  • In this video I fix the Airbag Error light that was on on my dashboard. It turned on out of the blue and stayed on for about two weeks. In this video I take apart all of the connectors in the airbag circuit and put dielectric grease on the pins.

    Your video reminded me to do the basics first when diagnosing. I checked the under-hood fuse and it was blown. The light's been on since a battery replacement six months ago. Replaced the fuse and she's all good now. Thanks!

    I had the same problem in the same spot on a 2009 Chevy Avalanche. I first checked the fuses 40 and 45 then went to the connector located on the driver side front left panel. I just disconnected and reconnected several times to help clean the terminals and then started the truck. Yes, your solution worked really well. Thank you!

    Check your airbag impact sensors. There are two of them and they are mounted to a cross bar behind your front bumper cover. The easiest way to get to them is to remove the black plastic cover under the front of your vehicle. At first glance, it may resemble a skid plate and is held in place with four bolts. Once that's out of the way, you can reach up and feel the sensors. They are small black devices about an inch and a half square and about an inch thick with a set of wires from a small harness and plug. They are each held in place with a 10mm bolt. Feel them, you are looking for a bulge. If one or both show signs of a bulge, replace it or them. Rock Auto has them for about $25 each. The bulge is caused by water seeping in and freezing, damaging the sensor from the inside. Disconnect your battery when working on them, you don't want to accidentally set off your air bags.

      Hi looked up your video
      Regarding checking the airbags connectors for the airbags light and service airbag,
      I was hoping to be lucky enough to have the same problem fixed,
      But to my luck I’m still getting the message,
      The code that I’m getting is B0083-3A and B0084-3A
      And I researched the codes,
      It’s the Front Impact Sensors,
      In witch I replaced them Both, But kept giving me the same message,
      So like I said I ran into your Video on TH-cam hoping that it would solve the issue,
      But I’m not that lucky,, Lol,
      Any suggestions would be Appreciated!
      Thanks
      Danny

    The plug may be loose in the back seat just fixed mine yesterday and that was the problem. My light is off. Just a loose connection. I did everything he did and it didn’t work until I went to the back seat on both sides and they were both loose so try that and let me know if that helped with your situation.

    Do I need a special scanner to scan for airbag codes?

    • @darryls8066
      @darryls8066 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes only certain scanners will read the SRS codes and they are typically not the cheap ones. I just ordered a Innova 5160 it has all the features that i wanted SRS / ABS brake bleed / etec etc and including reading my hybrid battery cell voltages. About 250 bones though! Just tired of not being able to diagnose silly little problems like an airbag light and not being able to bleed the ABS system.

      Check with wires on the connector. These often get damaged and pulled from the plug itself. The plug and sensor are on the seat rail next to the console. It's usually easy to repair this with no parts needing replaced.

    I had a airbag recall on our Tahoe recently and we got the recall worked on. Now our service airbag light is on and won’t go off. The dealership said I need to replace the fuses. I found your video and followed step by step besides putting the grease on the yellow adaptor and my service airbag light still won’t go off 😭 any advice on what to do now ???

    • @jiml20
      @jiml20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could try the connector between the console and drivers seat near the floor. Mine was loose. Worked for many months now as soon as I pulled in the garage the light is on again. son of a biscuit. Will have to check fuses and try dielectric grease removing the yellow plug as the video explains. Hope it works. I hate these new vehicles and unnecessary computer junk and lights. the seat belts work fine. I wish I could disconnect the airbag and lights. The TMPS was driving me crazy had to buy a box to trick the computer to keep light off. Honestly all these lights and sensors are nothing more than hassles and money wasters.

      I had an airbag recall on my 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche and after they replaced the airbag, the service airbag light came on. Took it back to the dealer that worked on it and they told me the light was already on. They wouldn't even help me at all. Just lied and said I was sol.
      Did you figure out what yours was? I know it's been 2 years but hey, it's TH-cam.
