Obi-Wan had it worse out of all the star wars characters. He watched his beloved master die, he watch his apprentice who he raised like a son, descend into darkness, having to make the toughest decision of his life whether to spare him, and then to live years in solitude, to be later killed by his former apprentice. And this is why I love Obi-wan. Because he kept going through all the crap. That is why he is my hero
He wasn't killed by Vader, he just disappeared just in the second before being hit by the lightsaber. He joined the Force, just as Yoda, Luke and Leia.
Obi Wan was one of the best jedi ever. He influenced many people in good ways during his life and maybe if he stayed with Anakin he could have prevented all this. Forever loved character, may you rest in peace Master Kenobi.
He is my favorite because despite he had every reason to turn to the dark side he never did. His heart is made of gold. His greatness is precisely be good and keep helping peopme despite his heart was destroyed many times.
To me, Obi-Wan and Anakin both had the most tragic lives as Jedi. Both of them lost people that meant the most to them, but were bound by honor to stick to a Jedi Order that knew no love or emotion. Anakin was forced to live up to a prophecy that would have him do both good and bad things for the sake of balance to the Force. Obi-Wan was forced to fight his own apprentice and let go of the people he cared the most about. Anakin and Obi-Wan are the real Messiahs of Star Wars here...
This was beautifully done and the best Obi-Wan video I have ever seen. I love how much they made Ewan look like Alec and how Alec would make these facial expressions like he was actually remembering the past. This video shows what he was probably thinking and the struggles he went through.
D-Ah! 😲 I was musing over this comment and then I remembered you from all those Oz videos. 😂 Not sure I agree. I think it was a look of triumph. He couldn't really forgive Vader until he repented in RotJ.
i m not sure that obi wan ever forgave Anakins alter ego Vader i think the smile was because he realised that padme and force ghost Qui gon were right that anakin wasnt completely gone but was surpressed by vader
they weren' t just best friends though they were more like Brothers thats why Obi wan so devastated when Anakin sided with palpatine as that was a path that Obi wan could not and would not follow Anakin down.
almost crying....love SW since 1987 when saw the first trilogy in tv.everything it's ok with Han,Luke,Leia,Vader,Chewie, the Emperor, but Stars Wars IS about Obi-Wan and his troubled life, being in charge of this 'young promise' aka The Chosen One.Thank you for this vid
He did not hate SW itself, rather, he hated the recognition he got for it. He had absolutely no fans praise him for any of his other works, like Bridge Over the River Kwai, or Lawrence of Arabia, etc. All people seemed to care about was Star Wars. He just got frustrated being typecasted as Obi-Wan.
Man, I've been watching and re-watching this video of your since 2012. I have only one thing to say: you're brilliant. It's close to perfect. Few videos shake my feelings like this one.
In total agreement! I revisit it every so often and it always makes me cry. May I make a shameless plug for a video of mine and ask you to see what you think of it? th-cam.com/video/Hxwn8YQ3wcc/w-d-xo.html
Most of what I'm seeing in the comments is how some people are saying that it's someone's fault that Anakin was inducted into the Jedi Order and that he shouldn't have ever been in there to begin with because of his actions and his past. To those people: do you even wonder what would have happened if Anakin NEVER started out as a Jedi or never became one to begin with? Do you ever think that maybe Anakin's whole Chosen One Prophecy had transpired exactly to how the Force had wanted it to happen? Sure, Anakin showed alot of traits that would label him as a Sith. But even so, he was still as much a Jedi and a Human as the next Jedi or Sith. He also wasn't the most orthodox Jedi of his time. In fact, if you were to look at the Master-Apprentice lineage starting from Count Dooku to Qui-Gon Jinn to Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker and finally to Ahsoka Tano, you're pretty much looking at a long line of Jedi who are almost entirely unorthodox and they have struggled to stay on the path of the Jedi. Some more than others, if you get my meaning. If anything, this shows that they were more human than they were Jedi. Also, let's not forget that all that Anakin had done when he became Vader, he thought he was killing the Jedi for Padme's sake. Sure his morals got twisted and such. But isn't such a thing often the danger of being a Jedi or Sith? Forsaking and denying the part of you that is a living and feeling person for the sake of a religious and mystical branch of the Force? If anything, the Great Jedi Purge was a miracle compared to what the Jedi would have done to themselves had their Order continued on as it had done (the Clone Wars PROVES this, just look at Barriss Offee and Pong Krell). Also, the whole Chosen One Prophecy was open to interpretation. None of the Jedi knew what "balance" truly meant, not even Yoda. If anything and Judging from what happened in both Episodes 3 and 6, I believe that "balance" meant that Anakin had to destroy both the Jedi AND the Sith, leaving the Force to be able to make both the Jedi and the Sith better than what they once were. And let's face it, the Old Jedi Order was far from perfect. The same can be said for the Sith.
99thJediWarrior Anakin's age and potential faults were definitely part of the reason some councilors were reluctant to accept him. I personally agree that one of the biggest problems the Jedi Order was facing in the last days of the Old Republic was loss of individualism. It wasn't just that they were becoming estranged from the people they were sworn to protect but they were also becoming more and more subservient to the Senate. Basically, the distinction between government and creed was beginning to blur.
If you ask me, both Anakin and Obi-Wan were the biggest victims of the Rise of The Empire. At least Obi-Wan died peacefully, whereas Anakin had to live on as Vader... for a time.
I've seen this video before, but not sure if I've commented. I really enjoy it! You tie Obi Wan and the heart of the whole story together very well. Adding Luke in was just the right touch toward the end. Very touching.
this was beautiful... leaves ou speechless. i was crying and didn't even know why. awesome perspective you give to obi-wan and all that happens to him through the saga.
This was a great edit, the part where the flash of the lightsabers flashed into flashbacks was just genius! Do a video with Clone Wars and The Clone Wars footage in it!
The video is perfectly executed. The flashbacks are perfect and really add mood to it. The transition from PT to OT was beautifully done. Music fits so well with the video and sequences. Hope to see more of these!
This video is what brought me back to the real story of "Star Wars", and introuced me to Breaking Benjamin (now my favorite band). I won't deny you changed something in me, my friend. And the ending is perfect. So emotional. Thank you.
Obviously you have a great understanding of the heart of the saga and the brilliance of the plot. Your stuff is amazing...ever consider a Qui-Gon/Obi/Wan vid? (If you haven't made one already.)
A very good very. I also love Obi-Wan Kenobi. I like the seconds when the fights between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader switch between the movies III and IV. But the music is also good. You show the feelings in the video that every Obi-Wan fan has when he think about Obi-Wan's life and death. I love it.
Yay!! That was an amazing vid! Obi-Wan will forever blame himself for Qui-Gon's death and Anakin's betrayal. It's sooo sad! I loved it! If you read fanfiction and you're into timetravel I recommend reading "Shadows of the Future" by Stormqueen. It's amazing! In fact there's a trailer for it on this site.
Oh GOD... this is a powerful vid. Especially when it switches from the prequels to the originals, and how Obi-Wan would likely be thinking of Mustafar all rhose years before... VERY strong stuff, man.
Beatiful tribute to Obi-Wan. absolutely fantastic job on editing. Obi Wan is most important person on SW saga, he failed on Anakin but gave all he,s knowledge to Anakins son Luke who become First Jedi on new rebublic.
OMFG.....this video moved me to tears and gave me goosebumps!!! I came here because I love Breaking Benjamin, but the whole video was really well put together. I'm gonna check out this person's other videos, and if they can move me the same way this one did consider me subscribed!
The part where Obi-Wan gave Luke to Beru at the end just brought tears to my eyes. I mean, think how he must feel... Giving away the only part of Anakin Skywalker that he had left.
