Mamiya Six folding Kominar 75mm f3.5

  • In this video I look at the Mamiya six Kominar lens version. I wasn't able to find much information about this version online so I made this video to get the info out there for people to see. I wasn't able to test out the camera too much before making the video.

    I have owned several Mamiya Six folders over the years, but I've not previously seen this budget version. This one is from 1955 or later. His disappointment with the lens may relate to its being a triplet rather than the more common 4 element Tessar copies from Mamiya or Olympus used on the regular versions. It should be sharp if used around 8.0-11.0. Or, he may be getting flare to soften the images, as the Mamiya Six in any post-war versions seems to suffer from bad lens coatings.

    I'm not familiar with Kominar. Did a little research. Apparently a Kolimar is a triplet whereas Kolimar S is a Tessar type (better). Your pics look good as far as I can tell given TH-cam's limitations. As for carrying, I carry my folders in a fanny pack. Nice presentation.
