1800 here and absolutely worth it.... 4 and a half hours, 4 encores. Still think about it to this day, hopefully gets an official release, since strategically placed cameras all over inside.
Whoa! At least y'all feel you got your money worth. I could never justify that ticket price. Was this a tour or just a one off show? $1200 is crazy expensive for 20 years ago. 🤦🤣🤝
If you're in a band and the drummer turns to you with a maniacal smile you should know shit's about to get real. Also love the utter "wtf is happening" face of James at 2:51 as the song just gets more and more intense
Love the non verbal exchange between Billy and Jimmy at the beginning, and Jimmy's wink. I think it's saying: "It's gonna be fast, and I know you can keep up."
I've seen the Pumpkins perhaps a dozen times, Palace in Hollywood during Melancholy, Siamese, Palladium, Palooza with Green Day opening, but this is the best live performance I have witnessed.
@@ethanl3657 Bummer :( I saw them in 97 and 2000 live, would love to see the the final metro show in HD, especially the final version of Porcelina... it is beautiful...
This is an absolutely amazing version of this song!It has always been one of my faves but I never heard it so deep & intense before, Billy was right, it was defo a treat! And Jimmys drumming is unreal-class! The song builds up so much, I thought I was going to explode! Brilliant.
This really is one of the better examples of Jimmy's drumming. That man is amazing. Mellisa Auf der Maur rocks pretty badass, too. I don't think the show would have had the same energy with D'arcy...
Saw them on their final your in Glasgow (Oct 2000). This performance is astounding, Chamberlain is hands down the best rock drummer ever!, Corgan ain't too bad either here
Please please release 12/2/2000 full video concert aka the last show, been waiting 20 years now.....I may collect social security before I ever see this show again!.....
Only the Greatest Hits" DVD. I know there were plans to release this show in it's entirety on DVD at some point, but I don't know what happened to that idea, aside from some comments regarding Virgin (the band's label at the time) still having the rights to the band's music, stopping them putting out the DVD. I believe Virgin no longer has the rights to them now.
AMAZING!!! Does not matter if this is a totally shredded version of the original. If you want to hear the original listen to the record.. This song was played with so much passion, and intensity..that is the difference between listening to a record, and listening to it live. AMAZING! SIMPLY AMAZING!
Seriously, it's been over 20 years, where is the fucking gig? Nobody on any social media ever gives an explanation. This gig was filmed and never released. WHY???!!! IT WAS PROFESIONALLY FILMED!!
Cannot get enough of this performance so of course I analyze every little fookin' thing, when Billy goes on "I loved you" rant Iha makes a face, wonder if it's the lights or a reaction to Billy's comments. Btw, I still think Corgan was secretly the kid from the show "It's a small wonder".
A quote from billy for anybody who now thinks they are no longer smashing pumpkins as there is only billy and jummy on board.."ninety-seven percent of what you would hear off of any Smashing Pumpkins record is, pretty much, just Billy and Jimmy." most die hard fans allready know this, that billy used to record all the guitars and the bass on albums.
@Suprematista that and just upset that this was THE last time to ever see the Pumpkins together. I'd probably be crying in the crowd lol. And it sux that at this point James hated Billy and Jimmy....such a bitter end to a really great and talented band :( I miss the 90s music!
So I had this dream a long time ago... I was in some tiny club packed to capacity. I've had dreams like this, nothing new. Then the band starts playing, and it's the Pumpkins and WPC is wearing a leather dress and James is in Red Suit and this is how they were dressed when I saw them in Mesa, AZ during the farewell tour. So I'm like, okay, a memory of that show... cool. Then, I realized, no... this is not an open air amphitheater, I've never been here. A few songs in I realize, holy shit, this is the METRO!!! Somehow, someway my mind transported back to that show and it was something I'll never forget. This was before the DVD came out with this footage, so it wasn't me remembering that either. I've been practicing Lucid dreaming for years now, and that was one of the first, really good ones I could recall very clearly. Only after having this dream, did I even bother to look up more footage and photos of the place and realized, holy shit, just like the dream! Echoes of that night ring out eternal and although I wasn't there, I feel like I was given just a little glimpse of it. Strange, huh?
This is a much angrier version than the one on Melon Collie (even though it's an angry song in general) and for this live performance Billy manifested the anger into those yelps you don't appreciate. You know this was their "last" performance so it wasn't really a happy time for them. I think this is the best version I've heard.
As Corgan says "fuck you", the camera, immediately afterwards, pans to Iha. A wee bit of symbolism? Or am I just too much of a Pumpkin nerd? Also, no other footage from this concert seems to have ever been released, I hope it will one day come out. Another interesting thing I have noticed is that I have never seen a performance of "Tales of a Scorched Earth", I wonder if they even performed that song at the Final Metro Show.
I think that song rips his throat apart, it has been played very sparingly. It isn't that popular compare to other songs on the album either so they just leave it alone
fucking amazing performance, i had this on the best of smashing pumpkins dvd.. its 10 x sound quality than this.. one of the best sounding performances of theirs.. it just kicks fucking ass, nobody can compete with that!
@jsh020 I've heard the rumor that it would be with the Machina deluxe re-release (which would be awesome), but I haven't heard it officially. So I'm hopeful, but not counting on it.
@peganian this video is on their greatest hits video collection. Supposedly they recorded the whole concert and set to release it, but now it looks like they never will
Jimmy Chamberlin is a fucking god.
I was at this show and it was the best 1200 bucks I ever spent. Amazing show.
1800 here and absolutely worth it.... 4 and a half hours, 4 encores. Still think about it to this day, hopefully gets an official release, since strategically placed cameras all over inside.

@@Louis-qt5qbdude it's the final show. it was a one off but it's totally worth that price
@@whencowstakeover6648 ok being just a one time thing definitely raises the stakes but still that's too much for me personally.

Another month has passed and nothing
The fills that Jimmy does starting at 3:32 are inhuman. The fact that he's not using double bass is insane
If you're in a band and the drummer turns to you with a maniacal smile you should know shit's about to get real.
Also love the utter "wtf is happening" face of James at 2:51 as the song just gets more and more intense
I kinda wish Melissa would have been brought on board again, she could really shred and had a fantastic energy about her onstage!
Billy and Jimmy finding each other as musicians was like two neutron stars colliding. I'm thankful to have been alive at the same time.
Ladies and Gentlemen.....please give a warm round of applause of Jimmy Chamberlin and the Pumpkins! *** the crowd goes wild ***
My fucking god that drumming XD. Jimmy is an absolute monster
Jimmy. Freaking. Chamberlin.
+Tis Man *chamberlin
+Thom Schotanus Damnit! ;)
OMG!!
Literally was just about to write the exact same thing, fuck it!
Jimmy.Freaking. Chamberlin. Holy. Fuck!

22 years later and I still play this video to be bathed in the feeling of laser-focused catharsis.
I was 15 and listened to this on my radio in good ol Crown Point IN
Love the non verbal exchange between Billy and Jimmy at the beginning, and Jimmy's wink. I think it's saying: "It's gonna be fast, and I know you can keep up."
Every time I see this performance I never fail to be amazed by Chamberlin's drumming. Awesome.

This video is proof for anyone who asks why Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band. Thank you for posting this, it is amazing.
There will never be another drummer like jimmy chamberlin. Either on the pumpkins or on the alternative rock scene.
Long live Jimmy!
one of the greatest live performances by the pumpkins ever, God I cannot wait for Metro DVD/Blueray.

He rolls a snare drum in a way that the nutcracker on LSD couldn't. The man is truly a drum-god among humans.
