    LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU NEED ANYTHING ELSE.
    This video will show you how to replace the Glass on your broken Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. (It is the exact same process for both phones) Remember that this will only fix your phone if your phone still functions, which means you cans still see the screen, and it recognizes your touch. If the glass is the only thing broken on your phone it is a pretty easy swap.
    You can put any color glass on your phone, it doesn't have to be the same color that your broke.
    I took my phone apart first before I removed the glass, but you really don't need to. The glass is completely removable while the phone is all put together.

    I use isopropyl alcohol and an old t shirt to dissolve the glue after rolling off the bulk of it with my thumb. you have to let it set and dry a bit before installing the new glass though. otherwise a wet spot can visually form under the glass even though it is dry. Maybe dry it with the heat gun. I love the playing card method, it works the best for me. I use a heat gun and an inexpensive laser thermometer I bought on Ebay. 200 degrees F just like you said. You have the best how to smartphone repair videos on youtube. After watching them, I had success replacing glass after failing my first two or three attempts. since then, Ive fixed the glass on about 10 to 15 Samsung smartphones!

    Followed your instructions, took it SUPER SLOWLY and my phone screen is fixed! Hopefully it has extended the life of the phone while I hunt for a replacement. Phone shop said it was unrepairable and a write-off. Windex and a microfibre cloth worked like a charm to get the glue off, not that there was much - slow and steady with my Remington 1800 watt hairdryer did the trick. THANKYOU THANKYOU!

    Thank you for this video. Patience is the key here. I did this my first time, by following this video exactly( including using the razors to slowly work down the edges). I paid 5.99 for a screen and toolkit off eBay,watched you video, followed your instructions to the t and have now successfully completed what was a $150 job for $12 and a little lost sleep. The screen works flawless and the only mishap is I think my home button is possible placed upside down and even that's a plus as I didn't really care for the clicking sound of the button being pressed. Being experienced at using a heat gun to remove labels(adhesive) was a huge help. Thanks Jerry I have no choice but to subscribe.

    Thank you Jerry, With your expertise I was able to successfully remove the glass today. It's not easy but very possible. I used a paint stripper from 3 inches away from glass, and used a laser thermo meter to keep it under 90C, and 2 laminated paper playing cards. In total took me about 1hour.
    I think removing everything before you start gives you the best chance, as it's harder insert anything in to the glass with the bezel surrounding protruding high up.

    Thanks for your detailed instructions! Everything ALMOST went as planned.
    The entire screen works with the Note 3 stylus. However, the bottom 1/2" of the screen will not work with touch (the rest does fine).
    Any ideas of what we did wrong? Could it be a cable? I was under the impression that the digitizer would be all or nothing.

  • @SiC41
    @SiC41 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello Jerry, I was wondering because I saw that you did not use the LOCA/OCA Glue between your digitizer and glass screen, don't you encounter problems with tactile feedback and also air between the glass and digitizer? I used your method a while back for an S3 and when I put the back cover I had an air bubble in the middle of the screen :))
    I wanted to try again on note 4 and I did not make up my mind if I should aquire the gel and UV lamp :)

    Thanks for the video you've definitely helped me, this is the third time I have attempted to do a glass only replacement, first time I havn't knicked the lcd with the razer 😂
    As far as getting the glue off I am currently using a rag made from an old t shirt wrapped over my finger and just gently rubbing the glue away, I originally dipped the rag in a bit of methylated spirits but it seems to be working better dry to get the the bulk of the glue off, I'll try again with the metho to get the final smudges off (should work much the same as windex I would imagine)

    So I have the note 3. I see you don't use a liquid adhesive to attach the screen directly to the digitizer, you use just stop adhesive along the rim, how well did that work? Bubbles on the lcd when the actually glass screen makes contact, sensitivity, dust anything that could happen without the internal glue. Let me know thanks man!

    • @FernandoDIY
      @FernandoDIY 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, he should have used UV Glue LOCA Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive TP-2500 5ml LCD Tempered Glass Screen,if he doesn't he will get bubbles.

    • @abbyhales4813

      Or he could have used b-7000 liquid glue. It functions exactly like LOCA UV optical glue, but you dont need a UV light to cure it. Which is nice. It's not like a UV light is a common household object lol

    Hello there.. Thanks for the information. Just wanted to ask if there are issues when it comes to s pen sensitivity after just replacing the glass cover. I use the pen a lot for writing and just wanted to know whether it made a noticeable difference. Thanks. Appreciate the reply.

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you replace JUST the glass, the S-Pen should communicate just fine with the original digitizer. (The glass is only there as protection) Now... I have heard that if you use a non-OEM screen than the S-pen stops working. (Complete screen = LCD and digitizer and Glass)

    Nice vid Jerry. What I do for the LOCA is heat the glue then flip the pry tool over and run it down lightly. It takes it off in strips. Anything left is minimal and can be removed with adhesive remover or IPA. Some invisible glass cleaner to finish it off before putting the new screen on.

    I understand this is an old thread - hoping you can answer this if you're still around? I actually burnt a small part of the digitizer ( yellowed) when changing the glass. The screen works fine but as I said it is discolored - I can live with it - question is will this yellowing spread & will it eventually deteriorate to the point where the screen is rendered unusable OR will it continue to function the way it is ?

    Jerry,
    I had a note 2 with a cracked screen but everything was working fine. I removed the broken glass and I tried to power up phone before instaalling new glass and I don't see anything on display. Digitizer does not seem to have any physical damage as I was very gentle removing broken screen. Have I killed the display or what?
    I used hair dryer and I heated for 45 seconds at a time and it took me 1 hour to remove the glass. Do I need to put everything back together before I power up? I did not take phone apart, just removed the batter and back case to avoid any accidental short circuiting. You feed back is awaited. Thanks.

    Hi, great videos overall. I started few months ago my smartphone repair business in France .You seem to have a lot of experience so i would like to ask you few questions. Why don't you use the 99% alcohol isopropyl or a kind of loca glue remover "debonder AD-1 evobond" ? I remember one of my screens was full of a hard glue (can't remember the model) and the alcohol don't had much effect on it. I maybe heat too much the LCD or was about the type of glue. What is your method in this case? Thanks in advance

      +bluewild I have never tried any of the 'debonders' or 'glue remover' It doesn't take me too long to use the isopropyl alcohol, so I just keep using that.

    great video, thanks, did as instructed (no complications, removing was easy, but a bit tricky, as the top glass screen kept cracking all the time, more and more and it gave ma a paranoya, because, the glue came off in streaks, and i got spooked, that i broke the digitazer, and was relieved, when i removed it completely and found that it is all fine) but contracted a mild problem after applying the screen in the end.. . the screen feels pretty loose, and i broke the glass again, when i pressed on it in the area of the buttons, for it to stick better... as there is sort of a dent around the buttons... that glass is wayy too fragile, i had no idea how much exactly ... ordered the UV glue and a few new screens, just in case for the future... i think the glue is essential, sticky tape is kinda fleamarket type of way to do this it i think...
    in any case, You've been a great help and i learned a lot, i have no knowledge of electronics, but this was a really nice tutorial

    Thanks for these visual instructions. Is it recommended to remove the whole screen assembly before removing the glass? Deciding if I should give this a shot. Will the glass be a harder to remove since I only one crack running along the left side( my logic says less flexibility)

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your glass isnt completely shattered. i'd consider just leaving it cracked and not trying to fix it. The success rate with this repair is pretty low.

      JerryRigEverything Thanks. I still may give it a go since I have tinkering hands and ordered everything I need, even the glue mold for the Note3, and a temp gun so I don't get it too hot. The crack is still a huge eyesore.

    I'm going to try the e-string of a guitar for separation. Wonder how that'll work with a heat gun. Ever try that?

    I'm wondering if you have tried using a new playing card to pry the glass off? Seems like a good idea, but am not sure. Thanks for your awesome videos =).

    how come the glass digitizer doesn't have any flex cables on it, how does it communicates with the phone and how does it recognizes the touches with having any cables attached to the glass itself? thanks in advance.

    first of all, thank you for your great videos. i just wanna ask you if knocking by one finger hardly on Samsung note 3 screen may cause any kind of Digitizer or LED damage??? or does it affect the efficiency of the display generaly?? because i just got a new note 3 and my child was playing with it by knocking the screen hardly with his finger and the knocking was concentrated on one part of the screen. thank you!

      You should be just fine. The screens are tough. It will physically crack before anything happens to its sensitivity.

      MultiMrCookieMonster I have 2, and they honestly work the same. I just linked the one with the best reviews on amazon. You can pick whichever one you like, just make sure it has a 'high' and 'low' setting. I always use mine on 'low'

    hi and thanks for the video .
    Is this a different way to replace only the digitizer without using loca UV glue ?

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the double sided 2mm tape. The glue tends to run alot and drip inside the phone itself. (Im still perfecting my Loca Glue skills.)

      JerryRigEverything thanks for your answer . I will try it asap.
      So do you think 2mm adhesive is good enough or do i need to buy more sizes like 1mm and 3mm ?

      JerryRigEverything You could use either nail polish remover or WD-40 they both work good as well!
