    This time we tackled the painting (and ended up painting everything TWICE because we changed our minds on our color choice.) I re-installed all the cabinets, upgraded the galley counter top as well as some other little add ons like installing our trailer hitch! Hope you enjoy Our Pop-Up Camper Remodel, Part 2!

    Hey! Pro camper tip, ditch the inside sink and get an outdoor sink and table. They are pretty cheap. Then get a piece of large wood and make a new table top over the sink hole. I attached it with nuts and bolts so it’s easily removebale when you drive with it, also looks rustic! Have fun goodluck!

    Curious why you didn't paint the cabinets before putting them back in. Seems like it would've been easier and less taping since you already had them out.

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. We weren’t sure on color so we chose to install then paint. And as shown we painted again after the first color. It wasn’t too bad painting while installed. Thanks for watching and the comment!

    Why didn’t I paint when they were out of the camper. Instead of risking it on the new floor. And being cramped all awkward

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  ปีที่แล้ว

      We painted some of them while out. It wasn’t a risk as we used tape. Didn’t bother us at all. Also we wanted to see the look immediately which worked well since we changed the color because we didn’t have to wait for paint to dry then install to see color match. To each their own I guess.

    Hi. Love this video! Very helpful! Question: any particular reason u removed veneer and sanded the doors only but not the cabinets? Im starting mine soon and would like to know if the removal and sanding made a difference?.. I was planning on just starting w/ primer 😂

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! We did that because it was peeling. The other areas weren’t peeling and don’t have that veneer so we left them alone. The reason the veneer needed peeled is because it would be obvious even with paint and it doesn’t sand well. Hope that helps.

    This is looking great! Is there a reason that you did not paint interior while it was out of the camper? Curious as I would like to do this in mine

      Thanks! Great question. We felt that they were clean enough and that it wouldn’t be worth the hassle so opted not to. After a few trips we felt good about that decision.

    Great video! I appreciate the step by step. Curious as to what type of paint and primer you used on the cabinets. Did you go with oil, latex or alkyd? The blue cabinets are beautiful with the gray floor!

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you!
      It was all Sherwin Williams. We used their primer and then the cabinets is their “Emerald” line which is Urethane Trim Enamel in “Seaworthy” color. Hope that helps!

    did you sand the cabnets at all before you painted them or did you just clean then paint? im planning on remodeling my pop-up and im afraid of the paint peeling off

      We peeled the fake wood plastic sheets off the cabinet doors, sanded then painted! Hope your project turns out great.

  • @kevin_rsg_18
    @kevin_rsg_18 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We're about to tackle our pop up remodel too! Any reason you pealed the wood-grain film off the cabinet doors, but not off the cabinet bodies and walls? Was it just because the doors were already peeling?

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Great question. Yep you are right! The cabinet bodies are also much thinner than the doors and since they were not peeling we didn’t feel a need to bother. Best of luck on your project. Would love to see pics! Shoot them over on instagram sometime!
