1:24:22 Cahara wasn't allowed to live by the way. The line "The weight of that acknowledgement crushes him instantly" is a really powerful creative interpretation of the following cutscene in which the God of Funger tells you that it's all over and to embrace the darkness as mercy. He's very much killed by her, and a peaceful end is basically the only kindness a being like her can give him at this point. Any character can take the girl to the pit and awaken the God but the sequel having hints of all the other characters achieving the endings listed here, absolutely zero mentions of Cahara, and the God of Fear and Hunger ascending anyway implies that out of the four characters, he was the one to do that and die for it.
Canonically, when Ragnvaldr entered the dungeon he went soooo hard inside the only ones who felt fear and hunger were the monsters inside the dungeon. Except for moonless who got adopted by him. Literal Gigachad.
Loredivers like Nux, and in a different VaatiVidya, they are akin to olden scholars driven by a thirst for knowledge and understanding. the game doesnt have "paths" in the way you seem to think, each character has 1 exclusive ending they can only get in hard mode, and a shared pool of other endings that anyone can get. you can go through the game via whichever route you pick, and recruit the other characters. shes telling the story as the 1 timeline that makes the most sense to allow the events of the second game to happen
Not quite imo, because someone has to bring the girl down to the heart of darkness. We know it wasn't D'arce because in one Kaiser combat sprite, if you use a spell on him, we can see the fleshy figure we saw in D'arce's S ending, so it wasn't her. We see Moonless (and a theorized descendant) in the second game so we know that Ragnvaldr went around killing everyone, take the dog, and left, which is pretty much his S ending. So it wasn't him. Enki, in the second game we also see books written by him, the skin bibles, containing knowledge he'd only have if he achieved enlightenment and declined godhood, meaning he got his S ending too. So it wasn't him. Meaning Cahara had to be the one to bring the girl to the heart of darkness, and of which he would die for. Alone, cold, and unknown. Cahara's S ending has him escaping and getting rich and seeing his wife again. He couldn't get his S ending.

Nux if you want to try the game, there are mods to help. There is a censoring mod to play on stream, and I know a mod exists to give you 99 or unlimited, don't remember, of a specific book you can find that lets you save anywhere (other way to save is beds, which need a coin flip to successfully do) to really take away how punishing the game can be.
@@wahtari03765 The one who made the 99 enlightement books mod in termina (ADarkRaccon, also a fear and hunger youtuber) also made the mods for fear and hunger.
There's also a mod that makes you never fail the coin toss. It really makes the game much easier. Although I wouldn't recommend it because learning when to guard the coin toss attack from an enemy is an important thing in fear and hunger, but hey, it's a game, play it however you want. Just have some fun.
58:30: No, it's merely a Dream/ look back into Enki's past (interestingly, there have been a few people in the past that _survived_ being crucified, but the process often left them with scars/ holes on their hands and heels; most usually die from the blood-loss, but those were the ones that were left up there for some time; the ones that managed to be helped down from it by other people and receive medical aid quick enough, they lived... they just didn't live _well_ ). He was intending to sacrifice himself out of a loss of purpose, a loss of reason to go on living, thinking that he might as well be of _some_ use to his followers. But then he had a vision telling him about LeGarde, at which point he ordered his followers to cut him down. Which produced in my head the morbidly humorous image of Enki basically just about to give up... until he's told everything by the New Gods, "Wait, what? You're telling me there's a new way to gain infinite power and knowledge? Hotdamn! I've suddenly got motivation to live! Get me down from here you dead-eyed dunces! GET ME DOWN, I SAY!" At which point his followers are looking nervously at each other, one saying "Is... is he serious? What about the sacrifice? I was looking forward to- -" Enki then kills the follower who said that with a lash of fire. After the screaming and fire dies down, Enki gives a firm demand to "GET. ME. DOWN. *_NOW!_* " "Yep!" "Yessir, Master Enki!" "No complaints here, Your Spoopiness!"
I do want to mention, you don't have to start over from the beginning every time you die. You can save at beds, though if there are enemies alive in the area you get a coin flip to be attacked instead of saving. They are few and far between, but you generally won't lose more than an hour or so when you die.
there are also 2 "safe" beds. The crow bed is safe the first time you sleep, and also if you kill the Crow Mauler. There's also another bed in Mahabre that is safe after the dream sequence. The killing all enemies option is easiet to do in the prison. The little flying babies die easily, the zombies can be talked to and they'll allow you to kill them to "free" them, and the guards all have a set pattern to their attacks so you can avoid coinflips and kill them in 3-4 turns. The ballista guard is the only real threat, but only if you're alone.
according to the creator, his main influences were Berserk, Hellraiser, the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Junji Ito, Silent Hill, Amnesia, NetHack, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
I love how nux is thinking that there are "routes" for every character and that there are seperate bosses for everyone while everyone who played the game is like "no shes just making shit up any character could have fought that boss"
Not really "making shit up" and more like building a narrative based on the scenario of all these characters entering the dungeon at once, and the various moments in which you can encounter the other characters during your play-through (like saving Cahara from prison, or saving DArce from the cave dwellers)
@@Algorithm_God_Cult i know but im talking more about nux thinking that every character has his own story with separate boss fights and endings while actually every character can get every ending (except the S endings)
Same thing happened to me And now here I am someone who got all endings in both games waiting for the termina update and recommending everyone this game as long as they can handle it
The funniest part of the Francois boss fight is that you can basically heckle him like a troll and he'll get so tilted that he'll be too distracted by demanding you to respond and trying to protect his ego to actually fight back
1:19:13 Also, Cahara being the one to most likely canonically die with the girl is uniquely sad because for all the intro makes him out to be this self-interested ruthless rogue, he's definitely the most sympathetic, funny, and kind of the protagonists in his dialogue. The video doesn't really have time to specify it, but you learn playing him and seeing his past that he didn't really have much of a say in becoming a mercenary or a criminal on account of being abandoned as a child and getting into it for survival, and he only took the job of springing Le'garde in the first place to buy out his pregnant girlfriend's debt and free her from indentured prostitution. Cahara being a father-to-be is also probably part of the reason he sympathizes with the little girl and tries to help save her and take her with him even when he doesn't have to and it's an active detriment to the party, and it's so cruel watching the most hopeful of the characters die for trying to be a better man if not a good one; he's literally killed by an embodiment of the very fear and hunger he spent his whole life struggling against and trying to save his own family from. It's so cold and impersonal but I think it's the perfect ending for an ordinary person who's struggled their whole life, who has a lot in common with the girl (abandoned as children, grew up starving and afraid), and who loses everything trying in vain to have a better life and a happy family, to be the one to effectively bring the rest of humanity into a new age and give rise to the self-determination and progress that the God of Funger embodies. And she does actually skip a turn if Cahara or whichever player character gave her a doll earlier in the game, and seemingly thanks them for their kindness before ending their life as a mercy
Ragnavaldr's divine mirror is him with bear hide which has the power to overthrow the whole dungeon by himself. He could annihilate every monster there for eternity, thats why the dungeon kind of not exist in termina because he cleansed it. But in canon he does it without divinity. He just fk shit up.
Oh trust me this game has alot of strats even with all the rng a youtuber named frapollo94 has guides n neat info videos that will make the life of anyone playing this game much easier
_Half a company of knights buried in graves ,_ _hundreds of bodies rotting in the corners ,_ _their plates , still full of half eaten food , on tables ._ _The well was already full ._ _--LeGarde_
From what I've seen you can actually experience the majority of the events with just 1 character, the differences start during certain endings where each character decides to do something else once experiencing a certain event
Should definitely watch this other more jokey video about the (probably) canon events. I would go look for the video, but not rn. Oh yeah- it’s the video by Baltd TV. Really fun.
2:30 Frapollo 94 beat the game using only guaranteed loot, of which there is a significant amount. Eastern sword is guaranteed, and you can use your guaranteed empty scroll to get Blue Sin or Miasma( by scrolling the Passages or Leg Sweep)
I think the two main lessons from Fear & Hunger, outside of the fact that there's always someone out there who'll understand what you've gone through, is that 1) Being prepared can sometimes mean the difference between dying a completely preventable death or murdering gods. 2) Some games need a wiki to learn, but even a wiki cannot stop you from getting your butt kicked.
Dude- I get that Nux is annoying for a lot of people but leaving multiple different comments about you hating him taking interest in the lore of this game is honestly not helping your case.

In a Podcast i regulary listen to, one of the hosts said "Fear and Hunger is just Berserk, but you are a side character and not the MC."
I was looking forward to- -"
Enki then kills the follower who said that with a lash of fire. After the screaming and fire dies down, Enki gives a firm demand to "GET. ME. DOWN. *_NOW!_* "
"Yep!"
"Yessir, Master Enki!"
"No complaints here, Your Spoopiness!"
1:28:42 "they showed love to this little girl" the old gods will NOT be pleased.
Basically, the Berserk video game and the sequels Berserk crossed with Majora's Mask.
Honestly, it’s more like Berserk meets Undertale
according to the creator, his main influences were Berserk, Hellraiser, the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Junji Ito, Silent Hill, Amnesia, NetHack, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
@@Dr.Mlieko and jojo bc Marco
@@Dr.MliekoHuh, never heard of NetHack

I love how nux is thinking that there are "routes" for every character and that there are seperate bosses for everyone while everyone who played the game is like "no shes just making shit up any character could have fought that boss"
Not really "making shit up" and more like building a narrative based on the scenario of all these characters entering the dungeon at once, and the various moments in which you can encounter the other characters during your play-through (like saving Cahara from prison, or saving DArce from the cave dwellers)
I mean, if you wanted to truly go Canon, Rag is the one that goes Doom Guy on almost all of the bosses.
@@Dr.Mlieko i mean its "trying to put event's in order" but in game the character you chose that does everything on that list
@@iknorn9494 this is exactly why she is trying to put events in order based on her own interpretation of what is canon
she says it herself
@@Algorithm_God_Cult i know but im talking more about nux thinking that every character has his own story with separate boss fights and endings while actually every character can get every ending (except the S endings)
Oh no, he found it. Every time I think I've escaped this game, it always comes back in some form.
Same thing happened to me
And now here I am someone who got all endings in both games waiting for the termina update and recommending everyone this game as long as they can handle it
Lmao he thought he couldnt leave the room when he fell to the black witch spot lol
im praying to all-mer that he doesn't make a gooner joke about the girl please no
ok hes not that bad
now this fandom is likely to be flooded with gooners and distorted to the point it becomes a parody of itself. cool.
what is blud yapping about
its over we didn't gatekeep funger hard enough 😿
Whaaaaa
It's jover 😭😭😭
Womp womp the game is popular
The funniest part of the Francois boss fight is that you can basically heckle him like a troll and he'll get so tilted that he'll be too distracted by demanding you to respond and trying to protect his ego to actually fight back
I love that the second thing Nux complains about being an instant death is actually just falling down to an easily left little area.
The Bunnymask people Pocketcat and Harvestman Don't hold a candle to the Crow Mauler that noise you hear in the background still gives me nightmares.
For more of a gameplay cruelty perspective react to super eyepatch wolf's video on this game where he calls it the cruelest game
Yes! It really drives home how the game is played!
You can save in beds btw if your not playing on hard mode ofc so if you lose yknow just load your save
1:15:00 So Enki basically does the Eren Jaeger during this lmao
This is a game I probably wouldn't play but the story is just magnificent
Ragnavaldr's divine mirror is him with bear hide which has the power to overthrow the whole dungeon by himself. He could annihilate every monster there for eternity, thats why the dungeon kind of not exist in termina because he cleansed it. But in canon he does it without divinity. He just fk shit up.

From what I've seen you can actually experience the majority of the events with just 1 character, the differences start during certain endings where each character decides to do something else once experiencing a certain event
The game is actually very fair IF you know how to manipulate it.

I think the two main lessons from Fear & Hunger, outside of the fact that there's always someone out there who'll understand what you've gone through, is that
1) Being prepared can sometimes mean the difference between dying a completely preventable death or murdering gods.
2) Some games need a wiki to learn, but even a wiki cannot stop you from getting your butt kicked.
I think in the totally 'oh well, never the less' is pretty accurate to describe lore as a whole
