    Thanks coach,
I am that guy with a kid on the not so good youth team. And as I left practice tonight wondering how I can make these kids get better. I watched your video to look for inspiration, it was just what I needed to hear, that in approaching it slowly and correctly . Of course I can be better, and everyone love every practice with my boys. But I'm thankful to hear my philosophy was agreed too, by one of the games greatest teachers and inspirers.
I want to see my team win but I know we can force it or rush the fundamentals. If we lose everytane this season, I tell them it won't matter. We are there to be better then we we were the day before. And to be bit only a better player , but a better human being.
Your truly one of the greats and a true inspiration. How cool would it be to get to have a conversation with a coach and human being of this calibur.

Thanks Phil, the way you coach and interact with people, whether it's LeBron or a 15 yr old Aussie kid, is the benchmark in my opinion

Great feedback, I coach several youth teams and you are spot on. I watched this video twice and enjoyed the message. Honestly I never looked at it from that perspective, “youth coaches being the most important coaches”. I have learned that patience is very important when dealing with the kids and the parents. Love your work Coach Handy

Thank you for the great message and you are spot on with every point. As an adult I can still reflect on all of the coaches that have had a positive impact on my development and those that did not. As a parent/coach/trainer I live by these principles and the art of focusing on the fundamentals at the youth level. Off all of the jewels you dropped, the point about not showing favoritism to your own child hit home the most. I’ve seen it way too often and it usually leads to division and animosity amongst the players and parents. Thanks and Happy Easter!

Coach Phil Handy, thanks for these words. I definitely agree with every single word you share in this message. As a matter of fact, I don’t just agree with your words, I also use a lot of the workouts you share in your videos to teach my players basketball fundamentals. Thanks for the hard work you share and please, don’t ever stop sharing all that terrific work.
Coach Phil Handy, greetings from south Mexico.
    All the best.

Solid! The parent piece is key! Parents don't work with their kids outside of practice and they get mad at the coach when game time comes and their kid is struggling

Thanks Coach 🙏 I've always involved all of those items in my coaching years! Specially in youth course. I've coached youth level for 9 years. Unfortunately we had parent coaching problem during the game or practice. But By Time passing, We didn't let them do those actions! Once again, Thank you 🙏🏀

  • @79bnice

The parenting part is dead on. My son started playing AAU over a year ago and I had to take a step back and let the coach do his job. I would scream to my son to cut, get open and rebound. My son would get frustrated and one particular game I realized i was doing too much. Now just let coach do his job and save my parenting for after the game and going over videos together.
