@@brianmatthews4149 not true, I'm a retired Pipefitter as of May this year, yearly salary was over 100k/year. With SS, pension and investments, I'm making over what I made with my yearly salary.
For me, it's the heat and healthcare system. The heat has become unbearable for me. With temps above the 100s for about 4.5 months, most people are left to stay in their air conditioned homes, cars, shopping, etc. Plus, it has become expensive to keep those A/C homes cool. Depending on how large your home is the APS bills run into the hundreds now. I'm sure you make people aware of this when representing them as an agent. Sure, you can get solar but the upfront costs can be high as well. The second reason I'm considering getting out is the declining healthcare system here. Try to get an appointment with a doctor here isn't easy if you need to see one within a week. Not going to happen. You're left to go to Urgent Care or the ER if necessary. My understanding for this is there just isn't enough doctors who reside here to handle the population there is, not to mention an aging population. Yes, we get the snowbirds who definitely contribute to the economy but they also come here for their medical care and it has caused quite a backlog. Not blaming them but it's a problem. I do enjoy Phoenix in the winter/spring. It is the best in the country. But the heat plus the declining healthcare system has me rethinking things.

No one from California chooses to vacation in Phoenix during the summer. Since 2018, and especially since 2020, I have noticed more and more cars with California plates on our freeways year-round. I worked for an HOA in Gilbert for a well known affluent community and let’s just say the idea of a “safe” neighborhood is an illusion. The things that went on there would blow your mind. So yes high crime is everywhere!!!! A lot of these were reported to the HOA and never the police which is also kind of mind blowing.

It is sad that AZ has some of the worst real estate agents (totally dishonest and lots of racial shenanigans behind the scenes-seen it firsthand and I’m not a minority) and car dealers in the country. And, I’m older, have lived in many states and speak from vast experience.
@shawn. I am disappointed that arizona treats military and veterans poorly. Even California and Illinois have better programs. At 76 and totally disabled, I could care less about a free hunting or fishing license. Top examples are zero property taxes and free college tuition in a public university. In arizona, if you and your spouse have over $37,500 income, you pay full profit property tax. In most states, it is zero. Arizona is one of the worst and lowest in the country for military and for disabled veterans.
Why would you expect to pay less property taxes just because you are a veteran? You use the services and should expect to pay for that. City services cost money and if you expect a free ride, not going to happen nor should it. Expecting freebies at the expense of others is wrong. Nothing is for nothing.
@@rockville34 Many people do not consider 100% disabled veterans as doing nothing. I regret you think 100% disabled veterans as not worthy of tax breaks.
It was nice when it was just 2 lane roads and space between Gilbert and Mesa and the only pollution cloud was over Phx. All of the Orange trees east of Gilbert smelled awesome when blooming back then. And my dad though $19k per acre was expensive then. lol
Arizona does not have company’s bringing high paying jobs. Companies are moving here to a point. However they are keeping the lower salaries based on old CPI index rates. For example a CFO in Phoenix is $100k to $200k lower than San Diego, NY or Chicago.

Enduring the summer heat for 3 months is way better than the alternative. There's always somewhere you have to shelter in for months because of the weather, it's way better in AZ. Just don't think of the summers the same as where you came from.
So many that have come from a cold snowy place have no problem with our summer heat so they can enjoy the beautiful weather the rest of the year. Glad you are enjoying it here!
I moved to Arizona thirteen years ago from North Carolina. With the promise of a job. When I got here to Arizona. I found no job at all. I decided to stay looking for work. Since I spent every dollar I had. On the trip out here. For a job that wasn't happening. Immediately, I got labeled homeless by everyone. Needless to say, the last thirteen years. Have not been kind to me. Or my family in Arizona. My best advice to people. Who is looking to move somewhere else. Go to New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Florida. Do not move to Arizona. Leave this place to the locals. It's how they want it.

Why the law is not enforced ?
Criminals come to the nicer communities because that’s where the “stuff” is at that criminals want.
This is the price paid for allowing liberal de-criminalization nonsense to take hold.
@@juliel5494 we live in a well known affluent area in the east valley. There have recently been a string of homicides this year. It doesn't feel safe at all now. The area has changed in the last 5 years. The people have become ghetto even though the prices have gone way up.
That’s scary!! People need to call the police.
Don't move here. I've lived her since 1982 and can't wait to go back to the Midwest. It's too hot. It's too expensive. Housing is ridiculously overpriced. Education is rated 50 of 50 states. Crime is everywhere. Homelessness is rampant. Anywhere in America is better than Phoenix, AZ regardless of what this realtor is saying.
First of all, thank you for your service! 🇺🇸 Our military and VA's deserve to be treated well I agree.
Politicians in AZ also do not support veterans
Why politicians in AZ don’t like veterans; because they fallow what their cult leaders tell them about veterans being suckers and losers.
It was nice when it was just 2 lane roads and space between Gilbert and Mesa and the only pollution cloud was over Phx. All of the Orange trees east of Gilbert smelled awesome when blooming back then. And my dad though $19k per acre was expensive then. lol
i wanted to leave Phoenix Arizona because its to HOT HOT HOT............I hate it every summer.
It’s 9/28 and still 116 freaking degrees out here. Getting about time to leave for me too.
Arizona does not have company’s bringing high paying jobs. Companies are moving here to a point. However they are keeping the lower salaries based on old CPI index rates. For example a CFO in Phoenix is $100k to $200k lower than San Diego, NY or Chicago.
I lived in south Scottsdale for 35 years and then moved back to Ohio and I’ve been here for 10 years now and I really miss Arizona and since I’ve been watching your videos I’m now considering a move back to South Scottsdale. Or maybe I’m just homesick either way thank you for putting information like this out it really does help with big decisions like moving😳
People are very grumpy and mean here in phoenix area. No one ever looks happy. Its depressing.
I think that's everywhere
@@UncleMiltynah it’s az
Horrible traffic, air quality and school. Too hot.
I came from Oregon and got tired of the rain in the western part of the state and lived in the high desert in Bend where it's too cold for 6 months.
Great news to hear! See ya👋
Yep!
Please stop moving here. We're full. 😆
🙂
People come and go mostly they don't like it here
@@lionm8699you obviously don't live in Arizona or you wouldn't be saying this
I moved to Arizona thirteen years ago from North Carolina.
NOT ENOUGH ARE LEAVING ARIZONA
Wow I've lived here recently 20 years, City of Maricopa Az, and 3 plus years in the 90,s in Chandler. .....
Retired in 2019.....
You learn to be a dehydrated reptile, just increase your fluid intake. . Cactus water, coconut water, low sugar variety.... Eat a Watermelon...increase your potassium!
Please forbid no petrified dung! Drink more water!
I would just love to be a snowbird I wish I could afford it..... Then again I run my AC here from the end of November till Thanksgiving Day every year...... You need monitoring of the home if you leave for that long period of time......property management....another expense....a okay if affordable!
Amazing weather is a joke. It’s actually pretty awful.
WATER CHALLENGES TOO!
Coming from back east...the traffic here is really not bad at all. It usually takes a wreck to cause any sort of backup
I agree, I don't think our traffic is that bad... but do understand those coming from a smaller town feeling like it's bad.
@@shawn.shackelton😂 Traffic is kinda rough and this is coming from someone raised in Atlanta .
Best scenario is to live in the East Valley October through April then Prescott or Flagstaff May through September if you can afford it. You get the best of both worlds.
Prescott is like 450 SF to build a home. Lol.
I agree! Nice short 1.5 - 2 hr drive to get out of the heat & beautiful areas!
Every time I land In sky harbor I am reminded how much I love it here. AZ is not for everyone I used to suffer from seasonal depression when I lived in the east coast, it went away when I moved here.
Moved to AZ in 2020 which was my dream realized. Could only afford to live in Buckeye which was fine but the 60 minute plus commute twice a day was brutal on the 10. I moved out in 2022 and it broke my heart. I just couldn’t afford to live anywhere near work in Glendale. 😢
If you have respiratory issues don't come here the quality of the air is very poor at least 5 months of the year .
And water is an issue and extremely hot lack of rain it get worse Each years 😩😩! And be ready to pay big fat A/C bills each months.
Lol. My grandfather was an Architect major at ASU. He was part of the team that built the old bridge out of Mill Ave. I grew up on 68th street. Went to Coronado.
It is that bad. Don't eve think of moving here. Stay in Chicago or Los Angeles. Both of those cities are paradises compared to anywhere in Arizona.
He He He
Oh yeah…LA the Paradise……
Paradises only with not as hot summer.
Spend winters in Chicago and summers in Phoenix. Dare to be different!
Been here since 1979. Leaving as soon as I can, for all the usual reasons listed in so many posts below.
I prefer to get through the summer so the rest of the year is so beautiful ! I think it’s worth it.
Yeah you stay inside in air conditioning during summer days and go outside at night. You get used to it
My mom moved to AZ when she was 7, 80 yrs ago. I was born in Phoenix and lived in Pinetop and Sierra Vista, then grew up in southern california. We would spend summers in Phoenix at my grandfather's Chevron station (now the Copper Star Coffee) and the house next store (now Readings by Olivia). Many relatives throughout Phoenix and its suburbs. For the last 40 years, we have lived fulltime in a rv and spend our winters in AZ. When we decide to settle in 1 place it will be in AZ, just don't know what area. And as long as it doesn't become more like California.
Thanks for sharing your story, love hearing things like this about peoples history with AZ.
unfortunately way more are leaving CA and coming to AZ.
CA is not the only place people are coming from in my experience.
Again, something horrible had to have occurred in California for so many of them to leave and to choose Phoenix as their destination.
If I win $100000000 ill make a 112 mile long lake that will be 12 and a half miles wide in the sate of Arizona
If you can't take the heat, go somewhere else.
If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
moved to Az 3 years ago from California. I love it here.
I finished college at the University of Iowa. I am Controls Engineer for Ingram Micro. I make sure nobody dies. Or try too.
The roads in the West Valley simply cannot handle the massive population and condo explosions within recent years.
i remember being 14 flew from detroit area to sky harbor in july...back when you walked off the ramp outside....got to the 747 door at 65 degrees to 114 in the shade.....HOT HOT HOT HOT....knocks you over so hot!!!!!
Back to Calif 😅😂 too many move to Phoenix area
Dear Ms. Shackelton, I am one of those natives you mention that has seen it all since the old days long before real freeways. The reason I left and left a lot of family behind in AZ was because of all the people from California who moved into AZ. LIke you. So to me, you have always been the enemy of Phoenix. Glad you like the place. Go back to California and take ALL of your friends with you please. Then maybe I can afford to live in my own home town again.
Great video my friend!
I hate it here.
Took the Phoenix Black Pill...
@@jefesalsero No choice Family moved here
But the hiking is amazing and the heat is only extreme half the year. 😂
I had family moved because they could not buy a house here. They bought thier home of thier dreams back in VA. I would love to move back there. I can't stand the heat. It effects my business. And I should be back east because that is where most of my customer base is. But I'm only here because I will not leave my 6 year old grandson. Or I would be gone back to the Ol Smokey Mountains.
BUT Az is so many times better then anywhere in California.
YES, The valley is TOO Hot, TOO Congested!
Prescott is Relatively Gr8 & Beautiful..., Yet Prices Greedy/Rediculous Sooooo Many buyers!
So Selling Prescott hm & have an Accepted Offer in Maysville Kentucky, Mason County (NE part of Ky in the Trees/Ruralish yet 30 minutesor LESS to CostCo, Hospital, Diwntown, Walmart... AND), 2 Blocks from Ohio River, just under 3400 sf Brick Historical $245K😎🙃😎🙃😎🙃

Not sure why that's so funny... but Ok
@@shawn.shackelton just because you don’t get snow doesn’t mean you have amazing weather, four months of 100+ is not amazing weather 😂
It depends on what your definition of "Amazing" is. I was amazed again today that the temperature gauge in my car read 114 at 5:30pm.
@@jefesalsero😂
I'm selling my home in NJ, moving to a townhouse I have in Southern AZ. I can go away for the 3 hottest months with just the real estate tax saved by leaving NJ. AZ COL may be above average, but it is far less than the northreast. It's all relative.
11 years ago I was able to afford a 2 bed 1 bath for $500 a month living comfortably with my fixed income …. Now I have a 1 bed 1bath with a spouse and kids and we are scraping by the skin of our teeth’s just to get by 😢
The air quality is bad here, almost all year long.
One is heat second everything is high price
When people say Arizona... They think heat... It's hot... But they don't know northern Arizona..
Downtown Prescott gets a few heavy snow days, yet Street clears fix that Right Away!😎
My area, Just up Hill from Watson & Willow Lakes Does get Snow Like Downtown, Yet it does get Colder than few other States/Cities I've Lived!
I'll TAKE that ANY Day vs Heat of phx...
Then there's Walker/Potato Patch about 11 miles S. of Hwy 69 past CostCo, that has 3+ miles off pavement, about 2000+ higher Elevation, BEAUTIFUL - once get there, whether it Snow/Bad ir summer, not a bunch of Fulltime Livers there, yet NOT for me to Be as Social is I am & to drive THAT regularly!😎🙄 They get their Snow cleared relatively quickly, yet Still need FWD or 4WD
Yes. It’s pretty lousy in many respects.
Actually heading to Phoenix right now for vacation!!
Enjoy your time here!
Summer really is the best time for a Phoenix vacation. Enjoy!
@@jefesalseroeveryone asked me why I went there during the summer it’s cheaper.
In the middle of Summer?😂😂😂😂😂😂
Auto insurance is extremely high here too.
Im not playing around Ill be the one that will turn Arizona more of a country sate
This time of year I spend too much time daydreaming of other locales via Zillow. Not so much after September.
I live in Sierra Vista, it's a nice place. It's not as crazy hot as Phoenix or as expensive.
What about the water supply?
At the moment the main issue is ground water pumping. Ground water recharge helps a bit. Once Lake Mead goes then our in state reservoirs will be stretched to the breaking point with the current population.
“Beautiful landscapes, amazing weather”
Speak for yourself.
I’m tired of dirt world, everything is bone dry here and beige. The suburban sprawl doesn’t help with the heat either.
It feels like I’m in an oven 24/7 here. I’m leaving soon and this is my home state.
And before anyone says it, I’m not moving to California. There 50 states in the US! I don’t care if Arizona is popular.
I'm in Tucson.way too hot, mean people, want to go back to imperial Beach?
If I win $100000000 Ill make an 112 and a half mile long Lake by 12 and a half miles wide AT is widest point That Will have one 6 mile long by 3 mile wide Island in the middle of the Lake fun
High rental prices
Love the heat so I'll stay here if you don't like the heat don't come here we are too many here so stay where you at.
👍
Wouldn’t move to Arizona if you paid me. Can’t stand the 100+ degrees every single day in the summer. No thanks. We are very happy here in the Southeastern US.
Lots of weird people in the comments
Because of the driving and the peoples entitled karen additudes there
There’s the door, bye!
Do snow birds get targeted for burglary? Like when they are out of state.
No, but outsiders are not welcome. Expect to get gang stalked by the Mormons and their friends in the witchcraft communities that are all over the place in that city, and surrounding areas. There are more Mormon temples in AZ than Catholic Churches
No, they get targeted (and hopefully ticketed) for driving like idiots on our freeways.
Usually if your home is getting broken into it means one of two things. You live in an area were the wealthy and well off live. Or you are a white person living in one of the poorer areas where the blacks and mexicans will break into your home to steal from you.
Absolutely. The state has changed horribly.
We moving over no matter what. Freedom, not sure what this is referring to :). I’m from CA and I feel free. ✨
Cali you have no freedom at all government trying to tell u what to do for everything all there regulations are ridiculous and cost of living is ridiculous
Hmm. Dying and it is a 98 today with 10% humidity. I don't think I could take Pheonix/Scottsdale.
Don't try. It terrible.
LOL, yep it gets pretty hot in the summer!! Thanks for watching.
2 reasons why people leave Arizona. #1 they can’t handle the heat (weak) #2 like most insecure people, they think if they move to a new place their life will somehow become a great cause it’s the city of 4 million people that is the problem not them.
Phoenix is a Los Angeles suburb.
I live in Vail Arizona ❤❤
