It's probably because of the drums and the way the song just comes on during the fight. Basically resembling tension in a boss battle. Makes your heart race. Cause you're really close to beating Atheon.

I love how slow paced the theme is. This is a very meticulous and slow paced fight overall, climbing for every piece of Oracle knowledge left. But, when you finally get to decide your own fate, the music kicks up as your whole squad unloads Launcher ammo directly in the big man’s face.
I think the Beauty of this ost is how it thematically ties in. The vault of glass is a place of secrets guarded close by the vex. The track itself sounds super intense yet does it as if conveying a battle of absurd significance while being a touch on the quieter side since the vault is a huge vex installation. One thing to note with the ost I see is due to the nature of the fight it really does feel like one mistake could erase you from time itself
I still say to this day that the defeat of Atheon is among the most significant victories in the war of light and dark. Atheon’s death set the vex back long enough to not actually have to deal with a powerful collective until The Conductor’s Sol Collective became more active. The theme itself is quiet and intense for atheon, because this is easily among the most powerful vex in the system at the time. The vex are deathly quiet, but they’re powerful. Lethal. The theme portrays the stakes present.

Personally I like it as it is a bit different and more atmospheric, the only issue is that it doesn't play until 50% on hp bar. DSC has a similar problem with Taniks, you never get to hear his theme properly. only the percussion, unless you are day 1

I heard this for the first time in game yesterday. My team and I kept on losing though, but it was good to hear this because I knew we had it in the bag. We just couldn't mess up. Well unfortunately we kept dying because we either succumb to the Oracles, get bombed by the Supplicant Harpies(Even though we were on the pillar), get detained and shot by Atheon. Yeah but the good thing was we didn't argue at all and didn't get mad at each other. We kept saying "It's all good, let's do it again" or something of that nature. Hopefully we keep that same energy and beat Atheon next time. Edit: We freaking did it!!
The supplicants can't hurt you when you shoot them, only if they explode by themselves. I didn't know this during most of my runs but it's nice to know xd
A few weeks ago, a few friends and i were practically 5 manning the raid as we didnt have people to join as they either didnt want to, or it was too late. We were doing good throughout the raid, we even 4 manned templar since a friend was taking a break which was fun. We eventually got to atheon which was the hardest part especially because of ensembles refrain. I had to get off after the next run and one of my friends said that this has to be perfect. We killed atheon and no one got vex mythoclast.
Back when VOG Launched about 9 and a half years ago at the time of me typing this, my group was in the vault for 11 hours straight on our first attempt. We didn't even beat Atheon that run, but I still wouldn't change that experience. That failed 11 hour run forever prepared me for everything Bungie has thrown at me this far. Cept for those tethers in Garden. Fuck those things
one of my craziest raid moments comes from this raid. I was lfging nobody did callouts and we were on our last dps phase. nobody did callouts i guessed every single oracle and got them each right which i am still baffled at
I was stuck facing this guy with a group of LFG-ed players for an hour and a half when I was doing this for the first time, shortly after I managed to hit 1300. It was never frustrating that we all kept wiping time and time again, we were all pretty inexperienced with the Vault. It was a little irritating at times, but the joy everyone in the group felt when Atheon finally went down made it all worth it.
Keep your head up guardian. Never accept defeat, only learn from it. Be kind and patient with your fellow new light, and help them realize, that with all our efforts combined, we’ve GOT THIS!

Im sad that they didnt add / redo more music to vault, all of the destiny 2 raids have AMAZING soundtracks until vault where its just nothing most of the time except for like 1 or 2 moments.
@@Guyy_1 Marty's music is much more atmospheric, it brings out more personality in the vex in my honest opinion. You don't always need epic horns and strings and percussion to be blasting in your ears all the time. Sometimes you just need a groovy tune.
You don't need to have a boring encounter to make the vex interesting, just look at Sanctified mind, a criminally underrated boss that has one of the best themes in the game and the best vex theme in the game, the music is so intense right of the start and never slows down where as Atheon's theme is boring and generic, the only part that is awe inspiring is the ending jingle but other than that it's just generic destiny fight music number 1000
@@poopoopeepee4827 The over the top nature of Sanctified mind is a good thing, it fits the nature of the encounter: Fast paced and hard to breathe, with Atheon's theme it begins at the 50 percent health margin, where things start to get intense for most teams, but the theme itself does not fit this feeling, it's slow, drawn out, and overall puts you to sleep faster than laying in bed does. That being said, I respect your opinions and thoughts on my argument, I believe that every conversation is a learning one so next time I play VoG I'll turn up my music volume to see what you're talking about
