You sir deserve a medal! I've had this printer for 7 years. It was fine at first, then the feeder soon stopped working. I'd been using the manual feed all these years! Thanks for the tip!

If that piece doesn't stick in to place, you can remove the spring and it should permanently fix the issue. This comment needs to be at the top!

This absolutely helped me!!! The only thing that I did differently is that there is a little white lever inside that pushes the gear in place. There is a spring that normally held the lever in place, but I'm guessing the spring wore out. The white lever wouldn't snap in place for me, so I just wedged a little piece of metal in there to hold it down again and ... I'm PRINTING again!!! I am so happy!!!

  • @seregik1972

    Thank you!
In addition to your steps I had to disengage the spring that was preventing the lever from staying in place.

I'm just asking why this lever exists and the reason to permit the printer to disengage it, except causing the pick up issue, this is strange.

THANK YOU! I have one of these printers that I wanted to give to my dad that was given to me. He does not do a lot of printing and his old inkjet kept drying out and the nozzles were clogged from lack of use. I had the same problem as you in this did video. I did the same steps as you and it worked perfectly. Otherwise it would be a manual-feed only printer and that would not be ideal. Many thanks again.

  • @cyberhits

The piece that you highlighted being out of place was exactly the problem. Knowing that, I was able to fix my printer's feeding problem. While getting to that piece was very difficult, the service manual helped. Eventually, I found you only need to remove the side panel, and one round piece (attached to a wire) to get at this piece.

    • @youcraigtube

I have the same problem. How did you get that white piece back in? I now have it out with the spring that holds it, but I have no idea how to get it back in or how to take that round piece out that is blocking it. My dream is that you posted your own video doing this. Wishful thinking

@@desireeanne3129 I can't figure the rest out but this if I think is the answer for you. Hard to do without images. The "moter" white round part sites on top of a shaft - (small round extension or "pole" and there are is a small black "tab" on one side that holds it into place. Just gentle push it aside (it's small - finger nail or small flat object) and then it can be pulled out.

I found this video because I was trying to troubleshoot the same problem on my printer (hl2270dw). It behaved exactly as yours did. I did take mine apart and examine the gears and plastic arm and I was unable to determine if anything was wrong there. I ended up going back to the Brother video on clearing jams: th-cam.com/video/6dIadakL1pY/w-d-xo.html. I didn't have a jam, but my paper tray paper guides (2:30 in the video) weren't set correctly. In particular, the length was pushed all the way back. When I moved it back into the position for letter sized paper, it started working again.
