I don't think he was trying to compete with anyone. He always smiling even when he got red card. He played the game to enjoy. My favorites are - R9, Zidane, R10, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar. I mean a prime Ronaldinho is arguably among the 5 best players ever (with Messi, Zidane, Maradona and R9 for me, just looking at their prime level and achievements). The guy could do everything (scoring, passing, dribbling, long range, free kicks) with speed, strength and above all: Magic. He just falls short compared to the other legends of the game cause of how short his prime was (2003-07).

But yeah Ronaldinho was the ultimate entertainer, he was such an iconic footballer during the mid 2000's like you'd see him in so many advertising campaigns with Pepsi, Nike, the EA FIFA games etc. Then of course in games you'd see him doing flip-flaps, stepovers, juggling the ball while in play it was truly mesmerising and to top it all off he did it with a smile on his face demonstrating to us the fans why football is called the beautiful game. If Ronaldinho carried on the form he showed during the mid 2000's(2004-2006) for another 10 years I don't think anyone would have disputed him being labelled as the GOAT.

I have to also say Messi because i took a liking to Barcelona on the playstation and he became my one of my favourite players from way back in 2008. I spent hours watching Van Persie and Messi on youtube and learning from them. Whats funny is that they r both left footed and I am right footed but i took that oppurtunity to shoot with my left like they did and start practising my weaker foot and i am proud to say that my weaker foot is no longer a 'weaker foot' and its helped to become a player who can shoot with both feet.
