Good school. Attended SAM in 2011-2013. Study hard, ask questions and get to machining. It was said while I was a student there that when you return home after graduation, your buddies wouldn't be your friend anymore from the knowledge you learn from SAM.
Well, that person wasn't a friend, but a Boss and shop owner. He felt threatened from the things I knew and purposely prevented me from advancing. I did bore, hone and recondition Rods and that's it.
My point: It's ok to start out in a small "Mom & Pops" shop, but if you desire to build HP and serious Race engines, leave those shops and work where you can apply all your knowledge you learned at SAM. It's like graduating from Harvard and then going to work at Sears.
Study hard, build engines and go make money in the Racing world instead of the Hobby world.

Hello, is a race car mechanic the same as an automotive mechanic in terms of education and how they fix and work on vehicles? But, racing mechanics being more geared to super vehicles and high performance engines? Like, do they do the same work? Can a race car mechanic do the same work as an automotive mechanic (gas mechanic and diesel mechanic) and work on auto vehicles? Because I am going to attend an institute here in my city and they offer race car mechanic, which I am greatly interested in, and automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics and industrial welding. thanx!

@@Fightdefensesportsscience97 race car mechanics are the same as your automotive service mechanic. Just so happen they also work on race cars, something specifically on race cars since it pays more than the service mechanic. Race mechanics can work on daily driven cars, but not all service mechanics can be or want to be a race mechanics because of the long hours and days away from family and friends during season. It takes a lot to become a race mechanics. Time, training and commitment to the race season and race team is needed.

As a Vet I am working on a claim to finally award me 100% disability earnings. Always been a dream of mine to attend since I was 18 (now 39) but finances always got In the way. Point is after I am awarded my proper rating my wish is to finally attend and change my current profession from law enforcement to this discipline. Gods always got a plan, and time will reveal if it’s here

We don't teach people to become mechanics. We teach people to become machinists. Our graduates focus on the high performance industry where as mechanics are becoming more techs at dealerships. One isn't better than the other but if you want to work on racecars (depending on what you want to do specifically) it is better to go to a school that specializes in that.
