A whole show revolving around the Q Continuium would be interesting.

@ProgGeek I do think Picard and Q had the best repertoire. I felt like Q held back with Janeway. I figured Q saw the most potential in Picard. And Data. Data was new territory and unlimited potential. Which is why I think Picard liked to keep Q as far away from Data as possible.

Wouldn't work. Q would just his fingers for any problem they came across

And The episode from DS9. Love it when Sisco punches Q and Q said Picard never hits me

I enjoyed all but one the Q episodes, that one being "Tapestry", where Q gives Captain Picard a "What if?" scenario if he didn't go the route he did and avoided the confrontation with the Nausiccans that led him to understand his sense of his mortaility.
I get the deep meaning of the episode, but I never really liked seeing Picard as an unremarkable person, living a life as a real nobody. That is what put me off of the episode.
As for my favourite Q episode, that's easily "Deja Q".
Him getting all sorts of problems that Humanity has to deal with on a daily basis, back pain, hunger, and more was pretty funny.
And the line "I'll have ten chocolate sundaes" just makes me laugh when thinking about it.

I detested the final message of the episode, that a person having a starfleet career in astrometrics was bereft of passion and imagination. Demeaning the idea of someone drifting through life with no plan or agenda, never seizing opportunity to take command. It basically shat on the working class, that life only has meaning if you go into management and get noticed by taking risks.
If they had instead shown him an "unremarkable life" where he had a partner and children, that he was happy and not burdened with PTSD from being assimilated and tortured, then contrasted it with his existing incredible wide reaching command. At the outset Q promised that nothing in history would change except him, that ruined the story telling. That without having the fight, thousands of people might have died as he was the only person to negotiate some peace treaty. Contrasting that with a "mundane" life where he bubbles with joy and love from all around.
His alternate life was far from a nobody, a scientist working aboard the flagship of the federation. So out of character, Picard was the only one who didn't look down on and ridicule Reginald Barclay.

@@beardedchimp I think the point was that it's about fulfilling one's potential. The vast majority of people don't have the potential to lead the Enterprise. Though for many the position of junior science officer would be a massive achievement. Naturally, we all different aptitudes and potential - Picard's was much greater than your average normie.

My theory is the Q were at one time the humanoid progenitors. Over time they evolved into the Q but forgotting where they truly came from

Thought the video was supposed to be about where did Q come from, but all you did was list and describe a bunch of Q episodes? At no point you theorized their origins whatsoever.

The Q come from nowhere and nowhen. They spontaneously emerge from infinite possibility, and at once both never were and always have been. Omnipotent Boltzmann brains.

    • @beardedchimp
      @beardedchimp 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

A Boltzmann brain statistically 10^10^50 years (or far higher in other hypothesis) makes the Q appearing in the early universe statistically impossible. But if one was to appear well into the heatdeath of the universe with the intelligence, understanding and ability to manipulate reality then I'd imagine they'd want to move house to sometime more interesting.
It recreates itself near the bigbang when lots of interesting stuff is happening, then fast forwards back and forth between the cool civilisation bits. Since they can interfere with the direction of ever increasing entropy, they can prevent any other Boltzmann brains forming during the heatdeath. Tada, you are now the only omnipotent entity in perpetuity.

Reject the Borg Life. Get rid of your brain chip and smart phone.
Unplug and be Human. It is worth it !
