    One of the farms near me go so fed up with dealing with fencing/weeds/brush that he had a crew come in, tear out every fence he had. Then they stripped the dirt and added some type of permanent weed barrier and stone over it. The new fence they installed uses 3 inch fiberglass posts and 5 strands of high tensile wire. Looks great but $$$$$$$

    Gained a lot of t-posts from the rework fence line, if these are reusable. Grew up moving fences at our dairy farm, Ugh, the good old days. Keep the great Vlogs coming. Cheers!

    Did a crud ton of this the past 4 years with some of newly rented land I aquired... A lot of old fences that we're neglected and buried in the dirt... Land owner was really happy about the land being cleaned up.

    Very interesting video. You said that the fence was subject to the cattle pushing and so on which makes sense. The thought crossed my mind that is it possible that some of the fence alignment could be due to creeping soil like a slow landslide?

    I think we might have fence that's about 40 years old! Give or take. It's made out of locus posts and barb wire! Anyways, awesome video Ryan!

  • @SlipShodBob
    @SlipShodBob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can tell here which posts are over 40 years old and which ones are only two years old. One was put in about 1970-71 and the stakes are still good where they were hot dipped in tar and the wire just has some surface rust. Where a few years ago they banned some of the preservatives we are having to fix them because of the posts rotting out in 6 months. We now get some local ones which are pressure treated which are guaranteed for 25 years but now the fencing wire seems to last five seconds, we thought we had someone cutting the fences but then found it was the ewes scratching their butts on it. Always brought made in Sheffield fencing as we have always though Sheffield steels was better but it seems to snap so easily

    I was just reading the Wisconsin farm fence laws. It says if you're facing the neighbor's land it is the land owner's responsibility for half the fence on the right hand side. In the left hand side is the neighbors responsibility. Interesting I thought.

    • @MatthewHoag77
      @MatthewHoag77 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sawmiller Smith It would seem to be a very circumstantial interpretation, to say the least.

    • @SawmillerSmith
      @SawmillerSmith 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matthew Hoag , I'm just repeating exactly what it said, no interpretation to it

    • @MatthewHoag77
      @MatthewHoag77 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sawmiller Smith I know you were quoting it verbatim. It would be a law that would require circumstantial interpretation nearly every time it was called into question.

    • @SawmillerSmith
      @SawmillerSmith 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Hoag , looks pretty clear-cut to me but we all have different opinions.

    • @pds8311
      @pds8311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do something that might cause problems with your neighbor ? Even though the law is on your side . You have to live next to them and work with them on other issues , bigger issues . Sometimes it is best just to do what you have to do and let the small things go .
