Been learning to code with the goal of getting a job as a developer, but I've found a lot of the attitudes and personalities of the people in that whole scene to be very off-putting. Not only does IT more closely align with my interests, but I've found the people to be so much more down-to-earth and earnest. I'm going to dedicate myself to learning IT, so that I can finally leave my job as a fast food manager!
I feel you when you talked about being a bulldozer operator. I've been truck driving for a decade and am DYING to get out. Don't inflate your lifestyle with your money, because then you get stuck like me. Got security+ and A+, I'm great at problem solving in IT but can't afford the pay cut of entry level roles. 70hr work weeks don't leave much time or energy for school especially when you have a family.
I laughed when Odom lowkey acted like maybe nobody heard of him. I wanted to career change so I asked a guy in IT how to career change and he told me get Odom books and CCNA certification if I want to get into IT.
Does anyone have any experience in government IT work? I just got a 2210 position. I'm hoping to continue with them but moving laterally to a networking job eventually. What made them stand out? Current CCNA, working on CCNP and learning python/network automation (automation isnt my favorite but understand its apeal for employers)
