I can’t stand praying in public. I don’t have those wonderful beautiful prayers like most people because during the day I’m talking to the Lord all the time as if he’s in the room. Jesus is my best friend! I spend all my time alone when I’m at home, except for with Jesus. people would think I was crazy if they came into my house and heard me talking like I do with the Lord. I don’t have these prayers like others. I hardly ever get on my knees (well I have a bad knee) but, I don’t like it when I go to prayer meeting and they call me to pray. I feel like I’m put on the spot. 😬
You can also forgive someone who has already passed. The forgiveness is for your benefit, to be free from the "poison" of bitterness, resentment and anger.
I remember a time when my sister (who had been raised in church) was trying to capture that glow she had as a child. She shared one Friday evening, "I feel like such a hypocrite! Think I'll stay home from church tomorrow. Knowing she had been out so long, all I could say was..."Fake it til you make it." For years, I found that when I really really didn't want to do something; if I just pushed myself a little harder, at the end of the day I was always amazed how thankful I was I did! Being real is ok but doing what I didn't want to do is really profitable to the soul. BTW, she did attend church with me for the next couple months but then her old life came knocking. A few years later, she did return. I believe she'll be in the first Resurrection.
Nice try David, keep practicing…. just kidding! It’s a great blessing that you two get to sit there and talk about the in-depth things of the Bible, and smile, and laugh and Share amongst yourselves, and us hearers. it gives joy to my heart…. thank you for the things you do for the Lord Jesus❣️😘😘
I think wicked people should receive justice in measure. My problem is the idea that people who can't grasp faith in Jesus will be tormented.if one is a good person, they should go to heaven.
@@Johnhasa1 read Romans 2:13 - 16. It says people who are not familiar with the law but keep it anyway, are just in Gods sight so you don’t have to carry the label Christian to be saved. Nonetheless everyone who will be saved is saved through Jesus.
The point about the length of the Lord's Prayer is funny. Some years ago when I was a teen, the eldership of my congregation had a short segment before divine service, where they had someone repeat the Lord's prayer while someone else timed it. Then they were like: so if Jesus says this is good enough, your intercessory prayers need not be 5 mins... I barely held in my laugh, cause truthfully some people were going to the point where you had to sit cause you had been standing or kneeling for so long, and then you eventually just zoned right out lol. And during that time i would be literally terrified that someone may randomly call on me to pray or even ask me to pray in divine service because I could never find all the extra words
I write some nice things that are specifically for another person, and give to someone to pass on to that person. The passer is aware and involved in the writing ... I don’t charge for it. I tell the passer it’s a gift from God, which it is. I never try to brag about it. I do it quietly for the most part. Not sure how that fits in to this sermon. If I do nothing, I feel I’m burying this talent. Not even sure what my point is ... I usually try to personalize a verse with the writing ... I can not do it completely without anyone knowing it ... many times, the recipient is never aware I was involved.
Amen! Been following this for while and it has been quite edifying!! Just a quick one about the dynamics of forgiveness and trust (hope to get some insights on this), I have read somewhere (I stand to be corrected) and I am paraphrasing; After the fall man will be closer to God than he would have without the fall..... something to that effect. So this got me wondering, it seems to me God will restore the trust in man even after the pain man has caused God. Anyways just amazing sessions God bless!!
Even when I agree with the main point that is being made (which, in this case, I do), I often have suggestions about the use of language to convey that point. Most dictionary definitions of “religion” include “theism”. (For biblical usage see Acts 26:5; Galatians 1:13, 14; James 1:26, 27 Acts 13:43; and James 1:26) Sometime around the 1980s, I started hearing people say, “Christianity isn’t a religion, it’s a relationship”. I agreed with what I thought they were trying to say, namely, that real Christianity is personal - not institutional. At the same time, I could see a disadvantage to saying that Christianithy isn’t a religion. So I began looking for a more inclusive definition of the word, “religion”. I’ve added one word to the definition I found some decades ago. Here’s my version of that definition: Religion is the sum of those beliefs, practices and prohibitions that pertain to a person’s concept of the highest powers of the universe. Now please consider this definition of “religiosity” from the Cambridge English Dictionary: the quality of being very or too religious, or reminding you of religious behavior, often in a way that is annoying. If we don’t “wear our religion on our sleeves” and don’t try to impose our religious beliefs, religious practices or religious prohibitions on others, there is nothing wrong with encouraging our neighbors to trust the Lord. I like this example of how NOT to do that: The story is told (I don’t have confirmation that it is a true story) of a barber who was so impressed by a sermon he decided he wouldn’t serve another customer until he had spoken to SOMEONE about the Lord. The next time he opened his barber shop, he still hadn’t “found an opportunity” to do that so he was still praying for such an opportunity. When the first customer came into the shop, the barber was still praying about how to “share his faith”. The customer asked for a shave and haircut but the barber still didn't know what to say so he took longer than usual to drape the customer, apply hot towels to his face, whip up the lather and apply it to the customer’s beard. He took longer still to whet the razor on the razor strap. As he leaned over the customer with the razor poised to begin shaving the man’s face, the barber said, “Are you ready to die?”
Please don't listen to Amiel! Sorry for the misspelling of his name. We are so hungry!!!! Please don't shorten it for the sake of the unhungry because you will be starving the hungry!!! Please we already have to wait a whole week for more! ❤❤❤❤
I feel sorry for the person whose long prayer was rudely interrupted with a hymn. This sounds like an illegitimate judgement. Something the Bible speaks against.
"Kindness is Kindest when its anonymous" said David in this video. it's a dope statement,I'll post it on my FB wall.😎
And the other one-liner: "The secret of religion is religion in secret." 💥
