Discovered your videos this week as I was talking to my wife about the number of pubs that used to be in Easington village. We moved here in 2021. Moved here from Hertfordshire for work. Fell in love with the people and the countryside. Thank you for showing us what the area was like and some nooks we were unaware of. The area is wonderful made better by the people.
@@Madsoutandaboutgit canny :) cheers marra. Not sure if you’ve done a video on it but we love Paynote for lush scran before or after a dog walk up the colliery. Worth promoting what they do for the local community.
The situation in the North East in the 1960/70’s was the reason my wife, kids and I immigrated to Canada, best thing we ever did. Keep your videos coming, Expat Seaham Lad, Canada.
Me and the girlfriend went down for a walk recently, on the old colliery up the hill wheres there's info stones on it's history up to the old pit cage and down round the back. Really peaceful and nice. Nice to hear a bit more about the place as well and your history there 👍
Thank you for your video I was brought up in Tower Street. I now live in Poland and this has given me a lift even though the colliery houses are dropping to bits. Good luck with the future.
Love the video mate. My girlfriend Emma Mitchell lived with her dad in Anthony Street. We would watch the filming of Billy Elliott a great summer. Some of the best times of my life down the colliery with her and friends. I'm of course from the other pit village murton.
If I would have a holiday or I could take at least a week unpaid leave, this year would go to Blackhall Colliery, Horden, Seaham, Sunderland cost- I love those beaches there and people so friendly...or I fish I could move there next to seaside at Durham county. Love your videos! 😊
I have just come back from living and working abroad, and it break my heart to see what a sh*t hole Easington Colliery has become. So pleased I have fond memories of growing up in Easington. Will be giving back to the community when I start work at the local Comprehensive we both went to in the 80's. Jesus Christ, £5k is a months wages....strange times. What did the house go for? Went to the Leather cap for the first time a few weeks ago for Zan's dads funeral. No more PPR videos - spent hours in there as a teenager trying out new Atari games ans movies. I keep hearing about drugs? Immigrants? Crime?
Not just the pits closing made this mess drugs vile people not all of the people to many food take always barbers we are forgotten no future for my gran children have to move away
I grew up as a child in Boston Street and still continue to live In easington colliery its quite rough tbh down the bottom as you make your way up the village it gets better
@@Madsoutandabout yeah 1400 is to the estate agents right. If only, yeah, a 5k house, could bring most out of poverty. An heal the country a little. Sadly though, this will only profit the already stinking rich. They'll buy entire streets and fill them with HMO Cash Cows regaining their investments in mere months. Well 3 to a house, 300 a month, yeah 6-8 month return.
We need to bring back the coal pits with the energy crisis since the government won't lower prices shouldn't of left Europe everyone with half a brain knew this would happen we gave up the pits to follow European climate guidelines
Depressing ,ye dont realise until ye video things like this.Peterlee going the same way.Need investment but at the minute everyone moves away . Need to highlight some nice areas im depressed now lol.
Heartbreaking terry they might of destroyed the area but they couldnt break the spirit of the people in the community
