      No, if Deontay Wilder fought Tyson Fury in an MMA ring then Deontay Wilder would've been 3-0 against Tyson Fury because unlike boxing, in MMA once your opponent gets KOed the referee immediately tries to stop the match because there is no 10 count system. Also, there is a huge difference in boxing skills between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury whereas between Alex and Izzy, there is not a huge difference in skills even though Izzy is slightly a better kickboxer than Alex.

    The thing I think got missed by many (I only confirmed it with a rewatch a few mins ago) was that Pereira also looked to have had Izzy hurt pretty bad as Rd.4 ended.
    He hit Izzy with that left on the cage, & Izzy kinda floated right and started to slump, and Pereira hit him again with a right and seemingly knocked sense back in to him as the bell rang.
    Props to Izzy, though, he seemed to shrug it off going back to his corner. Underrated chin.

      @@Colbmaker No it wasn't luck. Power is just such a significant equalizer. Peirera has won 2 losing fights against Adesanya with his power. Doesn't change the fact that their overall skills were put on display 3 times and Adesanya (in my opinion) is clearly the superior fighter overall. An example would be with Leon vs Usman 2. Nobody actually think Leon is better than Usman. But Leon won the fight fair and square with a well calculated shot. No luck. He needed a knockout just like Alex did. My point is that the better fighter doesn't always win. Also Adesanya definitely looked far superior for most of that fight. Round 3 could have been a 10-8 round. He almost finished him in round 1 whether you like it or not. Round 2 and 4 were close on stats, but Adesanya was more in control and confident. Look at any of Izzy's fights. He didn't dominate Vettori, Romero, Cannonier, or Whittaker according to stats. But he did enough to clearly win.

    Alex got shook in that kickboxing match too. But was saved by the counter. Here it was right at the end of the round. When I saw him recovered, at the beginning of 3rd. I thought Izzy is in real danger now. History is repeating itself.

    • @Cucumberdrx

      @@calvindevries Nearly every fighter "stopped" by the referee says the same thing. By saying he disagreed with the stoppage, that makes him neither narcissistic, nor a bad sport. In addition, his comments about the stoppage were immediately following the fight. I suspect, after getting some rest, watching the fight again, and some reflection, he'll feel differently about it.
      Incidentally, I, although not a big Mark Goddard fan, felt that it was a very justified stoppage. Izzy looked like he had no path to recovery and Goddard simply saved him from a potentially Savage KO.

    Same people that said, 'this will be a chess game' also said, 'it's not fair, Adesanya dominated the fight'. Bro, in chess, doesn't matter if you got a dominant position the whole game if somehow you got checkmated at the end

    • @lykastannis7662
      @lykastannis7662 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does matter for people who analyze fights. Like I've always watched UFC fights because I enjoy watching how specific fight styles mix. I always prefer decisions than early knockouts or submissions. When a fight ends early I'm just disappointed. It feels like the power goes out in the middle of a movie. Watching someone get knocked out isn't entertaining to me. Decision wins prove who was truly better and whose style is more dominant. Even though this fight ended with a finish, it happened in round 5. That gives people like me a lot of subject matter before the finish. Sometimes the fight is more important than the result. Like if Peirera loses his next fight by total domination, people who just saw the finish will be shocked. I won't be. Adesanya exposed all Alex's holes and gave contenders a lot to look at. Adesanya got his first career takedown on Alex and held him down. Imagine what Robert or Marvin would do to him. So yeah. If I'm beating you the whole chess game, and you suddenly have me in checkmate, the next guy will beat you with ease.
