Yes, that was sensible and quite realistic. Barry had the chance to try another relationship as well. He wasn't hung up on Iris, even though he still had strong feelings for her. I also like that she confessed her feelings to him too. This is a well-written love story.

Why the writers insist on making it seem like Eddie proposed to Iris (she was not his fiance). He never did! And she never wore his ring in season 1 or 2!!!!🙄. Also, Eddie stating in season 9 that Barry STOLE his life is not really accurate! Eddie is the one who actually tried to steal Barry's life since in the original timeline Barry and Iris were married based on the newspaper!!Therefore, they were likely to head in the direction of dating in season 1 (if Barry had confessed earlier), then marriage later on if Eddie had not shown up!
Yep. Even when she was dating Eddie, she told her father twice that "Barry was too late". Meaning, had she known how Barry felt earlier, Eddie would have never even stood a chance. And Eddie knows it. But I guess the crystal made him delusional.
