Sub: Sounds youthful. Like a 20-something year old cruel Yakuza boss. Sounds like he toys with his victims and tortures people. Evil, but still sounds human at the end of the day. Dub: Sounds like a matured supernatural being. No longer sounds human but more-so demonic. As others have mentioned, his voice is very regal. A lot of reverberation and bass. Uses more breath as he talks. Also holds the last note of certain words for a strong regal effect. Ex: “Malevolent Shrinnne” or “Opennn”. Dub takes the cake imo. Sukuna sounds deeper in the dub, and I don't get all the talk about how "the tone is so demonic and more regal." Honestly, he sounds more like a motor engine. But let's entertain that idea for a moment: the dub certainly gives Sukuna's voice a bass-heavy quality that exudes an aura of dominance, arguably surpassing the sub in this regard. However, this approach undermines Sukuna's cocky nature. In the sub, Sukuna is an ego-driven maniac, and his playful, lighter tone really brings that out way better than the dub. He sounds hungry to toy with your mind, crush your confidence, and bury you. His voice in the sub is far more taunting and jovial, which goes perfectly with his psychological warfare against characters like Jogo and Yuji. This jolly, yet mocking, tone is one of the most critical points in his character, as it highlights how he enjoys bringing others down while still keeping his terrorizing aura.
Why does dub sukunas laugh always the one that creeps me out subs laugh might sound like he’s gone insane but dub just adds a little more insanity to the laugh
I watched dub first and I think Ray Chase goes so hard on all of these, but I'm obsessed with how Suwabe adds this very slimy feel. Sleazy and overconfident, almost slurring his words with how little concern he has for anything. Having to deal with the restraints of lip flaps holds the dub back in that regard. I think the "Still not yet" at 3:26 is probably the closest it gets, and if Ray Chase can pull that out more often it'd be perfect.
2:22 "I'll play with you again and again until I tire of this." I like this scene a lot too, another one that gets really close to JP's playfulness. I like the scripting on this line as well, it adds a lot of flavor and sells the feeling that he's just playing with his food. Contrast that to the original's "Before I get tired, I will keep playing with you" which sounds too matter-of-fact compared to just how much FUN Sukuna sounds like he's having.
When Sukuna with English dub says: "Stand proud. You are strong." That part makes me CRY every single time. I've go through a lot in life (abusive home in many ways, bullied by kids and teacher etc.), never standing proud or even keeping myself strong, but now something is definitely changing in me since his words make me cry. Those words touch me so deeply. It's like... getting support from this one dear person who BELIEVES IN YOU while everyone else have given me their blind eye and back. Thank you, Sukuna ( & Ray Chase). Your words are beyond important
The way he says "Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine" in dub is just so much better than in sub, the way he holds the n at the end of Expansion and Shrine making it sound like this: "Domain Expansionnnn: Malevolent Shrinnnnne" is just perfection
@@r5unna You can't even properly pronounce it, so kind of embarrassing for you to proclaim that, but Domain Expansion really rolls better off the tongue and sounds much better, especially when you elongate the n like Sukuna, the sub simply can't compete at that point anymore

“I already have my own plans”
Idk how strong your plan is if it involves getting corner to cornered by 8 black flashes from your nephew.
Both are fantastic but “fuga” sounds so much better than “open”
idk i like that little growl at the end of the "n" that he does
4:15 *”arm yourself”*
Trailer voice be like:
Bro has a time to play red light green light during the fight
I watched dub first and I think Ray Chase goes so hard on all of these, but I'm obsessed with how Suwabe adds this very slimy feel. Sleazy and overconfident, almost slurring his words with how little concern he has for anything. Having to deal with the restraints of lip flaps holds the dub back in that regard. I think the "Still not yet" at 3:26 is probably the closest it gets, and if Ray Chase can pull that out more often it'd be perfect.
2:22 "I'll play with you again and again until I tire of this."
I like this scene a lot too, another one that gets really close to JP's playfulness. I like the scripting on this line as well, it adds a lot of flavor and sells the feeling that he's just playing with his food. Contrast that to the original's "Before I get tired, I will keep playing with you" which sounds too matter-of-fact compared to just how much FUN Sukuna sounds like he's having.
YOU CAN SEE MY CURSED TECHNIQUE 🗣
dude the laughs at 1:38 is so 😍😍😍
This mf likes a character that gets turned into pou 🙏😭
This MF would literally kill you with no second thought

英語版声はめちゃんこいいけど、クッソ必死に喋ってて余裕なさそうな宿儺に見える。日本語と英語の違いだな。日本語版は言葉の行間にゆとりを持って喋れるからめっちゃ余裕ある宿儺に見える
Dub is restricted by lipsyncing. kinda sucks
I’m sorry, that English Sukuna voice is prime! 😍perfect for the anime. Brings hella personality to every scene.
I'm not the only one who thinks Ray Chase here sometimes sound like Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs)?
When Sukuna with English dub says: "Stand proud. You are strong." That part makes me CRY every single time. I've go through a lot in life (abusive home in many ways, bullied by kids and teacher etc.), never standing proud or even keeping myself strong, but now something is definitely changing in me since his words make me cry. Those words touch me so deeply. It's like... getting support from this one dear person who BELIEVES IN YOU while everyone else have given me their blind eye and back. Thank you, Sukuna ( & Ray Chase). Your words are beyond important
there is NO way they actually used "you was" unironically
it was you were, though the capcut captions this channel uses isn't that good 🤷♂️
They didnt. subtitles misinterpret as 'you was' when it was "you were".
You missed "I wouldnt know the answer to that."
I got to give it to the dub partly because I find the small changes to the dialogue to be a lot better. Even just the syntax feels more natural
... yeah because you're not reading it lol?
2:56 my dumbass would move while saying "technically you said now"
Wow that was a legit knee slapper
The way he says "Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine" in dub is just so much better than in sub, the way he holds the n at the end of Expansion and Shrine making it sound like this: "Domain Expansionnnn: Malevolent Shrinnnnne" is just perfection
ryoiki tenkai will always sound better than domain expansion😂
@@r5unna You can't even properly pronounce it, so kind of embarrassing for you to proclaim that, but Domain Expansion really rolls better off the tongue and sounds much better, especially when you elongate the n like Sukuna, the sub simply can't compete at that point anymore
Sukuna sub and dub are amazing VA
