I created an account where I would just do my dailies and draft since I wanted to learn how to do it, over time I just realized how much I hate RNG in Magic altogether and now just sticking to my main account which is basically do drafts till I have about 2800 gems buy the remaining gems with money and everything else goes into opening packs. NGL I'm having way much more fun this way even if I have to wait till basically end of the expansion to start to craft all the decks that interest me in standard.
Thanks for sharing the pitfalls that even someone who knows the optimization strategies can fall into. It's easy to preach about how to get the most out of the game without pumping money into it but it can be harder to resist shifting metas and cards you *think* you'll need.
Thanks for the guide on f2p! I just started Arena a couple months ago, and your videos are helpful. I also try to get the 15 wins per day when I have the time because my account is so new.

I also agree with the ranked thing. im not trying to be a content creator nor am i so competitive that i need to only play mythic players. i would rather do my dailes, play mid week magic, craft jank in casual queue, optimize my mastery pass and just chill out. I only draft if i have available tokens. I try to take it easy.
@@coffeestout Yeah everyone wants to see Ranked play. Thats how u grow. The most popular mtg content creators i know are either Best of 3 constructed or Limited high rank.
"better" standard decks requires at least 40-45 rares which will drain your wildcard since almost all of the are wasted on lands that are not really being used in historic or timeless (most esper lands) mono / dual colored decks can only get so far usually plateauing on platinum quick draft can be a hit or miss, sometimes you get 7 wins 3 times in a row sometimes you wiped out 2-4 wins no matter how good your deck is surefire way to use your gold if you are starting is to just buy packs from store, it would take longer time but you negate variance compared to doing quickdraft or joining paid events
With the next standard set im going to try to gain as many packs and cards as possible through free to play. Beyond just buying the mastery pass other packs and cards will be gained through gold, mid week magic and daily wins.
It definitely can! But I am getting the Mastery first. Drafting and Historic Events give roughly the same awards. For that reason, we will be shifting soon into historic events, but need a few more cards first!
That is actually not a bad idea at all... I got too caught up in that grind set, but that is actually a really good idea as well. Rewards are similar (except better packs), but I think I wanted the commons and uncommons from the draft as well with the account being so young.

Because constructed Events are the true endgame of magic. its much more meta and try hard than even rankiing to mythic. people only play to win, only use the absolute best decks and they know how to play. its top tier mtg. not everyone can do that. Its also a risk since there's a buy in.

That is a much lighter strategy on your wallet as well, lol. Almost exactly what my goal is for the F2P account going forward.

I love this comment! I agree with this except that you should draft for those 3400 gems. Then draft or packs depending on your aptitude that day.
I have such a hard time saving coins too and I also refuse to spend any money. The wildcard stash is not lookin good 🤢

Daily shop deals, and some challenges will get you gems for gold only. Some events too.
Yeah, drafting and such. Events are great because you can get gems, so you get to use the currency twice.
My F2P acc have 8k gems 😅 - from battle pass and quick drafts
