(1:42) got to love how space engineers sticks the knife in your back here with the "Performance Issues" alert in the top right corner as your ship literally rips itself apart
I assume you mean firing the engines while still attached to the struts. I did the issue was I fired the wrong engines, I assumed because the control seat was facing vertically it would change the control orientation as well
@Halo56782 it does. There's an entire list of no-go issues that will turn you into a crater. 1. Are you running on internal power? Going cold as soon as you disconnect is bad. 2. All thrusters on? 3. All hydrogen tanks on and NOT set to fill? 4. Gyroscopes are on and not set to override. 5. If you have more than one control seat, ensure other seats are not set to main.
loved the dispense on the way up, i pretty much assumed what would happen after hrhr. Damn i still remember how a huge rover spun on one wheel for like a minute and we were all perplex just watching and then it spun into our base and were all like nooooooooooooooooo and afterwards we were hysterically laughing. This is sooo much part of the experience, i wouldn't wanna miss it.
Teachable moment: Briefly, while in first person in the cockpit, you can see the vector indicating crosshair (Seperated cross +) is facing the same as the artificial horizon (Faded, wide lines with slight 'cup' at either end). This alone shows that the ship still views itself as facing forward, rather than upward. For future reference, the display on the cockpit block should also match the HUD of enterprising engineers, in this case the cockpit block is displaying an ~85° bank meanwhile the HUD is showing level, for future endeavors these two indicators should be quickly cross referenced, and inconsistencies should be noted and trouble shooting should happen before maiden flights. This may easily be accomplished by "firing engines" (input move commands) while still docked/parked. You've learned a lot here, don't fret and never lose hope! See you starside!! o7
Yea seems like he accessed a remote control block which was oriented in the wrong direction. I always do a locked burn check before committing to any flight with multiple control surfaces.
Ah yes SE is my most played game ever. It is great 10-20 hours building a ship, just to realize 0.5 seconds after launch that you missed something and your creation has become a doom device destroying itself and your base simultaneously. For this reason, most SE veterans always disable autosave, and instinctively quick save before jumping into any vehicle.
damn... i remember my first ever flight to outer space. did a couple of small scale trials with atmospheric and hydrogen thrusters to see how much mass they can lift while still being comfortable to pilot. spent 10 more minutes just looking up how much power and hydrogen they consume. then just put together a ship on a landing gear with what appeared to be enough thrusters to lift it. and boom, went straight to space. i never thought people could be doing this in such complex ways that make it prone to error or failure... i gotta start space engineer again and put together a rocket style ship just to see...
That was heartbreaking and laugh inducing at the same time. Note, you were moving forward instead of upward, it would have worked!!! Keep at it, it looked great, loved the retractable elevator!
Ouch! Did the side thrusters clip the connectors on the way up? :) Or was it going sideways? @D_Rogers has a rocket launching platform that works, maybe steal some ideas. Or maybe just use one connector on a double piston for max clearance.
All that digging and searching for resources just to have it all blow up as soon as you think you have a good build. Such a headache this game is without blueprints and projectors.
It actually works just what I didn't realize at the time was that despite the fact I built it with a vertical cockpit, it was still acting like a horizontal ship, so W was not Up like I was expecting
@@Halo56782would you have to build it horizontally on the ground and then lever or crane it vertically up into place for it to know which direction is forwards/up?
Game: no drag or aerodynamics. Human, allow me to build the most drag efficient shape Single Stage and monodirectional thrust and try it. 😂 Just build a hopper for 1/64 the resources.
I probably could've but this was more fun to build. Also tbf to myself it was my first space capable vehicle and I learned a lot about the game. Especially how to blow stuff up
