Since most of the other women are being called beautiful in the comments while Regina King is called "powerful" or "strong", I'll break the ice: Regina King is beautiful and talented. 👌
She is thank you Mike!😘
and also one of THE most underrated actresses EVER. When she is in a movie...her MALE costars win Oscars. She is so good, she elevates the performance of others.
Regina King is very talented. - Does my comment bother you?
@@DGsKattKatt definitely. Beautiful eyes. There's a vet where I live who looks just like her.
She's absolutely beautiful!!!! She's been one of my favorites since Jerry Maguire. I just love her.
Kathryn Hahn is me at that table. So starstruck and in total awe that she's even sitting at a table with those women. Love it. That's a mood.
And look at her now. 😍 Amazing.

I don’t know exactly why but.... Kathryn Hahn just irritates me. Maybe she seems so needy and neurotic? I know the “ if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”..but I wonder ..does anyone else have a similar reaction to her?
@@eileenmccarthy7392 I think some of it is the parts she has played and maybe how she gets steered in interviews. And she seems to be changing over time. I mean she isn't the deepest person I have seen but I don't hate her. And there always seems to be that one person that shouldn't be on these panels. She is for sure the one on this one. Nothing she has done even comes remotely close to the rest of these women and I think she knows it. I bet Gaga thought it was her since she has little experience but it isn't. Both her work on AHS and her movie she just knocked it out of the park. And like she has said, she is trained actor she just never got to do it before.
@@biteme263 *Agatha
Anyone else notice how Gaga became the interviewer halfway through this thing, asking relevant questions. Love how she was totally trying to absorb all the experience and knowledge present at the table.
In fairness to the interviewer, he's doing a pretty good job of sitting back and letting them talk, only stepping in to provide little shifts in the discussion etc.
Definitely noticed that. I love when a moderator lets the interviewees direct the conversation if it's relevant.
She was listening, watching, observing, feeling everyone out and getting their perspectives. This is a sign of an intelligent woman.

B4 the STAR IS BORN movie, I never paid much attention to GA-GA. I always just considered her another one of those cookie cutter pop singers who flood the market these market these days. But, that woman is talented!
Hey, you gotta be a dam good singer for Barbara Streisand to notice you, and THEN INVITE YOU TO DINNER AT HER HOME!
Unicornbaby23 also she is a goddess.
38:28 Nicole turning around to Regina and saying "I love her" about gaga, with a big smile..just warmed my heart so much. i love how supprting and loving they are to each other.

I thought it was too distracting
ok improve your concentration skills then
She's like the friend we all need
my god, yes
I like her enthusiasm, too, but sometimes it seems a bit ingratiating.
I adore Glenn Close. She is just real. No pretense, no ego. And wise. So wise, and so talented.
She's often compared to Meryl. I find Meryl sooooooo pretentious in interviews. Glenn is a legend.
Hadeel Alshamari
Ironically my admiration for Glenn Close started in a movie she made with Meryl Streep; “The House of The Spirits”.
Glenn acting stole Meryl’s spot light in my opinion.
@@marias7599 I always thought Glenn Close should have been Oscar nominated for that film. She was absolutely heart breaking in it! But the movie itself was pretty weak so it never got much awards traction.
Glenn Close is actually way better than Meryl in terms of ACTING. Glenn did a lot of different roles and all slayed them. Meryl is just closer to the people in Hollywood that's why she's getting all these oscars. When in fact, the 2012 best actress was actually for Glenn. Albert Knobs is million times better than Iron Lady.
who else got a problem with kathryn hahn not being in the video title?
She absolutely deserves to be on the title. She’s amazing!
It was Agatha all along will take care of that
Meeee
Especially as she is both the first and last lady to speak!! Shocking! It was Kathryn all along :-)
unprofessional on the part of THR
To be honest I think Lady Gaga's questions brought the conversation to a more human aspect rather than just "you're a woman...talk about the me too movement". Because she's new to acting and she seems very interested in what the others have to say about ALLthe things: technicalities, what their personal lives are like...Gaga makes this thing better, I think. (which isn't to say that the others aren't good as well; they are all equally great )
Gaga does make things better, she’s brilliant, wildly intuitive and a genius.
You are right. It helps since she seems more drawn to acting than actual singing and that's ironic with that gifted voice.
She was very insightful in her comments and I loved it.
Gaga is one of the most interesting women of my lifetime I think. I thought she was such a weirdo when she first started getting popular. However the more I learned about and saw her the more I fell in love with her. I don't think there is anything she couldn't do if she wanted to. And she is so nice on top of it. Pink is another one that I think is pretty amazing. Neither of them really sing the kind of music I like ( I am a older male) but they have so much freaking talent.
Yeah this guy interviewing is a bafoon
22:22 "I do not believe a star is born in this film until the last frame of the movie when she looks into that camera. The star is born because the star is bravery. The star is perseverance. The star is the ability to continue, to go on in the face of trauma and persevere." - Lady Gaga
this moment is a vortex. Thank you!
38:06 What a beautiful little moment between Glenn Close and Gaga
I have always felt deeply connected to Kathryn Hahn. She is so in tune with everything. She deserves more credit than she receives. A true actress and empath.
I haven't really known much of her nor do I think I've seen her in film but I am so looking forward to doing so and seeing her in WandaVision later tonight.
This comment aged like fine wine.
Yes she is underrated
The way she looks at Rachel Weisz UGH
Love her and this interview made me love her more. All of them are great.
kathryn seems like she'll be fun to go drink with. rachel is just so eloquent and feels so ethereal but also down to earth. nicole is such an enigma but when she starts to talk you can hear her drawing back those curtains. regina is soooooooooo powerful, the way she uses her voice, her stares, she seems like she truly experiences life viscerally. glenn is so wise and so poised. she feels like a mother that never scolds, but always tries to make you see the lesson in everything. gaga became such a human in this video. the times the other actresses would talk about their roles, their children and the careers they've had- she would just sit and listen and yearn. it was beautiful to see. she really seemed so interested and she looked she was incredibly humbled to sit amongst them.
perfectly said. I love this.
CharLton Basson Yes she seemed very child like and in awe! I really like her!!
Glenn and Gaga had the most energy and articulation. I thought Rachel cut to the chase quite smartly in her remarks. No one bored me!
Very well said! Agree about Lady gaga, although Ive known that she has a deep, thoughtful, inciteful, vulnerabile side about her for while now. What I found interesting was how she was so engaged, And really seemed to soak it all in and value the rest of the women's advice and insight from their storied careers and experience with acting. Although she is "new" to acting, I was still very impressed with her answers and self awareness for it being her first film. Im very excited to see where her acting careers moves to, especially since she has the talent to combine her music career into anything she does. Shes a force to be reckoned with, in my opinion. I also really enjoyed everybody else's answers and for the women I am not as familiar with, this made me want to see more of their work!
+Razzles819 i agree a 1000%
Everything that Glenn Close does or Nicole Kidman is an acting masterclass.
@@CezaraL. This was mostly on who they ought frontrunner were for the Golden Globe. But Regina King is probably my favorite performance among these ladies.

Why is it that the men get to talk in depth about their craft but for the women, the focus is immediately put on “women’s issues”?
Youre right but cmon man the #metoo movement like just happened. It's not out of line to bring it up to a full round table of female actors no?
Because they are the ones who know how it's showing up. We should not give two shits about what a man says about a womens issue. Only that they support it and that is it.
I would be inclined to believe that you are a man, and in that aspect, one that has put 0 thought on what being a woman means in today's world and how he afects that and he is affected by that.
@@cesaroviedo6345 I'm actually a woman and I believe you may have misunderstood my point. The metoo movement is incredibly important and I definitely love hearing these intelligent women discuss it. However, I do think it could have been handled a little better. These amazing women deserve an opportunity to discuss their work in-depth. I think a discussion on metoo could have been added onto that, instead of taking time out of the professional discussion to do so.
@@BardocksSynphony It's not out of line at all, but I feel like the women got less time to discuss their work than the men did which seems a little unfair. Imo it would have been better to have a separate discussion on that very important issue :)
I love the fact that Regina King not only deeply understands her own character, but other characters within the story as well, which definitely allows her to add on to how she acts in and around the other characters.

Agreed!
He absolutely sucks as an interviewer.
Yeah i totally agree. Moderator not needed
Don't agree a mediator gets the conversation going.... think the actors appreciate that .. why not just enjoy
Glenn Close commenting on the burden of the industry to make room and nurture actors who have been pushed aside (LGBTIQ+, POC and others) is AMAZING!
Glenn Close seems very amazed by Lady Gaga. I love how she is with her.
Glenn Close is a friend of Gaga's mom
Well that makes sense then.
They are in the Illuminati together. 15 mins in and Gaga even says, “sorcery”. So many people are worshipping these people/ actors that practice witchcraft.
@@taras4352 And what about it? We love sorcery
@@taras4352 I love sorcery and the devil 😈 ❤️
when Kathryn Hahn said that "women's stories aren't niche", I remember Cate Blanchett's acceptance speech for winning Best Actress in 2014 when she said the same phrase "for those of us who are foolishly clinging to the idea that women stories, with female roles at the center are niche, they are not. People wanna see them and in fact, they earn money" I'm not really sure about the words but you get the point.
Lady Gaga is soooooo eloquent in her speech. Such a wise young lady.
I thought she really wanted to prove to the others that she had acting qualification but she didn't state it in a pushy way so yes I would agree she's very eloquent.
"Lady Gaga IQ is estimated at 166, which is considered as a genius and in top 0.1% the population of the world." Stephen hawking's iq was 160 and einstein's iq is estimated to be about the same as hawking. that would set lady gaga's iq to be higher than both.
@Lestat Luka the reason why you haven't accomplished anything with that iq so high is because you're here in the comment section fighting people just having a conversation. I'm not even a gaga fan lol it was just to prove how smart she is, not saying that she's more important than any of the two aforementioned.
Gaga got in Tisch School of the Arts at NYU at the early age of 17 years old when only a group of 20 people get that chance to enter early, she is a genius! And the way she handled her career, putting a deep concept and meaning behind every live performance she did, every fashion outfit had something to do with the visuals she envisioned for each album of hers and specifically each single she released, from the clothes, to the music video to the live performances, the red carpets, the fashion from Hotel to her cars letting paparazzi take her picture so the media focused on that and not her personal life, everything was so well thought, genius! And you can't deny every other pop star wanted to imitate her style, fashion & performances after her, before no musician was seen wearing high couture from designers, after her every award show was full of crazy over the top outfits, makeup and wigs lol you have to push the boundaries to change the World and she did, she made everyone uncomfortable but that gave us iconic pop culture moments that nobody will ever forget. Genius!
I find it wholesome that all the other actresses are in a way comforting Gaga and giving advise and encouragement, whether it be about future roles or kids and maintaining a career. It's just another reminder that woman can instantly connect no matter race, age, or experience. Very refreshing to see.
Dezzychioino Gaga is entirely respectful and humble around these women also - as she always has been. She's earned huge respect and honour in the entertainment industry tbh. Proud of that woman

Ready for Female actors to be asked about things other than me too, like their incredible talent
Mina F do you not think it’s important to keep the momentum going? Get new opinions out there, keep the movement alive? Or do you want them not to talk about it? Let the momentum stop?
Em Em they’re not bringing anything new to the conversation, it’s just the same thing said over and over again, the same questions asked. I’m over it. I care about the craft of acting, and the art of cinema. I think of women as artists in that industry, who should be able to talk about their craft the way men do, not just about what it’s like to be a woman in that industry. It’s not equality that the male artists are allowed to talk about anything and women are just allowed to talk about being women, it’s reductive.
Mina F what if this is the first video someone sees, and they’re introduced opinions directly from actresses about this movement? That’s the whole point about PR and exposure.. it’s so important to keep talking about something and keep it in peoples minds. Compare it to a missing persons case, you have to keep it in the news and headlines and on the streets to keep the case moving! So if someone watched this for the first time, and learned something or heard of the movement for the first time, I think that’s worth it. Would you agree?
Em Em No. On what planet. The only people watching an hour long oscars round table are people who are at least somewhat into the movie industry, and NONE of those people aren’t well aware of what Me Too is. My grandmother knows what Me Too is. They’ve talked about it, and talked about it again, they talked about it last year. Let women talk about something else, I’ll repeat, it’s reductive.
Mina F don’t be ignorant, you can’t assume everyone knows about a topic that is specific to Hollywood. Hollywood is in the U.S, think of people outside the U.S., even people outside of the EU. It is important to keep talking about this, it can change a lot in the world for women.

It's a shame he started there and they went on and on about the current climate instead of allowing these fine actors to discuss their craft. By starting the discussion there, the mediator immediately put the emphasis on the more generic notion of "women" instead of focusing their individual work and achievements. Tiresome.
That's why I think they should have a mix of men and women in these talks
Branner it’s a prerequisite for the women roundtables every year and I’m so tired of it. By actually talking about their art is what is proving women have great stories to tell. None of the women’s performances were the same and yet they get little time to explore the many facets of being complicated and complex women through their roles. I wish actresses would refuse to answer these questions and just talk about their art the same way the men’s roundtables get to do every year, no matter the controversies in the industry. Which is I prefer all the other panels save for the women’s.
Helena D. Exactly. I couldn’t watch all of it either. Such talents too. A shame.
I love how you think “women” is a “generic notion”...Interesting
They do move on to talk about their craft for the majority of the interview
Gaga's last bit at the end, wow
I love that they’re all wearing red.
A woman mediator at the women’s roundtable would be nice
Why? What does it matter wether the mediator is a man or woman?
@@nachoalfonso2614 I agree, it doesn't really matter. But there is a female mediator who has been a part of past roundtables. She was really good, not sure if she still works at THR.
My thought exactly
anne summers You really think these are all women? Most of them are transgender’s. Just saying
He moved swiftly past some things that a woman would have sat in and elaborated on.
So nice to see Lady Gaga being taken seriously, in opposition to the bad stares that almost every director gave Bradley, just because it was his first movie as director.
Nah Cooper held his own in that discussion for sure
the villain sure did! But nonetheless, it felt like *some* of his peers were kinda scorning
Yes, there seems to be a huge aversion these days towards actors turning directors. They are still considered actors. Look at the Oscars, the directors branch didn't nominate Bradley Cooper even though everyone agreed he had one of the best directed movies of the year. Same happened with Ben Affleck. It just seems directors are less welcoming...
jajceboy which is curious, given that he got nominated to the directors syndicate awards...
@@Denis-89 You would think Jordan Peele would have lent some credibility to that transition already. Everyone universally embraced him as a director.
Lady Gaga's eloquence truly shines in this interview. Her insights are profound, and she speaks with such grace and depth. It’s inspiring to see her articulate complex thoughts with such clarity. Her presence among these incredible actresses elevates the entire discussion. What an empowering roundtable!
Rachel Weisz!!!
MARIA KALI a Queen
Right? I adore her!
I’m surprised that nobody is asking “why are they all in red” but also it’s refreshing to hear we are all focused on what these women are talking about.
zziggy808 i did wonder that
The Hollywood Reporter is also a magazine, so the round table is printed months before it is uploaded to TH-cam, and it comes with a cover shoot. So the outfits they wear are chosen by the magazine (there may be some collaborative efforts with the actresses but it’s the magazine’s vision) so that they can shoot the cover while they do the round table.
Posible, color rojo es el color del poder, la fuerza y determinación.
I like how Gaga talk about jaw movement, the expression when you acting, how interacting with audience, how use mic properly, she such as detail person!
I love how they’re all wearing different shades of red. Because they’re all so bold and beautiful!
I love how Gaga is so INTELLECTUAL re: acting, whereas most people just go w basic adverbs: EXCITING, FUN, OMG AHA HA. Love Gaga.
She's a lyricist it would be odd if she would
Can Stefani be any more awesome? Her graciousness, her intelligence, her sharing, the way she pretty much takes over without taking over but asks the questions that are so relevant & all the time, from start to finish, visibly sitting there in genuine respect & awe of her peers & thankful for the opportunity to be there & thankful the lessons she's soaking up like a child. Edit - at 38:08 when Glenn Close compliments her, is it me or does it look like Stefani is fighting to hold in the tears?

Lady Gaga has insight that is so relevant in being in touch with the viewer's perspective!
Everything that Glenn Close does or Nicole Kidman is an acting masterclass.
Love Regina King SO SO SO much. So smart, so articulate, so humble .
Me and my friends can't get conversations to go this deep without beer.
I like how relaxed this is and the inter-interviewing. It's nice. What's amazing is the interviewer asks linear and uncomplicated questions in my opinion, which is expected as a basic interview but the interviewees actually ask each other questions about things they are genuinely interested in not only as women but as actors.
I'm in love with Glenn Close and Lady Gaga's love for each other 🧡⚡️
Something that I have noticed about this comments section that I love is that the comments are almost perfectly divided between every actress in this discussion and almost all of the comments are incredibly positive and intellectual. It’s a nice breath of fresh air
