I set in sport mode in long driving it’s 19-20. I guess it depends on how you drive. The other thing that I notice is the apple car play. I find there’s a delay in the navigation. I don’t know if it is a software issue.
There's a switch on the right side of the 3rd row to auto fold the 3rd row seats.
Can you show the driver's view looking at the rear view mirror while there is a passenger at the third row seat with the head rest up? Thanks 👍🏽
I suggest for the camera test on how clear it is used letters printed on a paper, if we can read it from the screen that is very good.
bottom holder is for folding umbrellas.. not water bottles
The only thing missing in that price point is the 4wd system. I've used the older generation and it is really useful.

You will notice that opening the back door, letter E in the SORENTO name gives it a hint where the button is located to open it (Exit)

isofix tethers on all passenger seats (except of course the front) for those with 3 or more children ranging from newborn to 12yo would be great.

I like this Sorento, but for the price, it's not worth it with the diesel engine. This is not a dig at Kia and is not just a Kia issue. Many of the manufacturers, sell top spec models with the same "smallish" engine found on the entry level model that cost much less. Manufacturers upgrade everything from ride, handling to the looks and tech, than they carry over an engine that's 100 horsepower! For the price they're asking for the top spec, the engine should be upgraded as well.

Not KIA's fault though, PH imposes a 30% tax on cars not assembled locally on top of other taxes. top trim model for this is at 1.6+m in Korea

Nope Caco not the only diesel one in the segment. Santa Fe also has a diesel.

This looks pretty similar to Kia's very own (but US Limited) Telluride.
Not bad........BUT there should be a variant that includes:
-AWD (since the previous gen model had it)
-Paddle Shifters
-BOSE Sound system
Siguro something similar to the GT-Line trim variant sa Australia

I already saw that sorrento in Sojoo vlog. He was not able to explain the details of that car. I even said ugly, which i meant its not the same as the one in South korea. Its like what we have here is just an immitation of the original one. Sorry to say that. Special yung Hybrid model nila is so beautiful. Pero i understand the reason why? Kasi mas mahal sya kung the same will be brought here. Pero para sa akin ang makakabili lang naman nyan ay rich people. So why not bring the real one?

Ford Explorer is a midsize crossover?
Because the obvious advantage of this car with the explorer and cx9 is that it’s diesel, why compare the mileage with “other cars” instead of SUVs of same size/category like the explorer that only does 5kms/L on city streets? i get it, you like the cx9 better 😉

for the price I'd get a Terra but to be fair it is an awesome offer... except for it's front wheel drive... so Terra it is.
fwd is better if 4x2 lang naman less ang stress sa engine since less ang weight (less fuel consumption) compared to rwd and majority ng bumibili ng PPVs sa paved road dumadaan so I don't think that buying PPVs makes sense unless 4x4 and laging nag-ooffroad

again, kia has downgraded their model for our shores. the sunroof and projector headlights should be an option (or atleast on the 4x4 variant)

Kia is coming out with great products. The only problem in the PH is the pricing. Are you willing to put out that much money for their products?
Yes, their diesel engines are powerful but quiet af super tipid pa like the 1.6L diesel engines found in Hyundai Accent and Kia Soul plus yung chassis nila super tibay. Our Soul was hit by a Strada at the right rear passenger side and the passenger did not have any major injury single airbag pa yun.
