The Kendall/Roman shoulder hug is a crazy scene that I think most misunderstand Rome has a major inferiority complex because of the abuse and neglect he endured from his father, and as a result he's become a masochist to the point where physical pain makes him normalize when he's spiraling (re: goading the mob to attack him after he embarrassed himself at his father's funeral) And Kendall knows this So when he sees Rome spiraling ahead of the vote, he needs to do what he can to get him to normalize and help anoint him the new CEO. So while reopening the eyebrow wound can be seen as Ken trying to assert his dominance over his brother, it is also being done out of affection because he knows (without judgement) that it is how his brother needs to be shown love in that moment (as dark of a reality that is for Rome)
According to Sarah Snook (the actress who played Shiv), it was pure instinct. Nothing more. The phrase "I love you but I cannot fucking stomach you" tells us everything. Her instinct is telling her that if Kendall becomes CEO, he's gonna be a Logan 2.0 who will probably drive her and Rome to insanity. Voting for Tom was not what she wanted because she wanted him to be below her, but also by her side (somehow). There was no 3rd option, so she picked Tom because with him she can find some sense of normalcy in her life, albeit their abhorrent marriage. About Kendall's kids: Sophie is adopted whilst Iverson was via a sperm donor. My guess is that Logan valued the bloodline aka biological children which Shiv does now have. Shiv and Roman clearly knew that because there is no way Logan hasn't spoken about it in the past (off-script). And maybe Shiv was hesitant to become a mother because of that pressure (of keeping the bloodline going).
I think with Shiv, its a lot of if I lose, Ken can't win and a bit of with Tom in power, she has something. In a sad way, she became her mother, wife of a CEO, no real power, in a loveless marriage with a child that she will probably view as the cause of her problems. Also Collin is definitely gonna walk into Kendall's apartment in a few weeks to find him face down dead in the pool, ODed on heroin.
