Finally someone else who says live mode the way I do! I thought I was going insane when I heard other people saying it. I always thought of it as "going live" - like live TV.
I can see an argument for both but it's definitely live as in 'living' to me, because you are 'living' the sims lives. I mean they both mean the same, we say 'going live' because metaphorically the thing that has gone live is 'living' now. That's also the pronunciation we use for the root word of them both 'alive'
Another depth thing I love is that when you throw a bday party for a sim’s kid, family sims will usually roll a want to have another baby. It’s almost like they are waiting for their first kid to age up, or like empty nest type of feeling seeing their kid grow up makes them want to have more kids. It’s just so cute and makes both the family sim and their kids and just the family aspect feel so real and like the bonds rlly matter in the game.
I remember forcing romance sims to settle down & automatically seeing their wants go towards things like divorce, death of certain sims, etc & loved the realism.
ngl i really miss your videos but let me tell you something. i know what you went through and i know that you’re not quite gotten over it yet. your health (and most importantly your mental health) is really important so you must take good care of yourself even if it means doing one vídeo a year. we want de best for you. Fun fact. In The Sims 3, click Settings/Lessons, but don't choose any particular lesson. You'll see a Sim in an orange sweater that should be familiar to you by now. Another fun fact. Russian version of TS2, known for some quite ridiculous names, calls Tutorial Joe Sim "Vladimir Obuchalko", which is basically "Vlad McTutorialFace".
I think you're right, it's LIIIIIVE mode! I grew up playing the German version, and even there it's always "Live Modus". Notably, whenever the word "live" is used in German it's always the non-translated term for when something is being broadcasted in real time. If it was supposed to mean "to live" the button name would be translated as "Leben-Modus".

I can also confirm that the Sims games actually have a pretty good translation (expect for maybe having them change basically every Sims 1 Sim's name for literally no reason. Why changing names like Bella Goth into Julia von Spinnweb?! Bella wouldn't even be a super outlandish name over here :'D). So yeah, I somehow can't really see them doing a good job on basically everything and than making a mistake with just that one. Especially over several games.
I found most of the building tricks like ctrl-click by accident when playing, fun fact: you can ctrl+shift+click to delete a whole room of floor tiles and wallpaper too.
I wanted to add more Pleasantview Sims, so I ended up making the Tutorial family as Joey Simms and Jane Jones. They recently went on a trip to Twikki Island and Jane had the worst time: she got sunburnt, struck by lightning, and peed herself. On the last day, Joey proposed on the beach to a very sunburnt Jane. I think she was just happy the trip was over.
What you said is true...they did put more thought in sims 2 tutorial mode than sims 4 lore and gameplay overall combined ...it is sad Sims 4 does have intuitive and solid buy/build modes(still waiting for auto-roof ) but the rest just falls....completely flat. On another note, almost all shortcuts on sims 2 are on sims 3 and sims 4, ctrl + right-click to delete , shift + click "," and "." to move the camera around etc it's actually amazing they kept throughout the games.

I literally have the salsa songs stuck in my head 24/7 after listening to it for years. I had these tunes engraved in my mind before I knew what salsa was. I forgot I could change the station so to me all sims just enjoy salsa music.
This is activating a memory of being 9 and playing the Sims 2 for the first time, being kind of confused because it was so much more complex than the Sims 1, and being SO excited about the potential of this new game.

I began playing the sims 2 when I was 7 years old. English isn't my first language and so, I didn't know what I was doing in this game at first. Most of the time I would enter the tutorial and I would wonder why Joe didn't have neighbors and why my progress wouldn't save 🤣 I would have to start over every single time

literally just adding memories of major life events that are stored automatically and can be seen in the sims history paired with a thought out wants based play that's based on an archetypal personality that you pick for your sim (could be separate from completing the aspirations as they could be more short term things your sims wants to achieve) would give the game the backbone it needs.

I found out there was a tutorial about a week ago, so yeah, never played the Tutorial in The Sims 2 either. I say LIVE the same way you do. I made an account on the sims forum site just so I could leave a comment on that thread and I gave them a book, too. A LOT of what I said went back to things I want back from The Sims 2. I did a numbered list and the short version of what I posted (each was a paragraph or more long) was: 1. A Whims Overhaul (which included a desire for a negative counterpart to whims) 2. Memories 3. Aspirations, Lifetime Wants, and that thing The Sims 4 calls Aspirations (longest section by far since I went into extreme detail) 4. Personalities, Zodiac Signs, and Chemistry 5. One sides relationships 6. Sim Challenges (take some of the personality types out of traits and put them into something similar to Lot Challenges vs. Lot Traits) 7. Pick if an offspring is an occult sim in CAS (not exactly a challenge related thing, but something I want all the same). 8. Interests (specific interests that some sims like better than other sims or dislike) 9. Discussed thoughts on Childhood values and phases and some wishes for them. Mostly I tried to avoid the general stuff I wanted and stick to the topic of making the game more challenging, but that didn't always work. There is plenty I would like that is not on this list.

Cindy, so good to see you back. I did watch the replay on Twitch. As for Live mode of course its live mode! None of this 'liv mode' 😂 I do use the space bar to cycle between sims. The basic home shows REAL potential 🤣 I guess for someone at Maxis it does. Shift click on a fence! Um no, I did not know that. 😮 I found out something neat a few days ago. If you have stuff that you want to place in inventory, grab it and click the i key.
I don’t remember playing the tutorial but I must have because I definitely used all of the keyboard commands as a kid. It was nice watching it now and reminding myself how to do them after years of not playing because I had a mac!
About the nostalgic memory attached to the tutorial of Sims 2: YES! I do have a nostalgic memory about it, and it is really sweet and precious to me: As a kid, I could never afford buying games, and my dad and mom not always had the money (or the will maybe haha) to buy them for me... So I had to play the pirate version of The Sims 2... It was really fun, but had a terrible thing about it: Because of the poor job the guy who installed the game did installing it (did not crack it well) the game came with build mode inactive, so I played like this for MONTHS, without building any house, just using the ones that came with the game! After months, in a RANDOM day, my sister, mom and I were in a super market, and there was it, sitting on the shelf: THE LEGIT THE SIMS 2, in all its glory with those 4 cds to install it, plus the manual, all inside this magic retangular box that smelt like something brand new... Ahhh, it was like seeing an angel to my 11 years old self... I had nothing to lose so I just casualy asked my mom: Mom, can you buy this for me? And... She said YES! I couldnt believe my ears, it was for sure one of the best days of my life as a kid, in a random day, this so freaking nice gift haha... So when I got home, for sure I went straight to the pc to install it and the first thing I did after launch the game was play the tutorial to learn how to build in it, and then built my first ever Sims 2 home... Cant believe this was 17 years ago, I'll definitely never forget this memory, great times, GREAT game! Thank you Cindy, hope you all the best in your life! Hugs from Brazil!

There's a hidden tutorial lot called "creative textures" too and the script for it still exists in the game. Seems the Jones family (Jane's family) were once inhabitants of the lot. The neighborhood itself is pretty cool, it's bare but has a lot of random family ties and deleted Sims. Requires a little work to fix corruption but it's a great neighborhood to setup a story.
Hello, you're looking great, I hope you're good! I use the "skip here" all the time in uni because some sims can't run and they move slower than the mummy in sims 3.
Holy crap I didn't know I could combine the smart milk with the thinking cap!! Darren and Cassandra had twins and another baby RIGHT AFTER. So they had THREE toddlers at once!! I was so so stressed trying to teach them all their toddler skills and unfortunately one of them grew up badly 😢 maybe if end up in a similar situation again it won't go so poorly (though I've reduced my risky woohoo % since then so hopefully I wont!)

The lighting in TS2 is sooooo good, i remember putting like ten windows on a single wall in TS3, and the room still felt too dark

There's a hidden tutorial lot called "creative textures" too and the script for it still exists in the game. Seems the Jones family (Jane's family) were once inhabitants of the lot. The neighborhood itself is pretty cool, it's bare but has a lot of random family ties and deleted Sims. Requires a little work to fix corruption but it's a great neighborhood to setup a story.

Hello, you're looking great, I hope you're good! I use the "skip here" all the time in uni because some sims can't run and they move slower than the mummy in sims 3.
I killed Tutorial Joe and it immediately took me to the main menu. 😂

Holy crap I didn't know I could combine the smart milk with the thinking cap!! Darren and Cassandra had twins and another baby RIGHT AFTER. So they had THREE toddlers at once!! I was so so stressed trying to teach them all their toddler skills and unfortunately one of them grew up badly 😢 maybe if end up in a similar situation again it won't go so poorly (though I've reduced my risky woohoo % since then so hopefully I wont!)
