Butane isn't used for welding cutting and related processes because the flame is far too oxidising and temperature is far cooler than acetylene. It doesn't need a flashback arrestor as the gas pressure / calorific value and flame temperature is far lower than propane acetylene propylene or Air Products Apachi gas.
Dear Mr. Perkins, thanks for watching and you comment. Regarding butane you are right. This is not very common for welding and butane alone might not require a flashback arrestor. However, if oxygen or compressed air from cylinders or lines is also used, FBA are recommended. On the one hand, gas transfer, e.g. from the oxygen side, is to be prevented, on the other hand, however, gas or flame flashovers are also possible if a sudden combustion is caused by incorrect operation of the valves. Best regards Your WITT Team
A check valve is another name for a non-return valve. WITT has a wide range of non-return valves available. It stops the return gas flow, thereby preventing the formation of an explosive gas mixture. But it will stop a flashback only in specific cases and for special conditions regarding gas type and pressure. For this you require a Flashback Arrestor. A high-quality flashback arrestor according to DIN EN ISO 5175-1 made by WITT does already include a gas non-return valve together with the flame arrestor and a temperature-sensitive cut-off valve. It's always difficult to give you an advice without knowing your application. But in standard applications you normally do not require an additional check valve if you use one of these WITT FBAs according to DIN EN ISO 5175-1. For individual consulting and the selection of the right valve please use the contact form at www.wittgas.com/contact/ Best regards Your WITT Team

Hello. Thanks for your request. In most cases WITT FBAs are used in industrial application. In general, many of our FBAs are suitable for LPG. Please note that our technical information regarding LPG is based on test with Propan. Without having more detailed information we can't give you an advice whether one of our products is suitable for your application or not. We suggest to contact us via our website www.wittgas.com/contact.html. So one of our application specialists will be able to contact you and to answer your question. Best regards, Your WITT Team
There is no need to use a flashback arrestor on a domestic LPG installation at all because you are not using oxygen as part of it and it's totally unnecessary. It's only when you use Oxy / LPG processes that a flashback arrestor is necessary.
