How to Pressure Lube Late-model Engines

  • Jeff Smith, former editor of Hot Rod and Car Craft Magazines, demonstrates his technique for pre-lubricating late model engine such as the GM KLS, Ford Mod Motor and Dodge Gen-III Hemi. Since these engine do not have a distributor, the traditional techniques do not work. Jeff's homemade pre-lube tool allows you to make sure that the engine has sufficient lubrication prior to start up to avoid wear on engine internals. This is especially important with the bottom end of the engine - specifically the crank and rod bearings and camshaft, lifters and cam bearings. Take a look at this home-built solution along with a product from Summit that can achieve the same important result.

    Or you can pack the pump with grease, it will self prime then.
