Can you imagine this lady cleaning your house? She is absolutely beautiful inside and out. I wish we had this kind of person in the music industry now. We need you back, Ms. Jackson.

I just came across this and immediately clicked on it..This is POSITIVE AND BEAUTIFUL!! I HAD ALWAYS WONDERED WHO IS THE QUEEN OF GOSPEL.. The work you do is beautiful! I am from Arizona and had no idea until a year ago that Phoenix had its own Chitlin Circuit and it's own thriving Blues and Jazz music scene that was wiped out by urban development.. I would love to include this woman in my American musical studies and if she has surviving relatives I would love to interview them at some point! Thank you so much for the work that you do! Cultural heritage preservation work is NOT EASY and Freedmen, we are that one cultural group that has been so tough to keep reliable records for! Lamont....As you would do Faces In Death videos, @3:01, I noticed the crypt of Justin Wayne Weatherspoon Jr as he died aged 19 and was curious to know how he died. Upon Googling his name, he tragically was a victim of gun violence. Great video Lamont. Mahalia Jackson was truly an iconic gospel singer. Her rendention of Silent Night is one of the greatest christmas songs ever recorded.
I remember my parents bought a Christmas album with all the popular singers on it and Mahalia was one of them. I always tried to sing like her as she sang Away in a Manger. It was my understanding that she was not admitted to a certain hospital when she had her heart attack, and it was because of that and the time they wasted in order to treat her, that she passed away. That always made me very sad.
Me and my aunt would always watch Imitation of Life whenever it aired on TCM, but she passed away last year in October and couldn't bring myself to watch it a few weeks ago. When I heard Troubles of the World in the intro I couldn't hold back the tears.
