As an fan of the sport, I didn’t look at it in favor of either fighter. Only the exchanges. I do think that while Izzy performed as expected, landing great shots and recovering from every take down, I’m not completely sure that it was a one sided as the commentary team would have liked us to believe. Robert also landed a fair share of great shots with numerous take downs.

It still counts as a knockdown and not as a slip. Same with takedowns, it doesn't matter if you are on one leg or flying, if he brings you down it counts. Izzy hit him and he went down, simple. Stop downplaying izzy's kd you haters.

You know Izzy admitted this himself after the fight (and it was plain to see on a replay), Whittaker didn't actually get dropped. He checked a kick that wasn't there then the left hit him, causing him to fall off balance since he was only on one leg. So if you were like me wondering why Izzy didn't pressure him when he still had 80 seconds left in the round, that's why. He said in the post fight presser that he was pretty sure Whittaker only slipped and wasn't hurt. So the wobbly leg thing is actually incorrect.
He never said he didn't knock him down, he said he didn't hop on him right away because he wanted to see if he was hurt or if he just fell. That replay shows a straight to the chin and he got dropped. Plus Whittaker said he got hit with that shot and it was one of Izzy's best shots of the fight. Also just because your on one leg doesn't mean you can't get knocked down, that's the stupidest logic ever

Rob was safely trowing only jabs and running around the ring. Izzy chased for 20 minutes and Rob didnt outstrike Izzy or had more takedowns than Izzy had takedowns defenses. Izzy had the better striking and grappling that how he won.

Let's hope Jared and Sean bring the heat to Izzy cause middleweight is looking real shallow. Not much competition for Izzy and Rob will have to wait a few years before another shot. Hopefully Peire and Khamzat move up quickly because Izzy is in a position where a super fight with Usman won't happen and he will probably lose at light heavyweight quickly even if he wins that belt. I don't see him beating certain guys in that division especially against anyone who can wrestle.

Let's hope Jared and Sean bring the heat to Izzy cause middleweight is looking real shallow. Not much competition for Izzy and Rob will have to wait a few years before another shot. Hopefully Peire and Khamzat move up quickly because Izzy is in a position where a super fight with Usman won't happen and he will probably lose at light heavyweight quickly even if he wins that belt. I don't see him beating certain guys in that division especially against anyone who can wrestle.
