- Police dogs at the 30th annual K9 trials in Las Vegas. This is the 30th Annual LVMPD K-9 Trials on March 20, 2022, at South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Competitions for Narcotics, Bombs, Area Search, Building Search, Obedience, Agility, and Handler Protection. Some dogs competing in seven different categories are German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Malinois’, Labradors, and English Springer Spaniels.
Watch these police dog handlers and their dogs compete for top dog honors.

It’s nice to know that even the most highly trained dogs make mistakes, I feel less alone and less guilty for having high expectations for my dog. Honestly these people put so much effort and time into training their companions, kudos to all of you and your amazing hard work! Keep it up!

Highly trained? You must be either blind or have no clue about dog training. Those K9´s wouldn´t even pass an examination over here in Europe to walk on the streets on leash only.
A dog and his training are a reflection of the handler. If a dog is performing at say, 85%, it's because that's what the handler is putting into the dog. If the handler makes a mistake I give the dog 5 mistakes because of the difference in intelligence. Repetition and consistency are key.
@peterk8909 Mostly true. However, I train with two trainers regularly. One works with his dog for at least 2 hours every single day. I’ve watched that dog do a particular exercise dozens of times. Never failing once…until he did it in competition.
If you want to see highly trained, look up 'Schutzhund'. Most of these dogs and handlers are a department liability nightmare waiting to happen. The video will make great evidentiary material.

This was really cool to watch. After seeing so many dogs not complying with stand down I’d be even more scared of police dogs if I was a criminal . Nice footage Lion
well you wouldn’t want to be a criminal, OR A PERSON OF INTEREST.
Rather embarrassing to watch than cool. K9´s not obeying commands, K9´s not able to jump about a simples hurdle, K9 attacks figurant instead to return to the handler, etc...
This shows the handler where they are lacking in their trading. Now they realize where they need to train better.
@@rolandhicks1874 trust me they already know it’s an issue. Part is adrenaline on the dog’s part. And part is not enforcing it enough when they first start training. I have a friend who is a K9 handler

My mom was a babysitter when I was just about 7 or 8. One of the moms couldn't pay my mom, but she had a German Shepard that had puppies. She gave my mother a purebred German Shepard pup (maybe about 4 to 6 months old) in lieu of payment for babysitting. We had a fenced in below ground swimming pool in Pennsylvania. Eric, the G.S. eventually was put behind the fence after he grew so big (dad built out a nice big dog house for him) and because people would climb the fence to go swimming (trespassers). During the winter, my father had a big pool tarp on the top of the pool, which made the pool only about a few inches above the the ground. Eric would run and jump, slide across the top of the pool (frozen due to PA winters). Mom got worried, and because my Uncle Bob was a police officer, she contacted the local police and asked if they wanted to train Eric. He was accepted and eventually, Eric was in the newspaper for taking down a bad guy. We were so proud of him! He had come a long way.

wow these dogs are no joke! Great teamwork between the dogs and handlers. The dogs are so funny when they want to attack but they are told not to. It's so hard for them to hold back their adrenaline. And that poor guy sitting there waiting for the bite! I'm sure he's used to it but I bet the first few times it must have been so frightening! I feel terrible for the K-9's injured on duty. They are so loyal and brave 💕💕✨✨💕💕

They are all amazing dogs, (officers), blessings to all of them and their partners. I wouldn't want to be one of the guys in the attack suits, a dog never forgets! It must feel like a truck hit them too. Knowing there are K9's out there gives me peace knowing that they and their fellow police officers are on the job. Our town just got their third K9!
Amazing! We donated a young male GSD to the local police department in the 70’s & he became a bomb-sniffing dog. Loved his work & did a great job until his death.
I don't care if these dog didn't return to their handlers, they are INCREDIBLE!!!
You would care if they didn't return if the dogs were mistakenly attacking you!!!!! You are right when you say tht they are incredible.
I saw a video that was made of a bunch of clips and one of the clips was a clip of a police or military Belgian Malinois in the Netherlands or Belgium being trained. In was at at a beach right where the water ends and the beach begins and the dog was being held outside of a helicopter by the handle on the back of the dog's suit. The helicopter was moving down the beach but staying near the water and came down very low but did not land. Once the helicopter was low enough that the back feet of the Belgian Malinois started to touch the sand, the dog started to kind of hop along the beach at the same speed as the helicopter until his handle let go of the dog.
That dog hit the ground running at a ridiculous speed down the beach passing a bunch of people all over the place. He also ran straight past a huge boat that was anchored right up to the beach but the dog never bothered to even look or pay attention to anything around him. He was running at full speed with his eyes locked on the "bad" person who was a ways down the beach.
When the dog finally caught up to him, the dog jumped up on his and grabbed him (I think by the arm) and pulled that bad guy straight down to the ground and somehow was holding the man down until the helicopter and some other police or military people got there and got the dog to release and the if it had been real then they would have handcuffed him and took him away. In the meantime, while the Belgium Malanois was attacking and holding down the bad man, the noise and wind of the helicopter reappearing close to them, the dog never lost focus. It was the most impressive police dog maneuver I have ever seen.
I remember that it was on the youtube channel "A Daily Dose of Internet". But because he puts out a video everyday for years now of different short clips put together that I don't think I would ever be able to find the video again. Plus that particular clip was not showed on the videos icon and nor was it mentioned in the title so it could take forever to find it. I'll try to find it later today but I doubt I'll be able to find it.
It was just so super amazing how not only strong and smart that these dogs are but I couldn't believe that they could train a dog to be let go close to the ground by a moving helicopter and still not lose focus as to who he was going to chase down and grab. Dogs are amazing.

❤ I have been fortunate to own both GSD & A Malinois, both rescue dogs. Both were high maintenance but loving and loyal and I never felt unsafe when they were around. Honestly, they would guard me with their lives if need be. They are no longer alive but 9if I could do it all again I would! ❤

I think the most common K-9’s are German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. I have heard where some departments are beginning the use of the American Pitbull. My son has raised two of them and they respond to his voice instantaneously. They respond not out of fear, but their desire to please him. One of them responds to sign language. This breed would make a good K-9

So cool, I have Dobermans, Male is 90lbs. He’s working pretty good, but he’s not ready for competition. I love seeing the dogs respond so well.
I had a female belgian shepperd... She never obeyed in any order but she was so so protective ! At night no one could come into the garden ! Her name was Diana and she died on April 1982... I was 17 and i'm still missing her.... She died because of the leishmaniosis. I do live in south of France and all around the mediterranean area we suffer because of the leishmaniosis....

We think the most common breed is German Shepherd dogs. Our family had 3 of them as pets and one was the pup of a police dog 🐶
That's great, GSDs are wonderful, loyal protective doggies.
Malis are the majority in this competition, right? I'm no expert and love all of the breeds here, but the majority here I believe were Malis. Possibly some Belgians and Shepards mixed with them. Either way, OUTSTANDING dogs.

Whoa, I've never seen anything like this before 😲 This was really interesting to watch, superrr impressive how trained these dogs are, the fast reaction, the agility, the obedience. I mean, you can't even get a human kid to behave so obediently, esp. being told to stop so abruptly. I kept going "WOW" and "DANGGG" throughout the video. I also laughed a couple times when the dogs just refuse to listen, like how you pointed out, a lot of the dogs wouldn't let go of the handler unless assisted by the owner/trainer. In my head I was just thinking about what the K-9s might have been thinking, like "You don't understanddd master, I reallyyy want a piece of this man's arm 😣😩" (Props to the guys willing to be the ones being attacked by the dogs, that's a scaryyy job man) Lol, I also laughed when one or two of the dogs (when without the leash), just ran around the field in circles, not knowing what they're supposed to do, as opposed to completing the obstacles, it was cute 😆
