    Am I the only one who thinks that Alex would be a great racing commentator...

  • @PttyBlue43
    @PttyBlue43 8 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    Can't wait for to see the "NASCAR is boring" comments coming from people that love a motorsport where the same team has won nearly every Grand Prix since 2014....
    (The paints schemes Alex used are not very accurate. SweedishThunder has a very accurate version of both schemes.)

    • @mrSanxable
      @mrSanxable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ok fine. F1 is boring.
      And so is NASCAR. >:)

    • @MarchuxProductions
      @MarchuxProductions 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fuck that, Rallycross is much more fun than either of these two. And so are V8 Supercars.

    • @davidmaglioli7048

      Every motorsport is boring in its own way. Essentially its watching cars go around a track and occasionally one passes another, and sometimes they crash. Thats motorsports in a nutshell honestly

      NASCAR has sucked a lot more in recent years, to be sure, at least on the Ovals. The Gen 4s were total deathtraps, absolutely, but a properly symmetrical body and a suspension setup that encouraged mechanical grip made the ovals much more conducive to good racing. The CoTs and Gen 6s allow asymmetrical bodies that by virtue of the way they flow air take all team and individual strategy out of the equation, the result being that you're left at the mercy of the pack and the ones at the front of the starting field usually win. Not by being clever in defending their positions and through skill in the actual race, but because NASCAR has become even more of a parade than F1. It really doesn't help that almost every race, including nearly all of the post-season championship races, is held on a 1.5-mile paperclip-shape oval. On the plus side the funky aero does make for more entertaining road racing, though going back to the early CoT package for road courses would make it better still

    In that 0-100 and back to 0 test, it seemed like the Ford stock car got 8th place just because the BMW Z8 has an ever so slightly longer splitter. It was so incredibly close.

    You should try them in oval, like can GT cars match Nascars at their home ?
    I would like to watch Nascar, but it they won´t show even the results at TV =/ Finnish broadcasters are complete asshats with these type of things, if there is no Finnish competetor then they just ignore the sport, same goes with DTM, BTC etc.

    Ahh good video man! Wish I knew ya better because I would've loved to represent NASCAR in this showdown! Impressive how the stock cars could really hold their own against GT cars built with so much more downforce and agility in mind!

    • @DeaKen002
      @DeaKen002 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They can't in real life though, the Xfinity cars are over 10 seconds slower around Road America than the GT cars, even V8 Supercars are faster yet they are in S class in game.

    • @BottleRocket11
      @BottleRocket11 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah, trust me I know. Forza is great but by no means is the greatest and most accurate in simulation. To be fair, though, the Xfinity cars a bit underpowered compared to the Spring Cup, so give a little benefit of time differential to the Cup cars. But, even so, there's not much chance a stock car keeps up with GT on any race circuit that isn't an oval. Less downforce and more weight are just too much to overcome even with the greater power output.

    • @DeaKen002
      @DeaKen002 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BottleRocket13 Unfortunatly so many people take Forza as gospel.

    • @BottleRocket11
      @BottleRocket11 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh gosh I know and it's ridiculous. Forza is anything but an interpretation of how real world racing works or feels. It's fun, but not even close to the real deal.

    Being an american and having the movie cars be my first introduction to car culture i knew very much and was very interested with NASCAR, only a few years ago have i written it off as boring after i found out that there were cars designed to go around TIGHT CORNERS quickly, and i learned that downforce is this wonderful thing that NASCAR or any stock car simply has a lack of. After finding out about GT cars those are currently my favorite class of racing vehicles. Great handling good power and many many grip. I still give NASCAR its credit for being a very entertaining form of racing from the viewers point of view being such close racing and the humongous crashes that occur that everyone (except for the drivers and racing teams) are never disappointed to see! (unless death or major injury occurs, thats never good)

  • @DDS029
    @DDS029 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The reason your paint scheme changed was because that car has (as do most nowadays) different sponsors throughout the season. The game probably mixes them up. BTW the 78's graphics were horrible. Very inaccurate. Before the dreaded wraps, I used hand letter race cars for over 30 years.
    These ARE stock cars. The rules changed, but what they were called never did. And there are still stock parts on these cars. Not as many as in the past but some. A few more today than there was a couple of years ago.
    Oval track racing may not seem hard to drive (but it can be), but it's VERY HARD to run well enough to win. Road race cars are set up pretty close to the same on all 4 corners. Oval track cars are different on every corner. No two are even close to the same. Different shocks, different springs, pre-load (or not) on the front anti-roll bar, VERY different caster, camber, toe-out, camber gain settings, Ackerman, bump steer, moment center on each front wheel. Static weight on all 4 corner are different, as is tire pressures to the tenth of a PSI. A solid rear axle, which means no real adjustment there except the track bar, shocks, and springs. No whishbone suspension to set caster, camber back there. 3400 pounds of beast to throw around.
    Road racing isn't a walk in the park, but neither are ovals.

      Jeebus what a long comment :P

    • @raregliscor1
      @raregliscor1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      erm, no, the paint scheme changed because the person whos replay that was in lobby couldn't load the custom livery he had. that was all.... the game doesn't mix up any in terms of multiple liveries, as the stock liveries are all counted as different cars, he was using a custom one someone else made.

    • @DoubleTime53
      @DoubleTime53 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think he cared that Martin Truex Jr's livery was out of whack. He's going to use a livery that looks like his favorite Nascar driver even if it isn't completely accurate.

      @bubbleboi28 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you also have the tension of pack racing at 180-210 MPH on Daytona or Talladega where the *slightest* error can cause a massive pile up

  • @DeaKen002
    @DeaKen002 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another example of Forza messing up performance, the Stock cars can barely keep up with 911 Cup cars (Maserati Trofeo closest in game) nevermind full blown GTE/GT3 cars, they should easily be 5 seconds up the road. I think the 2nd tier NASCAR series were doing 2:15s at Road America and the GT cars were doing 2:03s so I bet a Sprint Cup would only be around the 2:12 mark, 2:10 at the most.

    tbh Forza isn't very realistic in terms of races like these. If a GT car vs Nascar race happened irl, the GT cars would be ahead by a country mile.

    • @cooper6585
      @cooper6585 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SCDWKCB DSCSDC DWJJC DSC Not so sure you know what you're talking about. A lap at road America for a NASCAR is in the 2:13's, same as a usual lap for a GTLM car (not talking about qualifying tuned cars, since you're talking about an actual race). GTLM cars qualify much quicker, but a usual lap for them is between 2:10 and 2:14.

    Forza is a great game, but it really is not realistic in terms on straight line speed vs cornering speed. A car with higher straight line speed is better in forza.

    "Watching a NASCAR race"... I think people avoid that since they don't want to bore themselves to death xD

    • @plebking2597

      Yeah, watching NASCAR is boring as hell. It's only entertaining if you're actually driving the car...
      Actually, that can be vice versa when you are talking about Superspeedway crashes ;)

    • @DDS029
      @DDS029 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Evidently that many passes in one race confuses them. Then they have go back to F1, and the like, to allow the one pass per race let their brain catch up.

    • @Ryu_Makkuro
      @Ryu_Makkuro 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joseph Gorringe I admit I never finished watching a race, but I did watch a portion of it.
      Also, the problem with so many passes and so many laps is that... well, they just don't matter anymore. Naturally the one pass per race in F1 is the other most boring thing to watch ever, but at least when the pass happens... well, it's somewhat exciting. If NASCAR races were... 25 laps long (and the same applies to F1), then each and every single driver would fight for every single one position a lot harder and all of it would be a lot more interesting, rather than just "wait for the last laps and save the tires in the meantime" approach. F1 races basically are down to the pit stop strategies. Take the pit stops out, make the races shorter (reverse finish order for a 2nd race for example) and both sports would be infinitely more exciting to watch.
      But with the typical setup, NASCAR and F1 both compete for the title of the most boring motorsport to watch.

    • @DDS029

      The same reason protypes are called prototypes when future versions will never see the road. It's just a name carried down for the history on the division.

    GT vs Nascar is Ridiculous. Nascar is fucking boring. The fans that attend just get drunk and wait for a crash to get excited. Similar to watching ice hockey and waiting for fight.

    • @Cynthesis21
      @Cynthesis21 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Lacumbre79 Wrong and wrong. Nascar may be boring on TV, but in-person is far superior to GT races. At an oval track you can see your driver all the way around the track. You get to see every inch gained and lost. It can be very intense. At most circuit tracks, you get to see your driver for a few seconds at a time every few minutes. During the rest of the time you are watching the TV.... Also, hockey is by far the most intense and physically skilled foot sport on the planet.

    But this is still no truely proper race track, I mean, there are many straights and the corners are not that tricky, try this on a track like Catalunya or Silverstone, and find out why Nascar cars are bad when they are not at an oval
