    Nice! I really need to visit Munich. I've seen so many great street photographers posting from Germany lately! I just switched my T5 for an H2s and you're making me miss the T bodies already haha. Maybe we can stay connected here as fellow street photographers here on TH-cam? Following along for sure!

    Oh man, this is the lens I was really missing when I was shooting on a Fuji camera a few years ago. I always shoot at 28mm focal lentgh and zone focusing, and I looked everywhere for a lens like this. Did not find it, so tried the color-skopar 21mm instead, with an adapter. It was ok, but not really 28mm and bigger size... so I ended up moving to Sony full frame cameras.
    Regarding this lens, it looks great. I have had a few color-skopars and they are amazing. The only thing I don't like is that in the focusing ring, there is almost no room between 1m and Infinity, almost the whole distance scale is covered from 0.3 to 1m... when I hardly shoot there. My 25 and 28mm color-skopars have it better, with a nice space between 1m - 1.5m - 2m - 3m - 6m - Infinity.

    Excellent video. You have taken some very nice photos. I have a manual TTartisans 25mm f2 which I bought as an experiment as it was so inexpensive. I now use it quite regularly on my X-Pro3 and X-T20 and it takes great pictures. I agree that manual lenses on digital cameras is a very nice photographic experience.

    My Voigtländer 27mm Ultron F2.8 is practically glued to my X-Pro3, absolutely love the combo. For some reason kind of hard to find these lenses in Norway, but I've been looking for the 18mm. I never really got used to 28mm equivalent for street, it's a little too wide, but challenging myself can only be good!

      Thank you for your feedback! 28mm can be challenging - for years i solely used 35mm but 28mm adds an extraportion of grandiosity to some shots, but you are right, it 's tricky sometimes! Best to Norway!

    Great video dude, thanks for the insights and little Munich tour! I picked up the TTArtisans 25mm f2 on ebay for crazy cheap - purely to use for zone focusing with my X-Pro 2. I'm still finding my way with it and have missed focus a few times at f8, focus set to infinity. Will keep practicing!

    For me mf lenses are liberating. Especially for someone who like to do provocative things, when you re shooting through a glass and its reflection at the same time, the camera doesnt know where you want to focus. With an mf lens most of the time it cane be done even wide open by controling hyperfocal distance. Also it allows quicker and easier focus in very dim light. Sometimes I like an af lens but manuals certainly open more doors in the arsenal. Have been watching those voightlanders, but think Im going for the 23 1.2 first.

    I'm only now in the market for my first dedicated camera. I'm not sure I understand the benefit of a manual focus-only lens, can anyone explain? Is it not true that AF lenses can usually be set to MF? Why not have both available? Or is it just this specific lens, and the quality of the image it produces that is the main point?

    • @streetphotographyguy
      @streetphotographyguy  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! thank you for your feedback! So, I think the most important difference is the depth of field scale you normally don´t have on digital lenses. And -yes, this is kind of subjective- it´s another kind of feeling and joy of photographing, really hard to describe...you definitely have to try it out..

    • @RolandNoll-g1b
      @RolandNoll-g1b 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with Oliver, most modern AF lenses don't have a DOF scale. Most of them also don't have a focus distance scale. With a manual lens, a quick glance tells me everything I need for zone focusing: focus distance and approx. DOF for my aperture setting. With a manual focus lens I can also use muscle memory for focusing: turn the focus ring until it stops at infinity and than turn it a bit the other way. Modern AF lenses are mostly "focus by wire", meaning the focus rind doesn't stop at infinity you can turn it forever.

    Moin Meister..... 😉
    Ick denke, man kann gut alles an "Altglas" nutzen, was man noch so bei sich rumfliegen hat. Ob das olle Nikon 35mm f1,8 oder das Olympus 28mm f2.8. Es hat eben einen anderen Charme, als die neueren/neuesten Autofocus-Objektive, die man so kaufen kann. Es passt perfekt, "Altglas" an hypermoderne Kameras anzuflanschen.
    Für mich fällt die Streetfotografie längere Zeit aus, hab mir die Quadricepssehne im rechten Knie abgerissen( Stolperunfall) und kann mich nur mithilfe 2er Krücken und Orthese bewegen, das Bein nur bis max. 20 Kg belasten (für mehrere Wochen). Da macht das Fotografieren nur Semi-Spaß.🤕🙁
    Aber.....ich liebe deine Videos, sie bringen mich auf Ideen, die ich dann in einigen Monaten verwirklichen kann......oder Jahren, Ideen laufen ja nich weg 😉

    I’ve been using a Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 on my X-T4 for a while and the problem I find is that even at f11, using zone focus gets everything in acceptable focus, but you never know where critical focus will be…and when using the focus peaking, the depth o field is so large, even at f4.5, that the same thing happens…so few photos are REALLY sharp…humm..

    • @streetphotographyguy
      @streetphotographyguy  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! Thanks for your feedback. The Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 is a fantastic lens, but wide angles can make critical focus tricky. With zone focusing, ensure you’re precisely pre-setting focus to cover your subject’s range; this improves with practice. For focus peaking, pair it with magnified focus assist on the X-T4 to double-check the sharpest areas. Also, try using f8 instead of f11-this balances depth of field while reducing diffraction for sharper results. Lastly, aim to keep your main subject closer to the center of the frame, where the lens performs best. With time, you’ll find a rhythm that sharpens your street photography workflow. I hope that helps a bit!

    • @avallejo
      @avallejo 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Yeah, thanks…I’ll keep trying…my Voigtlander is M mount which I use with an adapter, M lenses supposedly don’t work as well on Fuji’s do to the thicker glass over the sensor compared to M bodies, maybe that’s a factor too…anyways…I’ve been considering the 18mm since it’s Fuji native and I like manual focus, but as I own the XF18mmf2, not sure it’s worth…

    Oh, you left our little hometown?! Well, I´m sure you will come over for visits more than once. At least I hope so.
    The ttartisan is a fun lens and you can´t go wrong for 75 Euros. Yeah, it´s kinda soft in the corners, even at f8. Yeah, it´s collecting flares when shooting into the sun. But other than that it´s reasonably sharp, built like a tank a makes you feel like shooting in the 60s or 70s. I'll bring that little one to NYC soon, can´t wait to see people smiling at this classic combo. Again, you can´t go wrong.
