If you have the same car or other and you want to replace timing belt without messing the timing of the engine, i suggest you to Watch this before replacing timing belt on your engine
This certainly holds your cams, but for actual installation, you must rotate your cams 1/2 a tooth advanced to slip the belt on, then follow up with slightly rotating the intake cam before finally slipping it over the tensioner idler. When you release it all, it will be lined up. Back in the day at the dealer, we had to go behind many a shade tree mechanic who did not know this and had their belt a tooth off. And don’t spin your balancer shaft unless you know how to retime it. By the vibration, you’ll know if it’s off.
Never and I mean never change a timing belt without replacing the other pulleys and water pump if that is timing belt driven. If 1 of those components fails it will destroy the timing belt and the engine if it’s an interference motor.
@@roryhennessey1983Your comment is irrelevant. The cams at the end compared to the cams at the start are completely different (at least maintenance wise). Also at the end, their little tool isn't even attached to the cams 😂😂😂....really some people man (you)🤯

Turn the engine all the way clockwise and line the marks up again before installing the covers. That's how you know before cranking with the starter it came out to correct timing.
Theres an even easier way.. Cut the old belt in 1/2 length ways & remove the outter 1/2.. Then put the new belt on 1/2 way, then, cut the rest of the old belt sideways & remove, then slide on the new belt all the way on.. Been doing that way for yrs now..
@DaveDorenbergVeltman well if it's not broken, then why fix it ??? But yes agreed the other things in newer cars aren't built to last, so I suppose , it's maybe best to do the lot on crap models , That OK pup

great tools but its weird that when he is installing the new belt that the tool has been removed and the cam gears appear brand new instead of the old rusty ones
Yo everyone! This engine is an interference model that will bend valves and/or worse when the timing belt fails!!! ALWAYS replace the water pump and all associated pullies and seals while you are in there. NEVER be afraid to swing for the fence!!!!!!
Or the Toyota/Lexus 2GR-FE V6 engine. You line up the dots but for 4 camshafts when you replace the timing chain but, the timing chain lasts forever if you regularly change your oil and oil filter.
Or how about not waste money and time on useless tools and just to the job right. If the cam jumps a couple of teeth it takes way less time to line the mark up with just a wrench.
Okay dont do this! He removed the cam locker after taking off the belt and you can clearly see the timming is off then puts the new belt on while it is clearly out of time. What you don't see is the engine had to be replaced after
Wow! Really? I didn't know that you could tell a non interference engine from an interference just with a glance. Strange that you also assume he didn't fix the timing after.
I replaced my belt on a 99 Toyota 4runner 3.4L just fine without a tool. My cam gears had dots to line up with the block and new belt but would i do it again at home? Not in a million years it was unbelievably hard to do. Next time ill pay the local shop the estimated $350.00 bucks
Here’s a cool tip I learned from my shop teacher, who also was the shop foreman for Nissan for 20 years: before you remove the belt, use nail polish to mark the gears where they meet the belt. Then when you reinstall it, test its timing. Turn the crankshaft by hand to make the marks rotate around the gears three times. By the third revolution the marks don’t match up, take it back off and reinstall it.
You didn't pay attention to your teacher or he told you bs..... A complete engine cycle on a 4 stroke engine takes 2 crank revolutions. So, after 3 turns of the crank timing marks won't be aligned.
You make it look like it's very easy, but there are many details in your video. I tried this product sold on aliexpress and it doesn't work. but I give a thumbs up because of the quality of the video shooting.
What’s wrong with aligning and marking all signs before taking the belt off? Been doing that without error regardless of how many cams or diesel injection pumps in the mixture.
I changed the timing belt myself with the water pump. Everything else was good no loose pulleys or anything else. It was an easy job just time consuming having to take other parts off
Wow bros! Because I didn’t have a tool like this, I had to redo the timing belt on my 1st gen Sequoia after replacing my water pump and fan bracket. About 16hrs+ to get that timing right 😅

bruh, every single car manufactured has alignment marks for the timing,...you also need to hand crank the several revolutions to see if the new chain or belt is stretched out during installation...
You make 1 mistake , you supposed to leaved that tool on even Tbelt is off , you only removed that tool off when everything is installed and ready to tested for timing mark for 4 revolutions check , you only removed that tool if you have to replay cams seals and than put that tool back before you install Tbelt and pulley auto tensioner
wtf why cut the video when replacing the belt. it's a totally different motor and everything. then boom the locker is back on and old motor again. smh 😂 🤣 😂 🤣
You could also spin the engine and run a knife lengthwise along the center of the whole belt, all the way around till the belt is split in half Then. You slide off the 1st half of the old belt and leave the back side on Take new belt and slide it on half way Cut off the rest of the old belt Then, u slide the new belt on the rest of the way.... So lock the gears in place, and before installing the new belt.. remove those locks to make sure the gears can move freely.
OK GOT IT!
Didn't think anyone else noticed that lol
Well he cleaned it up first before installing the new one. I’m sure that’s why they were removed
Better replace camshaft & crankshaft oil seal together to make sure no oil leakage after replace new timing belt
They will leak before the end of the service life of the new timing belt and contaminate the belt and then will cause premature failure.
