The whole scene felt kinda out of place for Megumi's character to me. It looks like he was always repressing some psychotic tendencies and finally snapped, but throughout the anime he was more of a chill, brooding guy to me. Yo Megumi's dub actually had me shook. Honestly, dub voice actors don't typically portray the emotion and energy of a character as well as a sub. The way Megumi sounded like he was going crazy and started laughing gave me chills though. So dope

Yeah I usually watch anime in dub. But sometimes the dub fails. I watched the eso fight with Nobara and Yuji in sub and it was better than the dub. Nobara's English VA didn't have the tremor in her voice and it wasn't hype enough. The only fault I had with jjk dubs
It's the fact that TV as a whole uses super exaggerated voices and tones for characters, every country does, but Sub watchers aren't used to it because they can't understand japanese, and don't know the tones that japanese people actually use when speaking, so they don't view subbed anime as being exaggerated even when it is. Japanese people actually have this same controversy over anime dub and sub but reversed, because they also recognize how exaggerated their languages dub sounds, but they can't understand the English Dub so it sounds better.
It’s a shame that some not all but some main sub watchers just can’t get along with main dub watchers, it’s not the VA’s fault they’re literally always putting out their best when doing the voices for these characters and you have to appreciate that, espionage jjk they did a fantastic job it’s like they were meant to play these characters when it comes to the English dub representation just as much as the original Japanese Representation. I don't mind good dubbing at all. FMA and samurai champloo being my examples of fantastic dubs. It when the dub doesn't capture the emotion or just sounds too goofy that it turns me away from it. Mineta from mha being my example of that. He's already cringy. Why give him a lisp as well.

I love that it's heavily implied in Jujutsu that the only reason certain individuals aren't as strong as they should be, is because they don't think they're strong. We can see this here with Megumi, thinking he can never be as strong as Gojo and like Gojo said, Megumi we'll go for the safe play like he did in that baseball game. And we can also see this with Jogo, sure we know he's strong, and at first he knows this, but after his first encounter with Gojo, he's shooked. To the point he won't even dare to open his domain vs Sukuna in his first encounter with him. 80% of Jujutsu is about about being born with powerful techniques, but it's also a mindset too. It's another reason why Gojo and Sukuna is soo overwhelming.
0:16 This right here was my favorite part of season one when listening to the dub. Not only was it refreshing to see him grow in his strength, but it was also nice to see him just learn to crack a smile and have fun.
Living in Japan showing my friends DBZ dubbed “Why does Goku have such a strong voice?!?! He’s a good guy, not a villain!” I usually prefer Subbed. Nothing against non-Japanese voice actors. But when voice actors get to actually work with the creators, their interpretation of the character is directly influenced by the creator. Where as for any dubbed, they usually have to give their interpretation of an interpretation. Not to mention, how difficult it is to effectively translate, and how different cultures & languages have different ideals & ideas on certain words. Cowboy Bebop is one of if not the best dub. It’s incredible. Probably due to the show being a cartoon form of a music album. ( Plus no manga so there were less steps & less expectations from the original product)
I think one of my problems with dub shows is them changing the words when they literally have the sub and the Manga to fall back on. It's like what M. Shyamalan did to the last air bender. Literally had to just copy and paste but decided he wanted to change things lol.
@@wnwb2319 It's not that they want to change things, it's that when American producers are sent the episode they're meant to dub, they're sent the full episode as one file, everything is together, with no way to separate the music, sound effects, or anything, which means direct translations won't match the lip flaps, which they can't change, because that would mess up the music or sound effects, they have to change the wording to match the lip flaps. But we do get some good out of it, like Gojo saying "I'm actually shocked you thought you could beat me with this loser shit"
I personally prefer the dub. I also find it funny that people say that the dub Megumi sounds insane... the dub voice actor for Megumi is also Akechi from Persona 5... yeah, if you've played Persona 5, this makes so much sense
