@@MagpieInGravesfield what I hope we find out on Saturday is how Philip is going to react to how much the world has changed since the 17th century. He has no place in the world anymore. Most people are going to react to his actions with contempt. If he goes back to the BIs, they’ll lynch him and his coven heads.
The thing I've always loved about the character of Philip is how he's one of those villains where his actions are completely inexcusable and he is totally evil... but even then you can somewhat understand why he's done what he's done. Now as I said before his actions are/were inexcusable but given the context of the time he was born in (1600s) you can understand why he was hellbent on killing witches and at the end it really made me feel like he has somewhat come to his senses and is just reflecting on what he's done
@@obitosenju3768 Morality is not only complex, it can also be subjective as based on simple things or personal things that are not a realistic fact, it depends. There are nuances to morality.
Speaking from reality, only a few cities were the ones that applied the burning of "witches", and most of these cases were done for hidden reasons, either to gain an economic family inheritance, or personal revenge between families. Belos as a villain has some plot holes, and this is because it only serves as a catalyst for all the things that the creator does not like, whether for ideological reasons, etc. Or maybe I'm just the one who prefers villains who aren't evil just for the sake of it and who have common sense reasons for doing something. XD
He is a victim of himself, he was blinded by the belief of the people of his time, and as he remained the same for years, everything around him changed, including his home.

@@Photom101I think they meant as a "what if" scenario. Obviously, he says this to Titan Luz when he's on whats left of his last legs, but OP is wondering how cool and poetic it might've been if the same phrase was (at least one of) the last things Caleb ever heard before he was killed.
I wanna say the part at 1:06 is after Philip killed Caleb. In which he's in a mix between Sadness and Confusion. On one hand, Philip's trying to convince himself that Caleb deserved what he had done to him, he fell in love with someone who was part of a kind that Philip resented as a Witch Hunter, so Caleb had it coming.. On the other hand though, Philip still regrets the decision he made not because he was cursed, but because the person he killed was his brother. Who, as of we now right now, was probably the closest person in his life, the Leif to Philip's Andrias, if you will. So essentially, not only did he get curse by a Witch, but he took the life of his best friend and all he can think right now is, "Why did you make me do this?" Again, does this justify Philip's actions? Absolutely not. But it is interesting none the less
I absolutely agree with this !! :D I was thinking this being maybe a month or two after he killed Caleb, like it's still raw but not quite exactly right after. His beard was slightly shorter in the portraits during the murder, but I liked drawing the version we saw him animated in a lot more :)
What's even sadder is that Caleb was the person he loved the most but over time the sweet memories of Caleb become sour from all of the memories of the grimwalkers rebelling against him. I have an older brother and even though i hate him sometimes. the thought of killing him would absolutely shatter me. (Edit: 1:00 I just noticed that Philip is crying next to a failed grimwalker probably the first one... GOD WHY AM I FEELING SORRY FOR BELOS?!!)
We can feel bad for him while still not excusing his actions, his life story is pretty tragic when you think about it. I headcanon that he made the first grimwalker because, back then photography didn’t exist, and he was scared of forgetting his face. That would explain why the earlier pictures of his face as a child are scratched out in Hollow Mind, because he forgot what he looked like back then. But he can remember older him thanks to the grimwalker. I suspect that was the intent with the first few, and then it became more of a thing he realized he couldn’t live without, and his mental state just kept degrading over the years
This animation really shows Phillips humanity, he only became a witch hunter because he thought he was doing the right thing, he killed his brother because he thought he was sparing his brother the pain of the "monsters", all he ever wanted to do was do the right thing, and in the end even when he doesn't believe in what he's doing, he's too far gone to turn back now, so now he just endures the pain till he finishes what he started.
I think you're right in that this show the slow loss of Philip's humanity. By the time that he's done everything, from fratricide, using Luz to get to the Collector and his attempted plans at genocide, there's nothing left. Just a monster. Just Belos.
2:42 This is my favorite part of the animation because it makes Belos look so . . . human It makes him look like a normal person, none of that weird goopy stuff. And that’s what scary about it. Bad choices combined with a certain environment can turn any random joe into a horrible, corrupt, evil person.
This is amazing! It’s so well animated it looks it was taken right out of the show. The last shot made me think of a “bad ending” were Phillip succeeded and returned to the human realm, only to find the world Luz told him about. No one believed him. No one cared. Now he’s sitting alone in his childhood home wondering if it was worth it. Amazing video.
He’s my favorite character too. So complex and interesting, with a dark and thematically significant backstory, and so hatable yet with a tragic sense of sympathy. There’s so much to discuss about Belos, he’s just so well-written.
I love the scenes where at the beginning he’s sleeping peacefully and then compared to later as belos when he instantly wakes up when he nods off to show he’s no longer at peace. I think that illustrates the state of his consciousness perfectly. Topped with this amazing animation, I am completely impressed. Such a great job:)
This is honestly so beautiful and full of meaning. You can clearly tell how much love went into every frame and I applaud you for that, can’t wait to see your channel grow.
Thank you so much !!! Yes I really wanted to do the character justice, because so much of his backstory is vaguely shown through the Hollow Mind portraits, but it’s such an amazing story !
I swear he better get a good ending (like an ending that fits his character not a happy ending for him since he doesn't really deserve it, at least in my eyes) since he is such an interesting character. I just hope they can do their best for him with these final episodes which I will not forgive disney for, by the way.

I love Philip because he's a human, he made mistakes, he's done thing he didn't want to for the "greater good", he's acted on his emotions and hurt people for his own ambitions. Most importantly he is the hero of his own story and he'll be the first to tell you. What a well written character.
Technically it’s all there, just very subtle. Like the cave is so barren you can tell it’s his depression era - you can see in the portraits he and Caleb looked happy as kids. Then the preacher one was probably his darkest era. The portraits in Hollow Mind do show a lot of you look at them closely :) As for Belos falling asleep, I headcanon he usually works until he just passes out eventually, I feel like it fits his character, and I imagine he doesn’t have the most pleasant sleep so probably avoids it a lot too.

@@FreakxWannaxBe To be fair people were saying stuff like that before the first world war, people kept saying that Dungeons and dragons encourages satanic worshipping, and when the picture of Dorian Grey was published pretty much all of the criticism despite the supposedly high class and complex language essentially boiled down to "Ew, this way to gay." Plus like I said there are countries that wouldn't want the show at all.
I never expected to feel something for Belos, just wow. This made me want him to rest and be at peace, he’s such an amazing villain this is so incredible

I love this so much and seeing how much work you put into this is mind-blowing! All the little details in the background were also fun to look at and are basically just, environmental storytelling? I think I'm using that term correctly. The part of the timeline where Philip's bearded, him tearing up and wiping them away broke my heart a little, as did the little palisman getting the essence squeezed out of it. Then the one with Belos fighting sleep as he's going over a paper made me chuckle, I'd like to imagine the aftermath of that offscreen is him snoozing in his chair, And the last segment is peaceful in a way even though he's probably dying on the inside.

likely dying on the outside as well, his source of life extending magic is gone, he is probably on a very short timer while what's left of his rotten body breaks down into goo
Makes me wonder if he will be able to resume his human form after going through the portal as a goop monster. I kinda feel like his human form is gone at this point, but I still kinda want him to get it back because the villainous energy he evokes as a human is way more appealing than as a demon monster imo.
I feel as if the best thing or the best part of this is the music that it's paired with it's almost hypnotizing and if you really pay attention to the rhythm or beat I am not informed enough to tell the distinction but it matches it's pacing of the music and the desention of the melody as time passes by how he was an innocent kid to an adult filled with a bit of love left in him and hope and mainly life, then he grows into sorrow and hatred later on; how his corruption, greed and hatred spikes as he ages and then the realization it's just the story you've conveyed is just astounding
the animation is flawless. it’s exactly like the show! and your style, both for backgrounds and the characters is immaculate i can’t imagine how long it must’ve taken to master TOH’s style! HOPING THE YT ALGORITHM WORKS IN UR FAVOUR!!
2:55 just honestly reminds me of the song “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from The Phantom of the Opera. Philip really seems to miss his brother and sort of maybe is regretting his choices. Amazing work!
There are so many things to love about this- from the melancholic music choice to it’s change of tone later after Philip is in the Boiling Isles. Like you can feel, the change from when you can see him happy with Caleb, to its change of tone when he’s tearing up without Caleb there now. Now- the animation, holy- damn this animation is genuinely incredible seeing all the cycles of it, with my favorite having to be the 3rd and last one. Where it’s Phillip tearing up, and when he’s looking out to the rain. Just the look in his eyes as he’s looking out their essentially thinking all about his life and how he came to be where he is now, finally home. I just love how amazing this looks and you did such a good job, it’s absolutely amazing.

The last two animations are my favorites, especially the one of Belos almost falling asleep. Both show that behind the monster, behind the emperor, behind the witch hunter, there is only this: an old man.
For all the idiots who say that Philip doesn't feel remorse after so many years of course he does feel it and a lot so much so that even having many years to live he never put aside the mask that his brother made for him and remember that when Augustus entered to his mind to the memories of his brother he moved a lot because he was writhing in pain for having to kill his brother and although it does not justify that he wants to end the lives of all the monsters but apparently the smile and the sinism that he always wears are a way to deal with the pain that he carries in the depths of his soul
a man so consumed by hate and jealousy that he detroyed everything and everyone around him, and now after what seams like an eternity of loneliness is faced with the cold truth that he is to blame for his own misfortune
Irony. Philip is the most cruel and inhuman character in the series, but it was his story that touched people's hearts and inspired them to creativity.
Wow, that was amazing!! A whole lifestory in just few minutes. I don't know how you did it, but you can definitly feel what each frame tries to say. Like the first one, two innocent young men in a cruel world having a moment of piece. And I have to say the third and final frames are my favorite. You can see the anger and betrayl in the thitd frame, and the sadness and almost like a shame on the final. Good job!
1) LITERALLY the best TOH fan animation I've ever seen and I've seen alot 2) This is why I love Belos he isn't some random evil dude HE HAS A DAMN GOOD SAD BACKSTORY 3) God this gives me motivation to go animate but I still doubt myself knowing it's still gonna be horrible for years if I laze around and not practice enough

@@jellyjamraccoon7775 I think it's a product of his era, back then they believed in Hell the way we can confidently say the sky is blue. We see Caleb playing witch hunter games with him in the portraits in Hollow Mind - and then one day he saw Caleb leave for a witch, so his first thought was most likely that she brainwashed him or something, and he went after them in the demon realm. But then Caleb told him he wanted to stay in the demon realm to live with her - Philip tried to kill her to "free him", but Caleb fought back and Philip ended up killing Caleb in the fight. After that Philip was trapped in the demon realm with nothing to look forward to, no family, no one at all, just living in a cave in what he probably percieved was actual Hell, so at that point it was probably a slow descent into madness because he had nothing else to live for except "revenge" against witches who ruined his life. That's how I interpret the portraits from Hollow Mind, anyway :)
I just can't stop thinking about how much we could've known if season 3 wasn't cut short(and the fact that collector wasn't even intended to be in season 2 shows how much good lore we probably missed ).
Geez man the progression from a happy go lucky kid to a cold and distant old man after realizing what he'd done by losing his brother gave me chills... Amazing job on the animation btw!!!👏🏾
this video was absolutely fantastic. it perfectly shows phillip's decent into madness, but also one of confusion. honestly if the show got a whole s3 i would've loved to see more of his backstory along with caleb's and evelyn's
I’m really hoping S3 shows this nuance about him and actually shows some proper flashbacks, I’d be so upset if they rushed the ending and just showed him dying so they can move on to the collector plot 🥲
This is just incredible. The effort that this takes, the time I'm sure it took. But it was totally worth it, it's perfect. I loved every single frame. You showed Philippe's evolution so so well, with an amazing animating ability. As I said, simply perfect. Thank you soooo much for this ☺️
The show dehumanizes him, no the show Demonizes him. Making Philip the literal devil himself, but this shows that he’s human too. That he was a child once, that he feels lonely, pain, regret, sorrow, and that there was a time he was once happy. Very well done. I like Philip, even though he’s the villain; if you think about it… he was doing what he did for humanity. This was a mission he was given four hundred years ago. No one told him it had an expiration date.
@@guifdcanalli why disney, why? this is a giant leap, but if the owl house gets renewed, could they possibly rewrite seasons 2 and 3, considering they were the ones affected by the cancellation?
The last one would be an alternate timeline where he actually wins, fulfilling the Unity Day, probably kills Luz and her friends and makes back to the human realm in a good shape, only to learn that the world he loved and desired to return so badly is long gone. He seems somewhat remorseful, not only for killing his brother, but perhaps even for Luz, thinking that maybe he should've listened to her. In the show it's been hinted that he somewhat cares about her, as she was the first human he saw in ages (yeah, he betrayed and tried to kill her, multiple times, but also gave her chances to do it the easy way), but you all know how things turned out. Now he knows that the only one to blame for everything it's him.
It's a amazing animation, must have taken ages to get that TOH artstyle. I also really like how it's told in little clips rather than a full length animation because we know how belos story goes but never really knew any details. But to sum it up Really like the animation.
This helped me clarify , cause I remember Belos/Philip saying Caleb when he saw hunter had a bird palasmen and I like how in this video u seem Caleb craving and making a bird and then Belos feasting on it!! I love this video so muchhh
I feel like the Wittabane brothers were a case of Nature vs Nurture. They were good kids (nature) but because of being raised on witch hunting (Nurture),they or at least Phillip saw killing witches as a way to help humanity. when Caleb fell in love, phillip saw it as a curse from the witch and only knew one way to free him.
As we grow up, we lose bits of our soul. What we acquired at birth can only withstand so much time. As we change, our souls are shaped by our experiences and we reflect the world around us. Fear and sadness pull away little bits of our souls, tossing them to the wind and they are lost to us forever. Souls can be lost through heinous actions as well, hacked away in the battle between heart and mind. The process continues until the day we die and we have been eroded to nothing but a pile of dust.

This is beautiful, the little things in the background, the art style matching the show flawlessly, the emotions in the art and music matching and being in harmony, and just the amazement that Belos is as a character. Amazing.
I love it how you capture his descent into madness along with his destroyed humanity. It’s always nice to see another part of a character not seen. But it reminds us that anyone could end up like him if we take the wrong path. Well done 👏
It's hard to associate Philip as a children to who he is in recent days, Belos- It's like they aren't the same person even tought both young Pip and Belos are. And bro's got a pretty dark backstory for a series that were directed towards older children/young teenagers (I know that most of the fanbase is made of older teenagers and young adults), and I just love this. Never had seen a animated villain in a Disney series with such dark, and truly scary backstory. If you know about the pictures in Belos' mindscape, in Hollow Mind, you know what I'm talking about. Knowing about his whole past, his doings with the previous Golden Guards (that are automatically Grimwalkers) to when he was just a children, make me chill to the bone. And yet, Belos is still a pretty mysterious villain, making us wake up one of your oldest fears: the fear of the unknown. And even tought knowing all of that, none of his actions has an excuse, and that's what make him one of the best antagonists I've ever seen in an animated series! And now, talking about this video, the animation and story telling is just chef's kiss. You pictured the show's style so well, in a way that people that aren't aware this is a fan video may think this is canon. The music is on note, I like how it starts from a soft music and then it goes darker and darker, like Belos. I've seen other videos you made about Belos' past (I'm not used to comment a lot), and I liked them a lot!You did a pretty good work telling the Wittebros' story.
this video makes me realize just how dark this show is. Especially the background of philop and his brother and how hunter is literally one of several clones that philop made of his brother that HE MURDERED

please make another one of these themes. Something fitting of not just Emperor Belos but Belos. The sinister and dreadful background instrument that kicks in at 1:35 or 1:36 gives the vibe too. Something fitting of the pain turning him into the menace he truly is inside. The Monster hiding behind his human body that reflects what monster he truly is behind the old guiding wise emperor u see.

I like the way it's presented. It's not just a show of him being the bastard we know him as. He's being presented as a human making tough decisions would. From the time period he came from, witches were seen as one of the highest evils to humanity and he dedicated his life to ridding them from existence. Now he's (somewhat) back in the human realm and he can see how the world has changed. It makes you wonder if in the actual series, he'll per chance be able to still be a villain who sees the error of his ways although still keep to his morals because he's been with them for centuries. At least that's what I want to see, a bastard who acknowledges what he's doing is now considered wrong and appaling to a world which would have once heralded him as a holy hero but still keeps to it because it's the only thing reminding him of the old world, the world that he left behind to do his work.

The time he would have been hailed as a hero has long since passed. Unlike Phillip, Gravesfield grew up.
In the end his biggest faliure was staying a child. Never seeing how complex morality is, never abandoning his childhood ideas and never growing up.

I absolutely agree with this !! :D I was thinking this being maybe a month or two after he killed Caleb, like it's still raw but not quite exactly right after. His beard was slightly shorter in the portraits during the murder, but I liked drawing the version we saw him animated in a lot more :)

What's even sadder is that Caleb was the person he loved the most but over time the sweet memories of Caleb become sour from all of the memories of the grimwalkers rebelling against him.
I have an older brother and even though i hate him sometimes. the thought of killing him would absolutely shatter me.
(Edit: 1:00 I just noticed that Philip is crying next to a failed grimwalker probably the first one... GOD WHY AM I FEELING SORRY FOR BELOS?!!)
We can feel bad for him while still not excusing his actions, his life story is pretty tragic when you think about it. I headcanon that he made the first grimwalker because, back then photography didn’t exist, and he was scared of forgetting his face. That would explain why the earlier pictures of his face as a child are scratched out in Hollow Mind, because he forgot what he looked like back then. But he can remember older him thanks to the grimwalker. I suspect that was the intent with the first few, and then it became more of a thing he realized he couldn’t live without, and his mental state just kept degrading over the years
This animation really shows Phillips humanity, he only became a witch hunter because he thought he was doing the right thing, he killed his brother because he thought he was sparing his brother the pain of the "monsters", all he ever wanted to do was do the right thing, and in the end even when he doesn't believe in what he's doing, he's too far gone to turn back now, so now he just endures the pain till he finishes what he started.
I think you're right in that this show the slow loss of Philip's humanity. By the time that he's done everything, from fratricide, using Luz to get to the Collector and his attempted plans at genocide, there's nothing left. Just a monster.

The last shot made me think of a “bad ending” were Phillip succeeded and returned to the human realm, only to find the world Luz told him about. No one believed him. No one cared. Now he’s sitting alone in his childhood home wondering if it was worth it.

He’s my favorite character too. So complex and interesting, with a dark and thematically significant backstory, and so hatable yet with a tragic sense of sympathy. There’s so much to discuss about Belos, he’s just so well-written.

I love the scenes where at the beginning he’s sleeping peacefully and then compared to later as belos when he instantly wakes up when he nods off to show he’s no longer at peace. I think that illustrates the state of his consciousness perfectly. Topped with this amazing animation, I am completely impressed. Such a great job:)

I swear he better get a good ending (like an ending that fits his character not a happy ending for him since he doesn't really deserve it, at least in my eyes) since he is such an interesting character. I just hope they can do their best for him with these final episodes which I will not forgive disney for, by the way.

I love Philip because he's a human, he made mistakes, he's done thing he didn't want to for the "greater good", he's acted on his emotions and hurt people for his own ambitions. Most importantly he is the hero of his own story and he'll be the first to tell you. What a well written character.

If the show creators went this route then Phillip would be one of the most in depth and interesting villains in Disney history.
Technically it’s all there, just very subtle. Like the cave is so barren you can tell it’s his depression era - you can see in the portraits he and Caleb looked happy as kids. Then the preacher one was probably his darkest era. The portraits in Hollow Mind do show a lot of you look at them closely :) As for Belos falling asleep, I headcanon he usually works until he just passes out eventually, I feel like it fits his character, and I imagine he doesn’t have the most pleasant sleep so probably avoids it a lot too.
If only a certain tv network don't have some lame excuse we probably would see more, instead of pictures,"not fit for the brand"my butt

I love this so much and seeing how much work you put into this is mind-blowing! All the little details in the background were also fun to look at and are basically just, environmental storytelling? I think I'm using that term correctly.
The part of the timeline where Philip's bearded, him tearing up and wiping them away broke my heart a little, as did the little palisman getting the essence squeezed out of it. Then the one with Belos fighting sleep as he's going over a paper made me chuckle, I'd like to imagine the aftermath of that offscreen is him snoozing in his chair, And the last segment is peaceful in a way even though he's probably dying on the inside.

Makes me wonder if he will be able to resume his human form after going through the portal as a goop monster. I kinda feel like his human form is gone at this point, but I still kinda want him to get it back because the villainous energy he evokes as a human is way more appealing than as a demon monster imo.

I feel as if the best thing or the best part of this is the music that it's paired with it's almost hypnotizing and if you really pay attention to the rhythm or beat I am not informed enough to tell the distinction but it matches it's pacing of the music and the desention of the melody as time passes by how he was an innocent kid to an adult filled with a bit of love left in him and hope and mainly life, then he grows into sorrow and hatred later on; how his corruption, greed and hatred spikes as he ages and then the realization it's just the story you've conveyed is just astounding

2:55 just honestly reminds me of the song “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from The Phantom of the Opera. Philip really seems to miss his brother and sort of maybe is regretting his choices. Amazing work!
There are so many things to love about this- from the melancholic music choice to it’s change of tone later after Philip is in the Boiling Isles.
Like you can feel, the change from when you can see him happy with Caleb, to its change of tone when he’s tearing up without Caleb there now.
Now- the animation, holy- damn this animation is genuinely incredible seeing all the cycles of it, with my favorite having to be the 3rd and last one. Where it’s Phillip tearing up, and when he’s looking out to the rain. Just the look in his eyes as he’s looking out their essentially thinking all about his life and how he came to be where he is now, finally home. I just love how amazing this looks and you did such a good job, it’s absolutely amazing.

The last two animations are my favorites, especially the one of Belos almost falling asleep. Both show that behind the monster, behind the emperor, behind the witch hunter, there is only this: an old man.
For all the idiots who say that Philip doesn't feel remorse after so many years of course he does feel it and a lot so much so that even having many years to live he never put aside the mask that his brother made for him and remember that when Augustus entered to his mind to the memories of his brother he moved a lot because he was writhing in pain for having to kill his brother and although it does not justify that he wants to end the lives of all the monsters but apparently the smile and the sinism that he always wears are a way to deal with the pain that he carries in the depths of his soul
This is actually so amazing! The mini loops never get old, and it's oddly peaceful! So very amazingly good
a man so consumed by hate and jealousy that he detroyed everything and everyone around him, and now after what seams like an eternity of loneliness is faced with the cold truth that he is to blame for his own misfortune
Irony. Philip is the most cruel and inhuman character in the series, but it was his story that touched people's hearts and inspired them to creativity.
Wow, that was amazing!! A whole lifestory in just few minutes. I don't know how you did it, but you can definitly feel what each frame tries to say. Like the first one, two innocent young men in a cruel world having a moment of piece. And I have to say the third and final frames are my favorite. You can see the anger and betrayl in the thitd frame, and the sadness and almost like a shame on the final.

@@jellyjamraccoon7775 I think it's a product of his era, back then they believed in Hell the way we can confidently say the sky is blue. We see Caleb playing witch hunter games with him in the portraits in Hollow Mind - and then one day he saw Caleb leave for a witch, so his first thought was most likely that she brainwashed him or something, and he went after them in the demon realm. But then Caleb told him he wanted to stay in the demon realm to live with her - Philip tried to kill her to "free him", but Caleb fought back and Philip ended up killing Caleb in the fight. After that Philip was trapped in the demon realm with nothing to look forward to, no family, no one at all, just living in a cave in what he probably percieved was actual Hell, so at that point it was probably a slow descent into madness because he had nothing else to live for except "revenge" against witches who ruined his life. That's how I interpret the portraits from Hollow Mind, anyway :)
I just can't stop thinking about how much we could've known if season 3 wasn't cut short(and the fact that collector wasn't even intended to be in season 2 shows how much good lore we probably missed ).
Geez man the progression from a happy go lucky kid to a cold and distant old man after realizing what he'd done by losing his brother gave me chills... Amazing job on the animation btw!!!👏🏾

The show dehumanizes him, no the show Demonizes him. Making Philip the literal devil himself, but this shows that he’s human too. That he was a child once, that he feels lonely, pain, regret, sorrow, and that there was a time he was once happy.
Very well done. I like Philip, even though he’s the villain; if you think about it… he was doing what he did for humanity. This was a mission he was given four hundred years ago. No one told him it had an expiration date.
I agree, I really hope the show shows more nuance in the next episode and give him the proper backstory he deserves

The last one would be an alternate timeline where he actually wins, fulfilling the Unity Day, probably kills Luz and her friends and makes back to the human realm in a good shape, only to learn that the world he loved and desired to return so badly is long gone.
He seems somewhat remorseful, not only for killing his brother, but perhaps even for Luz, thinking that maybe he should've listened to her. In the show it's been hinted that he somewhat cares about her, as she was the first human he saw in ages (yeah, he betrayed and tried to kill her, multiple times, but also gave her chances to do it the easy way), but you all know how things turned out. Now he knows that the only one to blame for everything it's him.
It's a amazing animation, must have taken ages to get that TOH artstyle. I also really like how it's told in little clips rather than a full length animation because we know how belos story goes but never really knew any details. But to sum it up Really like the animation.

I feel like the Wittabane brothers were a case of Nature vs Nurture. They were good kids (nature) but because of being raised on witch hunting (Nurture),they or at least Phillip saw killing witches as a way to help humanity. when Caleb fell in love, phillip saw it as a curse from the witch and only knew one way to free him.

That's actually really fast. I had to make a 7 second animation and it took me 2 weeks. Bravo!
As we grow up, we lose bits of our soul. What we acquired at birth can only withstand so much time. As we change, our souls are shaped by our experiences and we reflect the world around us. Fear and sadness pull away little bits of our souls, tossing them to the wind and they are lost to us forever. Souls can be lost through heinous actions as well, hacked away in the battle between heart and mind. The process continues until the day we die and we have been eroded to nothing but a pile of dust.
I cry with Philip during this video every time. It is so good.

It's hard to associate Philip as a children to who he is in recent days, Belos- It's like they aren't the same person even tought both young Pip and Belos are.
And bro's got a pretty dark backstory for a series that were directed towards older children/young teenagers (I know that most of the fanbase is made of older teenagers and young adults), and I just love this. Never had seen a animated villain in a Disney series with such dark, and truly scary backstory. If you know about the pictures in Belos' mindscape, in Hollow Mind, you know what I'm talking about. Knowing about his whole past, his doings with the previous Golden Guards (that are automatically Grimwalkers) to when he was just a children, make me chill to the bone. And yet, Belos is still a pretty mysterious villain, making us wake up one of your oldest fears: the fear of the unknown.
And even tought knowing all of that, none of his actions has an excuse, and that's what make him one of the best antagonists I've ever seen in an animated series!
And now, talking about this video, the animation and story telling is just chef's kiss. You pictured the show's style so well, in a way that people that aren't aware this is a fan video may think this is canon.
The music is on note, I like how it starts from a soft music and then it goes darker and darker, like Belos.
I've seen other videos you made about Belos' past (I'm not used to comment a lot), and I liked them a lot!You did a pretty good work telling the Wittebros' story.

please make another one of these themes. Something fitting of not just Emperor Belos but Belos. The sinister and dreadful background instrument that kicks in at 1:35 or 1:36 gives the vibe too. Something fitting of the pain turning him into the menace he truly is inside. The Monster hiding behind his human body that reflects what monster he truly is behind the old guiding wise emperor u see.

I like the way it's presented. It's not just a show of him being the bastard we know him as. He's being presented as a human making tough decisions would. From the time period he came from, witches were seen as one of the highest evils to humanity and he dedicated his life to ridding them from existence. Now he's (somewhat) back in the human realm and he can see how the world has changed. It makes you wonder if in the actual series, he'll per chance be able to still be a villain who sees the error of his ways although still keep to his morals because he's been with them for centuries.
At least that's what I want to see, a bastard who acknowledges what he's doing is now considered wrong and appaling to a world which would have once heralded him as a holy hero but still keeps to it because it's the only thing reminding him of the old world, the world that he left behind to do his work.
