I bought this car a few years ago, it’s on my youtube channel in my videos list under the video called “Driven”. Scotty it was worth it, so much fun! I sold it last year to a friend after putting 40,000 miles on it
Subarus apparently have a history of their engines blowing up, but generally from people modding them. Main problem with the twins is that there was/is an issue with them using too much RTV sealant in manufacturing and it building up and clogging stuff, and then people thinking that is connected to the bigger issue of some people having oil pressure losses when making hard left into hard right turns causing engine failure (on the right turn) when tracking their cars. Some people say the issues aren't connected and that the engine failure hasn't really been figured out yet. It's not a super common issue but there have been plenty of cases of engine failure from tracking in this way. Other than that, the cars run great and are really fun to drive. Revving them out is really fun since you can comfortably climb to 7k rpm and not put too much strain on your engine, and you can hang out around 4-6k rpm and it be no problem once the car is warmed up. The problem people have with flat engines in general though, since your question is more generic to boxers, is that they can be more difficult to access and work on. It's one of the reasons people complain about Porsche. They run really complicated flat engines, but they also are mid/rear engine making them extra difficult to access.
The 2015 and 2016 scion TC are the best looking years and come with the 2.5 litre engine. I love mine!!! Also the Scion IM is a very excellent vehicle. It comes with the very reliable 1.8 litre engine. One car is basically a Camry the other is basically a Corolla. I searched for about 4 months and found a low mileage (50k miles ) and well maintained. I bought it from a Toyota dealer six hours away. Best car I ever bought!!!!
If this brand is 5 times cheaper, it means they will pay you 4 times the price to take it. In other words, if car A sells for, say, $30,000, car b would sell for $30000- 5 times $30,000, or a total of -$120000. You get paid to take the car!
cheaper cars don't always mean more reliable its still relatively cheap to maintain a Toyota on an annual basis less than 400 dollars unless you need a major system replaced like an engine a transmission which very few Toyotas have manuals anymore except maybe the GR Corolla The GR86 and The Supra as those are sports cars the regular Corolla and Camry for example lost their manual trans options in either 2021-2022 as nearly all people who buy them were choosing the Automatic Transmission the last year the manual was available in a Camry I believe less than 1% of buyers chose the manual option equaling 2,512 out of the 314,000 Camrys sold in the US that year unlike in the case of certain Low volume luxury cars where half & Half choose Auto/manual transmissions such as the Cadillac CT5 series granted that series starts at 51,000 for a standard CT5 and goes up to 130,000 for a fully optioned CT5 V Blackwing unless you get a special edition package that is production limited such as the IMSA track editions from 2022 for the 120th anniversary of Cadillac which were limited to 75 cars in each group named after a specific race track Road Atlanta Sebring Watkins Glen etc.

cheaper cars don't always mean more reliable its still relatively cheap to maintain a Toyota on an annual basis less than 400 dollars unless you need a major system replaced like an engine a transmission which very few Toyotas have manuals anymore except maybe the GR Corolla The GR86 and The Supra as those are sports cars the regular Corolla and Camry for example lost their manual trans options in either 2021-2022 as nearly all people who buy them were choosing the Automatic Transmission the last year the manual was available in a Camry I believe less than 1% of buyers chose the manual option equaling 2,512 out of the 314,000 Camrys sold in the US that year unlike in the case of certain Low volume luxury cars where half & Half choose Auto/manual transmissions such as the Cadillac CT5 series granted that series starts at 51,000 for a standard CT5 and goes up to 130,000 for a fully optioned CT5 V Blackwing unless you get a special edition package that is production limited such as the IMSA track editions from 2022 for the 120th anniversary of Cadillac which were limited to 75 cars in each group named after a specific race track Road Atlanta Sebring Watkins Glen etc.
early cts-v's are the ones to get. theyve gone downhill since then.
@@tommurphy4307 we rented a 2016 CTS to go to Washington DC for Awesome Games Done Quick speed running convention in January 2016 and our luggage barely fit in the trunk so the desktop computer we took was packed in the backseat with me and it felt like being in a sardine can even though the car is roughly 196 in long similar to a CT5 V Blackwing to me a Luxury car is supposed to be significantly longer than a competing mass market car in the same class for ex a 2002 Cadillac Deville was 207.2 in while a Toyota Camry Solara was 193 in or 14.2 in shorter granted the Solara's trunk was around 9 cubic feet while the Camry sedan its based on has 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk
Don't know if it's true, but Scotty I have enjoyed your videos for years and appreciate what you create.
Trying to find Scion 2011+ year for first car and spent already 2 months to find it😢😢😢
If you in the north, it will be difficult to find. The Midwest have tons of them right now
Loved my 2009 Scion xB until the deer took it out. Only problem with the car was having to put a quart in every 350 miles. The burning oil did start clogging the catalytic converter.
I've been rear ended 7x it happens😂 perfect record, just bad luck
if i follow your advice i will never buy a car! one day one brand is the best , next morning you ll say don't buy this car !
Time to wait for the scion tc prices to go up 💀
Stop buying toyotas buy this brand toyota made then discontinued because they didn’t sell enough although my parents habe a scion and it’s great although my dad also has a 5.7 V8 tundra that i think it notable better then the scion
Are you kidding?! I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for anything else out there, Seriously! If I had to do it all over, I'd get the same truck!
Scion was great but they've been discontinued since 2016. Its a shame.
..I bought a 2017...
@@lensmanicfeleven1847, Toyota shut down the Scion brand at August 2016, but yes, the 2017 models were already out. Thats because the next year's model for most car companies start to release in autumn of the year before, not in January.
Scotty don't want me to buy qny car brand he makes a video why i should buy a toyota then he says this
Wow! The rumble of the exhaust on that car really made my subwoofer rumble and shook the whole house. That was cool.
Toyota didn’t made payment to my boy Scott. lol
Scion is a Toyota 🤣🤣🤣. They stopped making them in 2016. I loved em I have a 2011 and a 2015 XB.
Not cheaper than my free Camry or $400 Tacoma. Don't forget to fix that battery-bracket!
