Man, it IS the ultimate version of eternal darkness! It even made me think of Jari kinda "...Too tired to mix this, maybe releasing individual tracks can get ppl to mix it for me lol" Great mix man, keep it up!
Excellent work man! I'm really digging this version. I'm a fan of the cleared up guitars brought more to forefront of the mix as to better hear the fine details of Jari's guitar playing. My favorite part of the song is in part III where the tremolo picked riff kicks in at the vocal line "Caressed by the radiant ocean". If I recall, that was probably the biggest part in the original where I wanted the guitars to be louder and clearer in the mix, and I think you nailed it with this one. It is so well done. Thanks for sharing! \m/
The original was the ultimate version. I mean this one really pops the guitars but I liked how the orchestration was at the forefront of the original. I can barely hear it here with and only by straining me ears. Also how the guitars sort of form a wall of sound suits the song better than overpowering the song with clarity. Made it more ominous and now I feel as though it's not as dark as it was meant to be.
Fair enough, I wasn't a huge fan of the orchestration in a lot of places Perhaps it's slightly too low in this one, but finding the balance is the real challenge there, I was happier with it like this.
Although I have the crowdfunder pack, I didn't listen to the opening clean guitars' tracks for this song. Interesting! Also I hear bass and some lead riffs emphasized during the whole song which can barely be heard unless you listen to it very closely or via the isolated tracks. For me the ultimate version is the original, but you showed me some very exceptional aspects of the song with this version! Thanks!
No worries, glad you could get something out of it. Check out my latest video, see how you feel about this version: m.th-cam.com/video/5M-xpvx1zss/w-d-xo.html
This is a legendary mix. I never knew the song was this crushing until today. Only thing I'd suggest is making the drums a bit louder in certain parts. Huge props to you!
You misspelled my name, it's 'Ollie'. (I'm not Jari). I'm actually working on an Ultimate Version of SOWAS, this one requires a bit more Time and effort.
Great work! You got many parts of the song, if not most, to sound much better and more interesting. Love how you actually hear those kickass guitar riffs now :-D However, while listening, I was pretty close to downloading this and replacing the original with your version... But, while pushing the orchestration to the background helps the song in the majority of its parts, it does not in the final chorus, IMO. 12:21 sadly lost the goosebumps potential for me here :-/ Aside from that, amazing!
Thanks for your feedback! I've just edited the track and boosted the orchestrations in that last section. Here's a dropbox link to download it. Let me know what you think! www.dropbox.com/s/05l5rvf5o3itr2a/Eternal%20Darkness%20%28Ultimate%20Version%29%202.0.mp3?dl=0
Woah, didn't expect that :-D You're awesome. Yeah, it's better, but I think the "oooooohhooooh"-Vocals should be less dominant than the orchestration. (Sorry for the nitpicking)
Haha, I was wondering what people would think about that part! I knew this would be a somewhat contentious upload; given how different everyone's tastes are when it comes to this song.
Still my favorite metal song ever. I LOVE the black elements and this version really makes them pop

Thanks a lot, glad you liked it!
Never even knew that there was this clean guitar riff at the very beginning..
The clean guitar clip I used only shows up at 2:32 in the original song (drowned out), I just moved it to the beginning 'cause I thought it worked.
It did indeed.
it can also be found at 1:15 on the melody tracks
^ He's right, you know!
I was born in October and I love this song 🤘

I did like the focusing on the clean guitar at the beginning though. Almost makes me want an acoustic version of this song too.

This is unreal, for real
Could you do a version for the new LAM mix?
@@S1NG15 Jari didn't release the isolated tracks of the new version, so I won't be able to
Jari, do me the honored favor of uploading an ultimate version of Sons of Winter and Stars

Nice "Time" reference

No worries, I completely understand, little things in music can ruin it for me too!
Amazing mix!! Is there a way to get this version in a better quality than on youtube?
Thank you! Send me a private message and we should be able to work something out.
I hate to say this, but this sounds better. Except for the transition from part II to part III sounded horrible without the drums.
Haha, I was wondering what people would think about that part! I knew this would be a somewhat contentious upload; given how different everyone's tastes are when it comes to this song.
Wow, it's night and day. I really disliked this track on the album but now I actually quite appreciate it.
Teaching me just how important balance and production really are
I felt a similar way, I knew it would take few listens to work out how I wanted the song to sound. Now I like it!
Hmm. I actually prefer the original. The sharpness of this version makes it less "immersive"
