What Oliver said didn't apply to Barry because, unlike Oliver, Barry didn't push Iris away or keep secrets from her once they decided to be together. That's how he got and kept the girl: by being honest and trustworthy. Also, Oliver didn't realize how close Barry and Iris were, even before they started dating.

Crazy how I’m rewatching all of these episodes now in 2024 lol. Season one and two and 3 were the best episodes honestly.
