Izzy's title defense is the most boring among all champs in men's category. It's okay if we don't always get an electrifying performance from him but he has continuously been giving us a very boring fights for the last 4-5 fights.
Izzy is scared to take risk and thinks he’s the mayweather of mma, the way I see it is he’s gotten ko before and he can get ko again.

Izzy is a great fighter but he pales in comparison to Anderson. Not only did Silva not need all the gimmicky stuff, he had exactly TWO boring fights (Maia & Leites) during his title reign. Anderson Silva was an absolute killer and most of his fights are rewatchable again and again. Izzy is playing it safe, which is totally fine, but I hope he doesnt think that fighting this way is ever going to make people view him as the middle weight GOAT.
I don't think Izzy is in it the same way Anderson was. Anderson is a purest. His motivation is mainly to explore and push his combative gifts. Anderson didn't ever trash talk and was so humble. It has not been a while since he had an exciting fight. Did you not see Izzy v Vettori 2? That fight was full of action, head movement, takedowns attempts and reversals, clinch work and exchanges. Whittaker 2 was a good scrap. Izzy stopped Costa decisively. These were his last 3 fights, not even considering his LHW campaign where he challenged the champ.

Well, I mean there's a reason it works for him. Everyone knows that they can't just rush him blindly. If they do that, they'll get caught and probably hurt real bad. He's one of the best kickboxers in the world with insane reach and tall height.If you rush him you'll get countered and if you hesitate to engage him, he'll just keep his distance and land more strikes with his longer arms and legs. His wrestling defense is also solid. Very few people have what it takes to beat him, which is why its gonna be interesting seeing him face the guy who actually managed to knock him out cold already before.
That tactic actually would work in a street fight.. keeping distance and picking your shots carefully is quite important..
