The used pump with the conical top (Pierburg) is probably the best candidate for rebuilding. Interesting on the one you took off, I didn't know SEV/Marchal also put their name on pumps. The alternators on that era of Volvo were often SEV as well depending on the market, certainly, my first Volvo had one. The new pump which is a Professional Parts Sweden design I've had leakage troubles with so I'd recommend you keep an eye on it. Exterior leaks, no internal leaks thankfully. My next project on my current Volvo 142S is to replace the heater blower motor (ACK!!!)
Thank for the tip. The pump was only 29 euros so I quess it is not the best quality... 142S is a nice car. Is it totally original? It's quite rare here in Finland.
@@hanssgarage1886 BTW, my issues with this brand may simply be due to the high ethanol content on the gasoline sold here. It might not have the material grade necessary to resist the degradation that the ethanol causes.
A good video, yes, it is very frustrating when something falls and breaks. One of my cars also has a leaking fuel pump, and it seems to me that it is leaking into the crankcase. Or pumping too much fuel into the carb ... Of course a thumbs up, don't worry about it!
the webber carurators have to be tuned at least 1 time at the month to run properly beacuse it was design for racing (a race at time for max power) and not for every day use

Thanks. This is "motorsport" :)
Thanks! Did you place the arm on tops of the lobe or under?

This is now a good chance to learn carb tuning ;)
@@hanssgarage1886 i Will watch consider to put carbs on my 740
@@nikolaigjerde4854 I like these carbs. They look and sound so good.😉
isent it better to poure petrol in the carburators insted of breakclener
It might be but breakcleaner is so easy to use.
Does the fuel pump need to be primed, or will it draw fuel from the tank on its own? Thx.
I did't prime it. It started to work nicely without.
Only bad mecaiks people use startpilot, and destroy the engine
