This procedure did not work for my 2017 ZX-10RR. But THIS DID: 1. Idle for 60 seconds. 2. Ride for 10 minutes *with 5 uninterrupted minutes at a speed of 25+ mph (a total of 10 minutes). 3. Shut off ignition. 4. Turn off kill switch. 5. Wait 5 minutes and repeat Step 1-5 two more times (for a total of 3 times). That worked for me and my warning lights reset.
If we can reset the chk eng light, and of course it works! Is it a good practice to do so? And, will this resetting stop the chk eng light showing up in future if there is another problem with the bike? Thanks in advance
This is a complete different thing but I dropped my 2016 10r going about 10mph and then when I picked it back up the bike didn’t start for some reason and then when it did everything was fine but now when it idles it bounces between 1-2k RMP. Do you possibly know why that is?
Fundamental Question for you(or anyone). I have a 2017 Kawasaki 650 that's about 9mi from hitting 6k mi total. My ✔ engine light just came on? Is this routine around 6k? Fluids etc are good so.....? Nice video and Nicer Bike 👍
Robert Taylor it’s never routine for your check engine light to come. Have it serviced ASAP. You don’t want something minor to turn into something major.
Hi Alfred, thank you for the video. My 2016 zx10r got the engine light on after a dead battery. I recharged the battery and the bike works fine now, but the engine light stays on. So just wondering do you know if this clearing can also work for reset the engine light? Again, thank you so much!
alfred gregory hey alfred i have the 2017 zx10 and i just got my ecu flashed. Woolich racing was used as flash. All sensors were erased including the exhaust flap. O2 sensor had to be unplugged from the air box as part of the flash. After the flash i started getting error codes on dash bunch of christmas lights flashing. I then performed this exact operation as you said to do multiple times and the reset never worked. I also called the guy that flashed tuned the ecu and he basically told me that the 5th gear reset is not compatible with woolich racing and also it works with ftec. Any suggestions?
PHILA FREEWAY Hello brother. I attempted it quite few times but it never worked. I rode it that same day just to see if it will go away by itself but it never went away. Its wintertime here in Michigan so the bike is stored in the garage with same issue. Im most likely going to take out the ecu and resend it back to the tuner to fix it. Honestly this reset has worked previously on my ZX10 but not with the flash thats in it now.
Hi Alfred, i have the same error problem like yours. Mine is 2016 Gen 5 Zx10r. I’ve tried 5 times like u have though us in this video but failed to erase the error. What i did was First step: Paddock the bike, switch on and start the bike. Second step: engaged the gear until fifth gear Third step: turn off the bike by turning off the key (not by the red switch) Fourth step: holds the throttle open 100% for 5 to 7 second. Fifth step: turn on the bike by switching on the key while still maintaining 100% throttle open for 10 second (not starting the bike engine) Sixth step: quick released the throttle.... Is there any steps that i miss? Because the error is still there. Really need your advice. Thanks.
Mohit Puri .the problem is due to the servo motor that control the butterfly valve of the exhaust system. Once u eliminate/remove/install aftermarket exhaust system, you also need to remove the servo motor that control the butterfly valve. After that plugin the servo buddy bypass device so that the ecu does not trigger the error warning.
Dinie Ahmad Tarmizi yes today I was trying to remove it and even removed it and the moment the started the bike this error came up !! Then I plugged the motor back to its place but the this error code didn't go away
I have a 2019 zx6r and I can’t get it to clear the codes or get the check engine light off . Can anyone help me out I keep trying it. Plus the power ktcr kqs FL light keeps blinking.
FYI guys the codes all cleared plus the ktcr lights and all that were flashing reset after I rode the bike for about 30 to 40 miles. After riding I simply waited 5 hours got back on to ride and it all cleared. Thanks.
Hello, if you listen closely on this video, when he first turns the key on you can hear a constant high pitched whine in the background before the bike is started. My zx10r 2016 does this, and is somewhat concerning to me. Any idea as to what it is??
that did not work for me, sorry. I had the throttle open for 5 seconds then while keep it fully open, I turned the ignition ON and held it open for 10 seconds, the program modes FML kept flashing and both FI and check engine lights remain ON. My exhaust valve servo motor is making these grinding noise even after the bike is turned off for several seconds, may be 15 seconds. Would that be an issue? My bike is 2018 zx10r.
It worked on my 2019 Nina 400. Thank you very much. Remember guys if the problem actually still exists the code and check engine light will come back.
mine KQS blinking...its do not work for me

I’m trying that now I’ll let you know how it goes
Bro I just did this it worked like a charm thanks bro very helpful
Work for 2017 z1000sx 👍
This absolutely works and works on the zx14 thank you for such a helpful video 🙏👌
Anthony Santiago awesome, glad it worked for u🤙🏾
alfred gregory you think you can help me out with my bike it won’t work ?
Jesus Santa u might have to get an OBD II code reader to clear ur codes
With these doing a factory reset would it erase a flash tune if you have one ?
If we can reset the chk eng light, and of course it works! Is it a good practice to do so? And, will this resetting stop the chk eng light showing up in future if there is another problem with the bike? Thanks in advance

@@alfredgregory9409 thanks man and I was afraid you would say that. Will do 👍
Robert Taylor it may be nothing, an easy fix.. but if u don’t get it taken care of it could lead to a bigger issue
@@alfredgregory9409 I know right... I've seen a $50 fix balloon to $425 👍.
I’ve tried it and tried it. It does not work on my 2016 krt zx10r
How do you pull up the engine codes?
If it’s a Gen5 you put it the screen on display odometer and hold both lap and start/stop switches in.
Not work on my 2017 z1000
Not working for me :( Gonna have to go down the OBD route...

Adnan the code has to be cleared on the scanner that’s the only way to clear it that’s what I did after my flash
