My microphone cleaner came in today, a little dab will do ya brother I put that on the push to talk button no more scratchy. Nothing it sounds absolutely beautiful, I will take this part of my day to thank you
So yeah, I did this to my "stalk" mic for my 2510. My problem is that my voice cuts out. However, it didn't work. I ascertained that it's because when I push the button, the motion isn't straight in-line with the switch motion, creating like a binding-- or lateral strain. Hence, the contacts in the switch have been worn out by this offset physical movement. The switch is worn out (short version). But, it is CLEAN!
Same issue here . I was able to replace that switch and it worked better than ever . Tech tip. Pinch the new switch in a pair of long nose needle nose plyers putting just a slight dimple in the metal housing . Worked out perfect 5 years later still working good. This also works on the new d104 hand mics the switches in those are junk
I had to do that to my d104 today. it started acting up. lucky some nice guys in Iowa while talking dx helped me diagnose it. I use the deoxit on my guitar amps and guitar potentiometers. Good stuff
🔥The Astaic Dirt Devil 🔥 I bought 3 from Amazon every month the after about 3 months new " cleaning needs deoxit or plastic safe CRC nlie can once a month. What gives with cheapo switches even used dielectric grease in switch . Works a month & crackly on TX again . Glad you gave some luck . It's shame cause theres so many other mics that U clean once a year . . The Devil has perfect tone too for Stryker and others .
I opened 4 of those mics and they were scratchy and noisy from the first key up. The new RD104E’s and new D104M6B’s. I ordered 4 of the NOS boards for the Road Devils and 2 for the D104s and they are perfect. No scratchiness and no breaking up. Can’t get them for Road Devils any longer but there are some left for the D104M6s. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. You can find them on eBay.
Hi WM, Great Vid. That was important for most that do not know know there is a fix like that. I usually just find a can of tuner wash. or TV contact cleaner. Also to fix your stripped screws, I usually just cut a sliver of a piece of a drinking straw and slip it into the screw hole to take up the space from the striped screw.
@@390WagonMaster So you do not crack the standing screw boss that the screw threads into (from over expansion), use as thin of a sliver of the piece of plastic straw as you can get away with without it continuing to be stripped.
My microphone does the same thing every road devil I’ve ever seen, I put a thick O-ring down at the bottom of the push button that keeps it from rattling now I just ordered a can of the oxide. I hope it works. I think the problem is the push to talk button is loose. I use contact cleaner but that only dries it out. I think the stuff you recommended he’s gonna work because it lubricates, and it stops static.
Its always best to buy the most expensive cleaner . A friend was using some cheap stuff and it actually melted some stuff in the radio. You get what you pay for. 73s 514 Ont. Canada
I had the same problem with 2 brand new RD104's.If you pry open the seam you talked about at the end of the S/S mic switch housing, you can access the internal parts pretty easily.Pry them apart just enough is all it takes.Good share though 390 👍.
Noice! Worked like a charm! I use the Deox-it sprays on all my electronics and most recently on my RF Limited (Road Noise) Xtreme2018 hand mic that had been sitting on my desk downstairs wired for my CPI-2000. Some of that and voila'...my sticky mic PTT button starting working nice and smooth! That and some WD-40 at the button pivot point and all was well. Will definitely have to invest in some of that CRC electronics cleaner too! Thanks, Mike! -59Z
I just cleaned up my D-104 desk mic with a similar product ,, cured the same scratchy problem
put it in the dashwasher lol ...
You only put cast iron skillets in the dishwasher 3Made ,, “come-on man”
😂😂
“C’mon mannnnn” lol
That cleaner is great stuff. I also have a fix for the slop in the PTT bar in the newer red devil mics that works awesome.
Another great DIY video. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome my friend>
@@390WagonMaster Any idea where I might be able to purchase replacement screws for this mic.?
Try a local ACE Hardware. ACE co seams to have the best hardware selections ... Take one with, you might find something close.
@@390WagonMaster Thanks for the info.

I'm glad that worked out for you my friend. Cheers from SLC Utah
@@390WagonMaster it’s probably short term, but what are you gonna do? I’ll put snap buttons on the microphone so I can open it quicker. Ha ha ha

Hello there! I've the same problems with my road-devils. I cleane these just with WD40. Best 73 to all....
I have found that when I use DeOx Gold as a final application, the servicing lasts longer. Thanks for stopping buy. Cheers
Great Video 390, I just ordered one of those Mics. Have a great day. Ny202/Ghost
That prob what’s wrong with my mic. Key up and bar bounces around and makes a scratch noise and cuts out
Hey wagon how's it going, thanks for the vid
By chance could I clean it with WD - 40 ??
Thank you much !!
You could but I would not. I understand they have a WD40 specifically for electronics. You could try that.
Try wd 40 it works better than deoxit. And also on the m6 b mic it fixes the bad ptt switches
Seems like all my mics get that scratchy sound and that how i fix them good stuff .
