I remember, before he met the collector he was using glyphs, carving them into his arms, to either live longer or do magic himself? Until the collector taught him other ways to use magic. He also cut his own ears to make them pointy.
I think because of the glyphs he had engraved on his arm he was able to cast spells before he met the collector but it caused him agony and distortions. Or he couldn't cast a spell until the collector taught him to use the glyphs with his hands properly. Either way, Belos current spell abilities is definitely tied to these glyphs. (You can see that when he petrifies the hazel the glyphs shine on his left arm).
@@אנונימי222I think they were already engraved on him and they are one of the reasons his consumption of palismen grew so much. The glyphs tried consuming part of him whenever they were used (just like how they consume paper if written on it) and so he had to supplement his "life essence" with more and more palismen. Also why he was in such shambles and being taken over by the monstrous form after fighting with Luz
A question I had for a very long time was, why didn’t belos just kill Luz at the end of season 1. The guy literally had Eda, King and Lilith almost turning to stone and Luz was pretty much beaten, he could have won right then and there but chose not to. Then it hit me, Belos probably realized that Luz was the person who helped him find the collector, so during their fight when he saw her glyph magic wasn’t very strong (especially the fact that she wasn’t combining glyphs which was a thing that Phillip first showed her how to do) he concluded that she hadn’t went beck in time yet. So he let her and her friends go to make sure she went back in time, and then in Hollow Mind he confirmed that she had already traveled back to Phillip’s time and then from that point on without hesitation he tries to kill her. In addition perhaps he even recognized Lilith as the other time traveler and that’s why he made her head witch of the emperors coven, to keep an eye on her (especially given she wasn’t very good at her job). It would also explain why she didn’t know about the day of unity while all the other coven heads knew at least to a small extent what the day was about or what Belos lied that it was about, bc he knew that she would eventually betray him.
The reason Philip could cast spells has to do with the glyphs he had engraved on his arms. When he met the collector he learned how to improve the magic. He may have been able to cast spells before but he was in pain and disfigured, or he was unable to cast spells until the Collector taught him. Either way, this is why Belos is able to use spells like telekinesis or petrification with just his hands, without any technology means. Hunter has a connection to Flapjack and we assume it's because Flapjack was Caleb's Palisman, but Caleb never pursued magic. Infact at that time Belos excluded. Everyone still thought humans couldn't do magic. So why would Caleb have had a Palisman? But everyone on the boiling isle had magic, and Palisman are generally something witches pursue. It makes more sense for Flapjack's connection to Hunter to be because the Original Hunter was a witch and Flapjack's partner. Finally two points. Hunter calls Belos his uncle. We assume that's because he's a recreation of Caleb. But Belos had a very lovely hate relationship with his brother. He loved him enough to transcend literal hell to find him, and was so hurt by Caleb's "betrayal" he straight up knifed him. If Belos created Hunter from Caleb. Why would he treat him so badly? This would be a recreation of his brother who had never betrayed him. Why would he tell Hunter he was his uncle? Not just his older brother if he still wanted to form that familial bond? Or his son? But he tells him he's his uncle. Maybe that's more literal than we first realise? And finally, finally. Last point. Even when we see half formed grimwalkers. Or past successful Grimwalkers of Hunter they're always adolescents. Around 14/15 years old right? There was a very long time between Belos playing Julius Caesar & Brutus with his brothers ribcage and a knife. That's a long time for a body to lay rotting in the boiling Isles. Who's to say there was anything left to make a Grimwalker out of? It's reasonable to assume it was around 14/15 years even. Belos goes from being a young guy to middle-aged before we see the first Grimwalker. And Belos isn't even that powerful yet. Or atleast what we assume is the first Grimwalker. The first Hunter we see, is clumsy, he makes mistakes, he's a lil too empathetic to the demons. What if that's not a Grimwalker? What if that's literally his nephew, Hunter? Evelyn and Caleb's son. Taken away by his uncle? And his memories are the Imprint that forms the Grimwalkers? None of the Grimwalkers, even Hunter are seen questioning where they come from. If Belos is their uncle, who are their parents? Especially if they come out of the ground as teenagers. But if their memories are of being raised by Belos. From a young age. It makes a lot more sense if they don't question that. Even the name Hunter. It doesn't make sense, he's named as a homage to his father. Belos, again not the biggest fan of his brother in the end. Why would he want a constant reminder of that betrayal by naming the Grimwalker after what his brother betrayed? But if it was his mother who named him. A woman who fell in love with a witch hunter, and changed his ways. Then the name takes on a deeper meaning. It speaks to the nature of his father. Dedication, patience, understanding. All qualities a parent would want to instill. If Hunter was a Grimwalker of Caleb. Belos would probably have named him Stabbable. So in conclusion, I think Hunter is the Grimwalker Caleb's son. Not Caleb himself.
Omg that's actually a really intresting theory wth!?? I also didn't understand why they were teens as hunter if they are grimwalkers based on Caleb. Cuz Caleb was way older

Belos loves his brother Caleb
In the beginning it was them agsinst the world
Without parents and in a Puritan community that treated them like strangers, it was hard for Phillip to open up to anyone
He can only trust his only brother
In order to fit in, they conformed to the community and became Witch Hunters
Until then they hunted innocent human girls and women accused of Witchcraft for being different
But Caleb met a real witch in Evelyn Clawthorne and disappeared into the demon realm
Phillip braved everything to follow them, to save his brother
He endured the harsh environment of the Boiling Isles, he had to learn magic to survive
He may have gotten contact with the Collector and learned to sustain himself by consuming Palismen when he was possibly injured, becoming an Eldritch monster
Finally he found his brother, ready to rescue him from, in Phillip’s Point of View, from a realm of monsters.
But instead he saw Caleb in love with Evelyn
Phillip risked everything to save his brother, only to find him in love with the enemy and may not even want to go home
It was a betrayal to Phillip, and in a moment of angry passion, killed Caleb
Phillip may have instantly regretted it, he may have not truly wanted his brother dead, but was so mad it just happened
Afterward he blamed Evelyn, the Witches, the whole realm of the Boiling Isles
If they never existed, his brother wouldn’t have run away and abandoned him in the first place
Phillip saw everyone here as monsters that must be exterminated
He could have returned home, but rather destroy the Boiling Isles first, so Earth would remain safe
So he spent years thinking of a plan, and contacting the Collector again, until he became Belos and thought of a scheme that’ll purge the Realm
Phillip tried to revive Caleb immediately, but could only create clones of him in Grimwalkers, each with individual life and personality
Because they inherited Caleb’s nature, they saw Belos was wrong and eventually rebels against him
Each time he puts them down and starts over
Over time he becomes used to it, and becomes numb in killing Grimwalkers, all while he can’t let go of Caleb’s memory
The truth is. Belos was what would have become of Luz
Both were social misfits, that hardly had anyone at the beginning, it’s why they relate to eachother when they met
Luz was lucky to have friends that got her out of her lonely place
Phillip never did, in his core he’s still a little boy in a mask that wants his brother, and everything he did was because of that

@@littlewhispy feel free to use it to make it a theory video. I'm sure with a lil research and rewatching the series you could find more points than either prove or disprove it right?
@@Palemagpie Omg thank you so much! I'll definitly credit you! Keep an eye out for a video about the topic soon than👀
@@littlewhispy hey I'm happy to help. I enjoy theory crafting and thinking about stuff from different perspectives.
But video editing, and doing TH-cam stuff. I've no interest in doing that myself. So if anything you'd be helping me by putting my ideas out there.
Lemme know if you ever need a script writer or something. I'd do it for the fun of it.
@@Palemagpie How about this, contact me on discord (littlewhisp) and than we can both work on this video! I find writing scipts very diffuclt so you'd be helping me a lot :)
If you notice, eveyln looks like mama eda. Which means the clawthrones were related to belos
Yes i made a video about this! Link in description 👀
Belos reminds me of Amon from The Legend Of Korra both people loved by everyone both hate and want to get rid of people with powers and have equality both clame to comuntcat with a entity and both of them turn out to be compleat frauds and both of them changed there names and both of them have a brother and both of them have a scar across his face and both of them ware a mask
@@jessicamalca aaaah for real, I've been wanting to make an analysis video about both characters and comparing their downfall
@@littlewhispy I would love to see that
Ooh, first! Wow, and I super duper love this videooo! 1:32 I think after a while, his brother fell in love with evelyn 1:58 oh no. 2:06 oooh nooo.
Edit: 2:28 ah yes.. But hm..
Edit 2: 2:56 evelyn looks like eda.. Where could I find this info lol
Awww thank you so much!!! If you want more info, i put a link to The Owl House wiki Fandom. That is where I got most of my information and you'd find a more detailed explanation there of everything 😮❣️
O one noticed the hollow knight music in the backstory?
Yesss it's my favourite game, you can see which on in the description :D
Kid belos looks kinda like mono from little nightmares and the main character from hollow knight tbh@@littlewhispy
@@Catnap_0-0 I know right!! I love the design of his mask!
@@littlewhispy samee the design is awesome
I mean, he get left out as his brother is been taken by the witch.
Never forgiving himself that he never manage to get him back, and in a toxic environment where the community hates. witches. It consumed him.
Caleb is also at fault here. He never came back for his brother after he found out witches are nice
Definitely true! I also mention in my video about Caleb's past!
@LittleWhisp where did you get the picture of Evelyn's face? It was always obscured or turned away in the memory paintings.
I found it on google and the owl house wiki? The other painting didn't show her face well so i used that one instead!🦭
I don’t think her face was ever shown in Hollow Mind so those are probably fan art. Still since Evelyn is widely assumed to be a Clawthorne ancestor the pics are good since she definitely looks related to Eda and Lilith.
5:56 yeah it is for kids, just because there's some dark themes in the kids show doesn't mean it's not for kids anymore 😭
That's true! It was more as a joke, didn't mean it to literal🦭🫶
@@littlewhispy oh sorry, I'm just hearing this too much from cartoon fans 😵💫 and every time I imagine this funny scene where SpongeBob with Patrick are on a kids ride saying "woooooaAAAAAAAOooohhhhh......... woooooaaAAAAOOoohhhhh......" 😭😭
@wondaraptor Whahaha no worries I know what you mean. I think that's what i like abt the owl house so much, its a show with amazing representation in a way that kids can also enjoy!
@@littlewhispy yeah, I like kids shows for exact reasons they are for kids. There never will be a jumpscare of unnecessary inappropriate things I swear I hate it in adults media 😭
@@wondaraptor i love that reason, its very wholesome! Yea i do like adult media aswell. Mostly stuff like south park. But thats just also my dark sense of humour🤣
Okay, so 400 years of deception, not 200. Got it.
Yep...
I HAVE A THEORY.
Evelyn, in the photo, has a high resemblance to Gwendolyn. Meaning, Evelyn’s child is Gwendolyn, seeing that Gwendolyn is quite old. Because Eda was immediately connected to luz, it means that Evelyn was Eda’s grandmother. They both bonded with humans, and have the same spiked hair. Lilith, doesn’t have the same hair, but have you ever wondered why at the start she sided with belos? So do I. (I didn’t watch if this is explained in the video- lol)
Oehhh that could be! I did not discuss this yet. Very intresting theory, i like it :o
I hate Belos sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much and I feel bad for Hunter
If Caleb had a child and somehow got it to safety at the cost of his own life. Did it stay in the demon realm? Or end up in the human realm? Either realm comes with great risk. Philip or witch hunters?
He actually did have a child, and they did stay in the demon realm! I have a video where I go more in depth about who that child is! It's a video about hunters past...👀
@@littlewhispy
Actually, I read on the Wiki site that Eda and Lilith descended from Caleb and Evelyn!🙂
