I had a feeling, "The Husbands," wasn't going to be it for you Kenya. I enjoyed it, but I can't be trusted because I liked, "The Seven Year Slip,". You rocked this reading challenge of getting through these books of the month. I will have to add a few to my tbr.💜💜💜💜
Yessss I'm 100% with you on God of the Woods! I'm so glad someone else shares my opinion on that because I feel like I've been living in an alternate reality
So I gotta wait til I get home from thanksgiving to watch this cause it feels wrong to watch this and not be cleaning my apt or doing laundry like I do with all your book vlogs 😂 I already know my apt about to be spotless with this one.
I have checked out “I Have Some Questions For You” so many times. I finally found a used paperback copy and I got it because I saw your last video and was like “Ok. I need to really read this book.” This book and “Wellness” by Nathan Hill are on the docket for me after watching your videos. I had been eyeing them too long😅
I had to dnf the husbands because I wasn’t getting anything from the story. It felt so repetitive and was just lacking in many ways. I got to a part that seemed like it would be the turning point for the story but I wasn’t even half way through. Probably would have been better as a novella.
I feel so validated!!! I hated the Husbands too!!! The premise seemed interesting, so I got it in book of the month, but it was boring and it fell flat. The MC didn't seem like an active participant. She was just letting things happen instead of trying to figure shit out. She was so annoying.
Maybe it’s because I don’t have sisters, but I thought Blue Sisters was just okay. By the end of the book, I was tired of all of them and I hated the epilogue. The writing was good. I know I am in the minority, but I didn’t like anything about The Women-the writing was repetitive, manipulative, and there was too much tell versus show. The character development was lacking. The FMC was unlikeable. I hated the instalove, and it felt so man-centered for a book about women. And don’t get me started on the ending. I hate that I read this, and I won’t be reading anything else from KH.
Just started reading Dirty Diana, about half way through. It's pretty good. I found out after I picked it that it is the first in a trilogy. Not sure if I would have gotten it if I'd known that, but I'm enjoying it so far and will read the others. They come out in Feb. and July of next year.
I rated god of the woods higher than you did, but the ending pissed me off SO badly I still get annoyed thinking about it. I really agree with your critiques of the way it was structured- it could’ve been a much more compelling story than it was
beautiful rising 🌞 where is your bookmark from that you was using with the blue sisters?! 😍 thank you for your opinion on these books, excited to grab Five Star Stranger 🤗 happy holidays 🤎✨
Great video! I felt the same way about The God of the Woods. Too many POVs and not enough substance. However, with the right writer/director it would make a better mini-series.
If they want to crowd please on feminism, they could have the woman with a family. But then, some people throw shade because she had an abortion before and stands by it. There you have it, pro choice and pro family.
I felt personally attacked by the god of the woods. I had to 1 star it for wasting my time SO BAD & NOT HAVING THE AUDACITY to have a compelling ending 😒 I’m still pissed off by it. - the ratings are inflated because most people DNF ( only the ones that like it somehow finish to rate it)
1 and a half hour of Kenya talking about books? Christmas must have come early, i feel so blessed 😍💕
Being a father (etc.) for hire is such a crazy funny profession to give to a character 😂. I would’ve never imagined that was a thing, I love it.
Being the “drunk brother” sounds fun😂

I tried listening to the god of the woods audiobook and had the worst time trying to keep up with all the characters. 😂
You laid it out so succinctly!
3:36 ahhh wish you had read the nightingale before the women!!!!!
I've got such a dirty mind - at 09:38, it took me entirely too long to realise what the beige thing was 🤣🤣🤣

Also have you read Kate Quinn? I may have missed it in a previous video if you mentioned it. However her books are super good.

Agreed - loved the beginning but felt like it ran out of steam! Felt like it would have been a fun short story
OK GIVING BODY AT 5:30
I love a nice long video 😌😌

I share the same sentiments. It was mediocre. Some of the point of views were difficult to finish.

Felt the same way about Margo’s Got Money Troubles.. I really don’t understand why it’s gotten so much attention
What's that music? I just pictured Ray on a surfboard🤣
I got a signed copy of blue sisters from my thrift store yesterday solely bc I know you were reading it
🥰🥰🥰
