I could listen to Ryan Murphy's "Bette Davis" stories ALL day...really, I could. I wished the interviewer hadn't kept cutting him off!

Dang, I interviewed Bette Davis not long before Ryan did. Then, a few years back I interviewed Ryan. But I never knew he had been a journalist and that we had that one same experience -- wish we could go back and compare notes from 1989!

Ryan Murphy killed it with Feud. Thank you Mr. Murphy. I have one more episode to watch and I loved every moment. It also made me intersted in watching many of both Joan and Bette's films. I was more familair with Bette's films than Joan's. All in all Mr. Murhhy has a hit franchise on this series.

I had a friend who wrote several letters that were each a couple of pages long to Bette Davis. She replied back to him in a card that he framed.

Regina Phalange What? everyone of those ladies has a Oscar. Catherine zeta Jones won her Oscar in 2003 for the movie musical Chicago) Jessica lange won two oscar's, one in 1982 for best supporting actress in Tootsie) and the other Oscar she won for Best actress in 1995 for blue sky)
Susan Surrandon won her Oscar in 1996 for Dead man walking) ...so they all have Oscars...its literally a cast of extraordinary Oscar winners. the most established actress of all of them is Susan Surrandon who is considered one of the top great actresses along with Jessica Lange. I would love for Ryan Murphy to put Meryl Streep and viola Davis on one of his projects.

the guy is a huge visionary, it's impressive how he managed to pull off so many crazy ideas for shows, that can only come from a fan, and make them reality. true creativeness. he should really leave the AHS franchise though and move on. he is much better with reenactments like this and oj.

At 2:46, Ryan mentions Faye Dunaway, so all the nasty rumors about Faye are true!

Bette talks about it in a Tonight Show visit with Johnny Carson. The video is here on TH-cam...and she doesn't mince her words.

Could it be that Bette was simply pulling his leg about "petting" the Oscar?! It seems rather far fetched that she was being at all serious. She was offered by the Academy to have it reglazed, but declined because she said it showed the hard work underneath the gloss. Interestingly, Crawford DID have hers regladed when it faded. Just an interesting footnote to how different these two remarkable women were to each other.

Was that interview ever published? I can't find a trace of it, not even information confirming it was published in any paper. I love Feud and Ryan's tv work overally, but he's been known to have vivid imagination and say many things just to impress/surprise people, that turned out to be far from the truth.

Bette said that Faye was the most unprofessional actor she worked with. Always holding up the cast and crew, not on time etc. She did say that Joan was a professional,on time, knew her lines but they were of different personalitys. Miriam Hopkins was the only other actress of that time she did not like. Bette had slept with Miriams director husband on one of Bettes films. When this was said to have occurred Bette was going through a divorce and obviously Miriam wasn't keeping her hubby happy. Miriam also starred in an off Broadway version of Jezebel. Bette did the movie and won an oscar and she didn't like that. Anyway Bette Davis is Great!

If Ryan knew Bette so well, then why was FUED so inaccurate with details?

because as Ryan talked to bette 1 out of 5 people so we're talking Oliva De Haviland, Joan Crawford, Jack Warner and Bob Aldrich Ryan is mainly gonna write from a Bette Davis perspective isnt he. Whether he spoke to Olivia De Haviland before writing FEUD I dont know but Oliva wasn't impressed by the show either. I dont know about u but whether true or false I love old fashioned Hollywood biopical film's and TV shows

  • @BRAIRCO

I really didn’t like it at all. The impersonations ONE WORSE THAN THE OTHER !!!!!, Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon looked like they were in costumes and Catherine Zeta Jones looked like anything but Olivia de Havilland. The performances of the first 2 mediocre and very bad and artificial that of CZJ. Really to FORGET.
