Take note of the woman from Chuuk (12:50) and look at her features. Her face tells a lot about our history.
Back in World War 2, the Japanese used an island in Chuuk as their headquarters in the Pacific, and that is where many Chuukese names and surnames are derived from. We've also inherited certain features from them.
Where I'm from (Mortlockese Islands) people made fun of others with darker skin and big eyes, as it was desirable to have lighter skin and slanted eyes - a preference probably passed down from our colonized ancestors trying to survive in a world under Imperial Japan. Many people from my mother's island stretching inwards to the mainland also have silky, straight hair possibly inherited from our colonizers whereas in other parts of Chuuk/the other outer islands they would have curlier or more 'islander' hair.
