  • The Kelvin Timeline is the the set of films from JJ Abrams that started in 2009. Although these films, at first glance may just seem like a simple reboot, there is a lot more to it than that, and they actually exist alongside the prime timeline. In todays video we break down how the timeline was created within the Star Trek Universe.
    Hope you enjoy!

    Thank you for calling it this, I called it the Kelvin timeline in the comments on another video awhile back and got multiple replies along the lines of "who calls it that?" and was begining to feel like I was crazy.

    Anytime a friend/co-worker who isn't into Star Trek asks about the Kelvin movies and I say its not a reboot, but an alternate timeline I always have to mentally prepare myself for the convoluted explanation I'm about to give. I honestly just give up like halfway through.

    In the Countdown comic released before the 2009 movie (which has by now been contradicted by canon), the Narada was enhanced with Borg technology, which explains why it's much more powerful than just a mining ship. Do the newer non-canon materials offer an explanation for this?

    • @FLAME4564
      @FLAME4564 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ofc Some often say the IRW Nerda in Prime Timeline was once an imperial Mining Ship that before its enhancements once started out as an imperial Romulan Mining Ship commanded by romulan commander Nero before the Talshiar found out some potential in Nero and his ship and eventualy utilized him and his ship offering him a place in the Talshiar which he all to willingly accepted.
      Thus he found his ship recived secret Tal Shiar Borg Techno Enhancements. This so called interdimensional dissapearence Nero's mining ship thru a singularity thru to the JJverse was eventualy covered up by the Talshiar of the Prime Trek universe in an attempt to be swept under the rug and upon entering the JJverse that borg enhanced ship destroyed the USS Kelvin after that ships attempt to defend itself thus the JJ -Verse timeline earned the name Kelvin timeline

    Could you imagine a TNG-era series set in the Kelvin Timeline?! The Enterprise may/may not be on the D yet (the battle at Narendra-3 would have gone much different), but it would BE SUPREMELY OP! A Borg encounter would mean almost-nothing.... Unless they were able to takeover the technology since it's similarly based. But, it would be so far advanced beyond the base Borg tech, that practically no one in the galaxy would be able to hold their own. Thankfully Starfleet are the good guys... 🤔 most of the time....

      @@federationoutpost That would be a video series I'd want to watch. It's be like your-own "Short Treks". And examining what could happen forward in the Kelvin Timeline would be super intriguing! I think most of the major wars would be a wash, but what could that even mean for life on TNG all the way to Lower Decks.

    The timeline thing was a bit confusing. I heard that CBS declared that the Kelvin Timeline was the Prime Timeline, and everything before was no longer canon. I guess they changed their minds after Star Trek Beyond kind of bombed. CBS and Paramount were also having IP rights issues the companies were split apart after Enterprise. I guess when they merged back together, they just got the green light to make original timeline Trek again. I do have some minor nitpicks about about some of the created changes. I'm not a fan of how they changed the buzzard collectors on the Enterprise D. They made it look like they had three, old-style collectors in the collectors, but I don't think that was ever intended. The Next Generation was a big budget show. They could have made it look like that if they wanted. I mean, they made it like like that with the shoestring budget of TOS. The other thing was the androids' eyes lighting up when it was looking up something. I personally just find it off and weird. Androids don't need little monitors in their eyes to access info.

    Hello Federation Outpost 1-11. Really great job on the explanation of the Kelvin timeline in the Star Trek franchise. You made the explanation easy to understand by state fact that I wasn't well aware of, maybe because I haven't seen some of the new Star Trek series, like Picard or skipped some details just in general.
    Anyways thank you for this really interesting video. It was really good and helped to clarify something that had been bugging me in the Star Trek franchise. Hope all goes well for you and can't wait to see more Star Trek related content from you soon. Peace out to you and 🖖, Federation Outpost 1-11.

    The timeline wasnt supposedly changed to the Kelvin timeline till AFTER Nero came through. So explain why Kirk wasnt born in Iowa? Explain why Kirks parents were on the doomed Kelvin? The prime timeline should have been in effect until Nero came through and changed the timeline.

    • @JustJessee
      @JustJessee 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So....had assumed the Kelvin was on its way back to Earth before it encountered the incident/Nero. Winona went into labor early due to the stress of what was happening or was unable to have her early labor slowed down due to having to evacuate the Kelvin. Had there not been a bigass black hole and Romulan megaship in their path, she would have made it back to Iowa before delivering James T.
      That's how I took it.

    • @MrPooh18
      @MrPooh18 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That makes sense with assuming of course. Also what was Kirks mom even doing on the ship? Did the Kelvin pick her up in route to earth because as far as I know families werent allowed until the galaxy class ships came out in Picard's era. One other thing that bugs me is when Nero lowers the drill to Vulcan. Seems it would be a simple thing to just blast the cable. Surely there were ships on vulcan that could have severed the drill cable.

    I choose to see Star Trek: Discovery and Strange New Worlds as being set in an alternate timeline, much like the Kelvin timeline. It's the only way to explain Discovery's ability to "flip" from one reality to another, and why Strange New Worlds' technology is more advanced than that of the original Enterprise NCC-1701. It also could explain why the Gorn are no longer Lizard Men, but more raptor-like beings that crawl on all fours and resemble Geiger's Alien. So many changes in these series can only be explained by being set in alternate timelines, while keeping the original stories intact.

      I cant imagine what kind of timeline Strange New Worlds is set in but compared to Star Trek Discovery or Disco as most fans call that I bet Discovery is set in the Discoverse timeline aka the Mycelial timeline which I personaly would name that after the Mycelial Spore network
