I feel like this episode is where the human element kicked in. Where the animators realized the show was dumb as all hell and just went full Looney Tunes with the animation, but then got told never to do that shit again lol
@@tobysmith2081 So you're saying the best animators in the industry had a laugh by not only turning in D-tier (at best) Zelda-CDI levels of animation, for one of its best parts, AND getting paid for it no less, but also managed to convince people to defend them.
I think it has more to do with poor direction. Naruto has done this style of animation before on big fights but not to this extent. Somebody in charge told the animator (can't remember his name) to go crazy on this part and that was a big mistake. Edit: Apparently it was Atsushi Wakabayashi who worked on this part. So either he was directed poorly or just didn't give a shit.

Hell, Japanese animators work like 140 hour work weeks, get paid a monthly salary of $5.95, and probably get whipped on the job, so we really can't expect them to care about the end product.
